2 Overview Background UK Anti-Doping () has a clear objective to prevent doping in sport in the UK. As the National Anti- Doping Agency, aims to prevent, deter, detect and prosecute doping to support its mission of Clean Sport. A lead tactic in the prevention of doping is to develop robust and sustainable education and information programmes for identified athletes and athlete support personnel within the sporting landscape. s approach is based on a model of athlete development, behavioural change and cultural awareness. This approach can only be effective if forms strategic partnerships with key agencies and sporting bodies, which also have an interest in protecting clean sport and are willing to integrate Anti-Doping education into their existing programmes. The British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences () is the professional body for sport and exercise sciences in the UK, predominantly in the disciplines of biomechanics, physiology and psychology where it aims to promote excellence in these fields. The organisation is signed up to the Voluntary Code of Good Governance for the Sport and Recreation sector and currently has 2400 members who range from students undertaking undergraduate and post-graduate courses to accredited practitioners. All accredited members are required to undertake continuous professional development, abide by the ethics of professional practice and typically work in either sports performance or physical activity for health environments. Research indicates that athletes are heavily influenced by the athlete support personnel around them this influence also applies to an athlete s decision to dope or not. With recent international events highlighting the role of athlete support personnel in the treatment of athletes through the use of doping substances and methods, both and are keen to establish a programme of education and awareness to ensure that in the UK our athlete support personnel are operating in line with the ethics of clean sport, by having the relevant information available to them. and agree to a strategic partnership over a period of three years (January January 2021) which will: Promote commitment to Clean Sport. Integrate a sustainable and robust programme of education and information for all Utilise the expertise from membership to help inform practices and decision making Development Phase It is both organisations aim to have a sustainable programme of activity in place over the next three years to be introduced incrementally, thereafter becoming an integrated part of the professional development. Dates: To start from 1 January 31 January A commitment to hold (as minimum) quarterly check-in calls and an annual meeting to monitor strategic progress and agree next steps. 3 Outline Programme Activity Objective 1: To declare a public commitment to Clean Sport as an integral part of sport in the UK. and Clean Sport Commitment Statement reviewed. Promotion of Clean Sport Commitment Statement Development of expert statements in relevant areas for and to review a Clean Sport Commitment Statement which is shared with the Board. to write (with approval) a news story to promote the Clean Sport Commitment statement and publish on their website. to promote to its members its commitment to Clean Sport. to maintain a link to Twitter feed both organisations to retweet as appropriate, reaffirming the close working relationship. Work with to develop expert or position statements on core topics for example the use of supplements, professional ethics and vulnerability (psychology based). Future potential to integrate the Anti- Doping Advisor e-learning programme into the Accreditation CPD structure onwards Webinar support programme to seek input from regarding content for webinars as part of the Clean Sport live programme for members to access once they have completed the advisor course. Spring- Clean Sport Interest Group to retain two seats on the Anti- Doping Interest Group through, providing an opportunity to liaise directly with members on Anti-Doping topics. June Research and survey activity to seek help from to run surveys and research initiatives with members (as required) to help inform practise and increase its working knowledge base. Possibility for / to tweet requests for research in specific areas which members may already be undertaking. Potential for to be included in any research panel may set up in the future. Future work to seek expert advice from to develop further knowledge of the issue of steroids in society (image enhancing) as part of the Physical Activity for Health agenda.
