2 Epworth Medical Foundation The Network Club is a group of Epworth patients, friends, relatives and other supporters, brought together by the Epworth Medical Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1982 to generate much-needed philanthropic support for the activities and equipment needs of Epworth HealthCare. Our goal is and always has been to ensure patients at Epworth receive the best possible care and outcomes. Therefore, funds we raise are used to contribute to and improve the excellence in medical care provided by Epworth HealthCare. Epworth is an outstanding healthcare organisation but, if we are to achieve our mission of becoming one of the world s truly great academic and teaching hospitals, we rely on philanthropic support.

3 Our association with Epworth started in 1936 when our sister was born here. This was the first hospital we had ever been to. We joined the Network Club in Eminent specialists present on research and latest technology in their field, and we find this most interesting and very informative. What we appreciate most about being in the Network Club are the Epworth Medical Foundation newsletters, which keep us well informed, and meeting new friends at the seminars. We enjoy the informality of the presentations and friendliness of the group. Without the Network Club, we would never get the opportunity to hear keynote speakers talk about advances in medical research and technology. Sisters Norma Couchman and Ellie Barnes

4 The Network Club The Network Club is a group of patients, friends, relatives and anyone else who wants to get involved with Epworth HealthCare. Through the Network Club, they can come together, develop friendships and be part of our interesting learning experiences and events.

5 Membership benefits There are many benefits to being a member of the Network Club. These include (but are not limited to) the following: Invitations to social functions organised by Epworth auxiliaries and volunteers Invitations to seminars and tours hosted by Epworth s expert clinicians Invitations to attend Epworth s dynamic Research Week symposium Access to useful health-related information and advice from Epworth experts A newsletter featuring Epworth news and healthrelated articles (twice yearly) Discounts at various affiliated retail outlets A visit from a staff member at the Foundation if you are ever admitted to hospital Annual fee Membership in the Network Club is $30 a year for singles or $50 a year for couples, renewable each September. 6 Network Club events Network Club events change from time to time to keep them fresh and interesting for our members. But almost every event includes a lovely meal (or morning or afternoon tea), eminent guest speakers from Epworth, and the fellowship of good friends, old and new. For example, sessions in 2012 included: An afternoon tea at Epworth Richmond, and an address from Professor Richard de Steiger, Chair of the Orthapaedic Research Institute A seminar at Epworth Eastern, with an address from a leading specialist and a tour of this state-of-the-art hospital A Christmas morning tea party at Epworth Richmond, with an update of hospital developments from the hospital s Executive Director Every Network Club event is a unique opportunity for members to listen to world-class speakers and members of the Epworth executive, and learn about the latest in the world-leading healthcare that is delivered at Epworth.
