WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS Page 1 of 4 SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION AND FOLLOW-UP L.A. Care s Mission Statement / Three Pillars of CO&E and RCACs RCAC members read the L.A. Care s Mission statement and the three pillars of Community Outreach and Engagement. (Health Promotion, Health Advocacy and Partnership). RCAC members reviewed the RCAC meeting Ground Rules prior to the start of the meeting. Maria Montes, RCAC Chair called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. Everyone introduced themselves.

2 II BUSINESS Approval of Agenda & Meeting Summary Approval of Agenda & Members approved today s agenda with no changes. Meeting Summary The May 18, 2018 meeting summary was approved as presented. ECAC Meeting Update Report from members that attended ECAC and BOG Meetings Ana Romo, attended the ECAC meeting on June 13, 2018 Mrs. Romo informed member that L.A. Care is planning to open more Family Resource Center throughout L.A. County. Mrs. Romo informed members that emergency rooms are overwhelmed because people don t know the difference between urgent care and emergency care. She informed that L.A. Care is looking to find ways to help solve these issues. Mrs. Romo informed that L.A. Care Health Promoters Program opened two positions. She informed members that the Health Promoters program is in the process of making changes. She will bring more information at future meetings as changes take place. Martin Vicente, Field Specialist Dioselina Garcia, attended the BOG meeting in June 7, 2018 Mrs. Garcia informed that the Board of Governors has a new member, Antonia Jimenez, who is the Acting Director for the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Social Services. She oversees a work force of nearly 14,000 employees, an annual budget of approximately $4 billion. DPSS provides services to over 3.5 million low-income residents. In addition to her career with the County of Los Angeles, she has over 25 years of extensive experience as a senior executive within government and the private sector, ten years working with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Legislature. She served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services for Massachusetts. New Chair and Vice Chair Training The training for new Chair and Vice Chair is scheduled for August 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Members were informed that this training is mandatory for new Chair and Vice Chair. ECAC Leadership Training This training is for current Chair and Vice Chair and is scheduled for Friday, September 28, The topic will be L.A. Care business part 2 and is mandatory for all Chairs, Vice Chairs and At-Large Members. New member Orientation Page 2 of 4

REGIONAL ISSUES Group The orientation is scheduled for Friday, September 7, 2018 from 8:30 to 12:00 p.m. This training is mandatory for all newly approved Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) members. New List of Members Attending ECAC and BOG A new list ECAC and BOG attendance list was given to members. Members reviewed the list and all agreed that the names were assigned correctly. Members were informed that for ECAC attendance there were still 4 dates still available for 2018, because the list ran out of members. Martin Vicente ask the RCAC for volunteers for this dates and the following members will be attending the rest of 2018 ECAC meetings: o Dioselina Garcia will attend ECAC, September 12, o Rosario Moreno will attend ECAC, October 10, o Rita Elizabeth Montes will attend ECAC, November 14, o Maria Isabell Tamayo will attend ECAC, December 12, 2018 Martin Vicente asked members if they approved the volunteers for the rest of 2018, and all agreed that these four members should attend ECAC for the rest of Members were informed that the dates are subject to change but they will be notified if there are charges. ECAC and Board of Governors Meeting Attendance Janet Sevilla will attend ECAC on August 8, 2018 Dioselina Garcia will attend ECAC on September 12, 2018 Judith Lemaroy will attend BOG on September 6, 2018 Dioselina Garcia will attend BOG on October 4, 2018 RCAC Meeting Time Martin Vicente reminded members to be mindful of meeting times. He informed members that too many members are asking to leave early and it makes it unfair for those members who come and leave on time. He encouraged members to please plan the meeting times ahead so they don t miss on any information provided at the meeting, told them they should stay 100% of the time. Member Issues There were no member issues. IV. GET UP & MOVE Members had the opportunity to take a 10 minutes break. VI. RCAC/COMMUNITY WORK-PLAN Work-Plan 2017/2018 There was no update available from Robert F. Kennedy Institute about the community partnership. Page 3 of 4

FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS MEETING EVALUATIONS PUBLIC COMMENTS Public Health Education Training/ Cervical Cancer Screening Victor Rodriguez gave a presentation about Cervical Cancer Screening. Members received basic information about: o What is cervical cancer? o Risk factors and HPV. o Preventive screening and vaccination. o Pap test and resources Members took a pretest and posttest to evaluate how much they learned during the training. Members received the results of the posttest from previous presentations. Future agenda items Members will like information about services provided by the Mexican Council. Martin Vicente informed members he will try to bring someone to present or he will bring information about services provided by such agency. All RCAC members took a few minutes to complete their meeting evaluation forms. Irma Ramos, Project Assistant from Providence Health Services, gave a brief presentation about the services provided by Providence. Some of those programs include, Zumba, nutrition, diabetes management, guitar classes, support groups for bereavement and many more. Mrs. Ramos provided members with the center s calendar. IX. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m. The next RCAC 8 meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Providence Community Health Wellness & Activity Center at 470 N.
