Hosting Club Meeting for the review of the 2014 New Zealand tour will be held at 2.00pm on Saturday 24 th May 2014 at the same venue. N.S.W Telephone :: Fax th May 2014 BRIEF HISTORY OF THE RECIPROCAL TOURS The reciprocal Tours emanated through the vision and determination of two dedicated men, Harry Barnes from Hornsby RSL Club, NSW and Brian Sexton from Papakura RSA Club, New Zealand. Due to their efforts the cultural exchange of students from within the RSL Youth Movement became a reality. A standard of behaviour has been set between both countries based on the Code of Ethics and the word PRIDE derived from the following: PRIDE PATIENCE - RESPECT - INTEGRITY - DIGNITY & ETHICS The idea was to bond the youth from both countries to carry on the tradition of the ANZACS, each one learning from the other. Although the beginning was small we have gone from strength to strength. In 1981 Youth Council set up a Reciprocal Visit Committee. We travel with a Manager, Assistant Manager, a Chaperone, Assistant Chaperone and 30 Youth Club Members. The criteria for selection are shown on the application forms which are attached and can be photocopied. We welcome members from ALL Youth Clubs to apply for the positions of management and nominate their Youth Club Members who are eligible to travel. It is the sincere wish of the Reciprocal Visits Committee that these tours continue each learning from the other in the name of the ANZACS and friendship. YOUTH CLUB CHAIRMAN/SECRETARY... (Signature) CRITERIA FOR SELECTION 1. (a) RSL Youth Club Members must be nominated through their Youth Club. (b) (c) (d) He/She must have been an active member of the RSL Youth Club FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 5 YEARS He/She must have been approved through a RSL Youth Club Meeting. Applicants must be interviewed by a panel within their own RSL Youth Club before application is submitted to the Reciprocal Visits Committee. 2 Applicants must have attained their 14 th Birthday at the date of departure and must be under 17 years of age to participate in the 2015 tour. 3. The applicant must be a full time student (a letter from the School Principal is required giving permission to travel outside school holidays).

5 4. All medical problems must be fully documented with a letter from your Doctor stating medication and treatment. This is necessary so that the correct treatment can be administered immediately, should the need arise. 5. Attendance at all rehearsals is compulsory and it should be clearly understood that positions may be forfeit for non attendance. Dates of rehearsals will be supplied at time of interview. 6. Earrings are not to be worn by boys when in touring uniform. (Hair to be neat and tidy). 7. Respect and obedience must be shown to Management at all times and due courtesy paid to speaker/s whenever applicable. FAILURE to do so will result in your being sent home at your parents expense. 8. DRINKING OF ALCOHOL, SMOKING OR SWEARING will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Any breach of this will result in you being sent home at your parents expense. This rule will be strictly adhered to. 9. (a) Only two members may be nominated per RSL Club, plus a maximum of two reserves. (b) Only one member from each family will be considered. (multiple births excepted) (c) All nominees are on 3 months probation. 10. It is imperative that you attend All Rehearsals and Camps. 11. You must be aware that you will not necessarily be billeted with friends or able to go out with them, as each billeting family will be responsible for you. The billets will be opening their homes to you, so you are governed by their rules. ONLY in extreme circumstances will a member be allowed to change billets. 12. At the end of the tour a report and photo are required from you. NO REPORT or PHOTO then NO REFERENCE will be supplied. 13. (a) Nominee must be an active and voluntary member of a Youth Club Committee with a least (10) ten years experience in the handling/chaperoning of outside activities ie: Weekends away, Youth camps, or leadership, with proven ability to manage a group of young adults. (b) The minimum age for consideration is 40 years as at the date of interview. (c) An assistant Manager and assistant Chaperone will be appointed with the view that he/she would be a future Manager/Chaperone in (2) two years time if found to be suitable. (d) First Aid Certificate is advisable. 2. Nominees must be approved at a Youth Club meeting endorsed by the President/Chairman and Secretary finally by the President or Secretary of the sub-branch. References to be verified. 3. Only one name for each position to be forwarded to the Reciprocal Visits Committee from each Youth Club. 4. It is important that the nominee be in good health.

7 5. In the case of illness or late withdrawal an experienced member of the Reciprocal Visits Committee will be on standby to fill the position, with the approval of Youth Council. 6. The Reciprocal Visits Committee has the right to replace any member of Management or touring party who prove unsatisfactory. If this occasion does arise a full report is to be submitted to the Chairman of Youth Council immediately. 7. Only one member from each family will be considered. 8. Management selected must be prepared to attend ALL rehearsals and be prepared to travel for (2) two weeks in April/May and participate in all pre tour activities/fund raising etc prior to the tour. Management must have a meeting together with the committee before their first meeting with the children, this is compulsory. On completion of the tour a report must be submitted and management must be available to assist the committee with preparations for the forth coming tour (dates subject to alteration). 9. Whilst on tour Management must not consume alcohol until the group is in the care of their billets or hosting clubs. 10. Please attach a brief resume. As you will appreciate, Management holds a very responsible position, with the care and welfare of 30 young people. We must emphasize that the children on tour are the managements responsibility, as a group each child must be treated the same. The children s well-being is governed by the Child Protection Act and you will be required to sign this document. Therefore it is the duty of the Reciprocal Visits Committee to select the applicant most suitable to the position. If suitable management cannot be found experienced members from within the committee or past tour management will fill the positions. Their decision is endorsed by Youth Council and is final, therefore no correspondence will be entered into. Nominations close on 11 th July Late entries WILL NOT be considered.
