The grant will match the first $50,000 of donations. Donations will be sought from: donor (giving) circles philanthropic trusts and foundations crowd funding, and the corporate sector TIMEFRAME: The campaign is active until 13 May 2016 HOMEtruths is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia through Plus1 Beyond Empathy is a not-for-profit organisation endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient. 3 Moree Aboriginal women create safe futures HOMEtruths is a 3-year arts based project that will engage Aboriginal women in Moree affected by domestic violence in creative and therapeutic processes to re-set healthy boundaries. HOMEtruths will bring artists Raphaela Rosella, Cathy Craigie and Bibi Barba into community to work with women affected by domestic violence on collaborative art-making. The success of HOMEtruths will be measured by the numbers of women who speak up, who stop the silence on violence and who then, make better use of the systems available to them. Non-judgemental and empowering processes of art-making make it possible to explore this difficult territory. HOMEtruths will: support the creation of collaborative artwork by Aboriginal women affected by domestic violence in Moree, generating exhibitions in Moree and Sydney provide trauma support and new strategies to disrupt patterns of bad behaviour, using art as a tool for re-invention progress the national debate on violence against women with a HOMEtruths Forum on 25 November 2015, the United Nation s International Day of the Elimination of Violence against Women stimulate local, state and national media coverage on the issue Raphaela Rosella

On the UN Day For the Elimination of Violence Against Women, BE presents a group of Aboriginal cultural leaders and those who work in community, to share perspectives and celebrate the transformative role the arts can play to restore healthy boundaries. 5 donor (givi ng )circles Collaborative giving has been gaining traction in Australia as an effective strategy to stimulate powerful community philanthropy - leveraging smaller donations from large groups of donors to make a big impact. James Boyd, WA & SA Manager with Creative Partnerships Australia leads the research in Australia following a US study tour in The distinction between a giving circle and a donor circle depends on who initiates it: giving circles, are initiated by donors while donor circles are initiated by not-for-profit organisations. the process A giving circle is, in general terms, a group of donors who pool resources for a common goal. Giving circle donors often commit for several years, to support a project over its full span. They vary in structure, size and focus. Some giving circles are very informal, nothing more than a group of friends who meet in each others homes to discuss how they can support a social issue. Other giving circles have hundreds of members and governing boards, and may use a community foundation to manage the financial aspects of their giving. The individual dollar contribution amount can vary: some circles start at $10 donations from individual donors and others $5,000 or more. All giving circles offer members a chance to learn more about giving and community issues. Raphaela Rosella
