1 2012 OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS MnGFOA Newsletter Excellence and Leadership in Government Finance Included in this Issue: Special Meeting Notice Monthly Meeting ~ March 15 th MnGFOA Listserv Membership Renewals Networking Event Monthly Meeting Late Registration Fee Scholarship Applications Now Online 2017 MnGFOA Networking Events President s Message By: Michelle Pietrick At our February program luncheon, Kim Brustuen from US Bank and Brad Brown from Wells Fargo provided us with some interesting insights on the Market and Portfolio strategies in the current environment. Keep an eye on the website as we hope to get their presentations posted for your review. March brings us the highly anticipated CAFR review session. This year the torch has been passed to BerganKDV to provide us with useful information that we can incorporate into our annual audits, which we are actively working on. Also, there will be a special meeting after the CAFR review for the purpose of amending the bylaws to add a retiree membership rate. See article in this newsletter. If you are looking for a break from the annual audit process, the Social Committee has arranged an interesting event at Trapped Puzzle Rooms. If you can t participate in the puzzle room there will be appetizers and networking at Famous Dave s after the group has escaped. See the website for additional information on this interesting event. The conference committee is in the beginning stages of planning this year s conference. If you would like to be part of the process it s not too late to join or submit topic ideas. The committee has the ability for members to teleconference in, so don t let distance deter you from participating on this committee. If you are interested in joining or offering ideas for the annual conference, please contact Nicole Meyer at nmeyer@waconia.org or at As I started this message, there were weather alerts galore. I was excited with the possibility of 8-12 inches of snow (I LIKE Winter). As I finish this message I may have to drive south to Mankato, Owatonna or Winona to see snow. March tournament season may finally bring some snow to those areas of Minnesota that have not been as fortunate. Special Meeting Notice The MNGFOA Executive Board will be holding a special meeting at the March Luncheon to vote on potentially adding a Retiree Member Rate. The proposed rate would be $10 and would be available for retired people who would still like to be involved in the MNGFOA. The proposed rate is the same as the student member rate. A vote will take place at the March Luncheon. For questions or more information, please contact any member of the Executive Board.
