LTVSJ La Maison des Bateleurs Montendre - 01/01/15 31/12/15 RENO, SOCI 18+ The project: Being an association of youth and popular education, «La Maison des Bateleurs» is the regional delegation in Poitou-Charentes of the national french movement «Solidarités Jeunesses» She aims to promote peace between people by organising voluntary work and intercultural encounters. Role and tasks of the volunteers: The activities organized with the volunteers are mainly manual workshops and activities of local development. Volunteers will learn technical techniques on renovation projects (masonry, carpentry, woodwork ) or on educational projects about sustainable development (organic garden, green building, etc.). Saturdays and Sundays will be dedicated to the discovery of the region, French culture and occasionally to host some groups and/or cultural events. During their stay at la Maison des Bateleurs and with the support of the other volunteers and the supervising team, the volunteer is involved in : - animation of the hosting and meeting centre whose main thematic are intercultural exchange, citizenship and environment; - participation in animation and local development of the region by working in cooperation with local authority and structures of animation and education (leisure centre, youth clubs..) - supporting the projects of the municipalities or organisations, especially in the frame of the international workcamps. - Mobilization and hosting persons in situation of difficulty in their social and professional inclusion steps Your team will manage a budget for shopping, and everybody is going to prepare meals. Dates of the project: open all year. Volunteers can come between 6 to 12 months and agree with the host project on the length before their arrival. Location of the project: Montendre is a rural town with about 3200 inhabitants in a agricultural region, about 70 km north from Bordeaux and 80 km away from the Atlantic Ocean. Accommodation: Volunteers will use community rooms at the host center (sleeping, cooking, bathroom). The rooms are shared. The number of people in each room is around 4 or 5 persons. The volunteers will share a collective life with the other volunteers, and the hosted (preparation of the meal, washing the dishes, housecleaning). Languages and specific skills : The volunteers do not need to have specific skills but have to be interested in learning manual techniques and be ready to learn some French. Terminal : Bordeaux or Paris.
LTVSJ15-02 LE CENTRE DE BEAUMOTTE BEAUMOTTE - 01/01/15 31/12/15 RENO, SOCI 18+ The Project : The Centre de Beaumotte was founded in 1979 and is a non-formal educational association. It is the regional delegation of Solidarités Jeunesses' in the Franche-Comté region. The aim of our centre is to support people who have fewer opportunities and to encourage them to take responsibility for their own lives. One of the most important things we do at the centre is to simply participate in the everyday exchange that occurs when people from different social and cultural backgrounds live together. There are about 20 people who live and work at the centre, and 10 more who come to work during the day. The centre hosts teenagers and adults who are facing social and professional problems, and who often have difficulties functioning in society and perhaps do not have support from their family. They live at the centre from 6 months to one year. The exchange between the volunteers and those living at the centre is extremely important, and together we focus our efforts to realise specific projects around the centre and in neighbouring villages. Role and tasks of the volunteers: We work approximately 7 hours per day, sometimes the volunteers carry out activities in the house. Other times the volunteer work outside the house. The outside work could be: - Renovation of the centre (masonry, carpentry, etc.) - Preservation of the grounds - Renovation of the local heritage (fountains, ancient wash-houses, etc.) - Environmental projects (preservation of the river, gardening, etc.) Dates of the project: open all year. Volunteers can come between 6 to 12 months and agree with the host project on the length before their arrival. Location : The centre is located in a small, rural village where there is not much social activity. This, however, does not mean the volunteers will be either lonely or bored! At any given time there are around 30 people in the centre, with many more passing through. The Franche-Comté is a beautiful region well known for its wines, sausages and cheeses. The centre is situated on the edge of a river in the village of Beaumotte (pop. 380), in the countryside of the Haute-Saône. The nearest large towns are Vesoul (25km) and Besançon (30km), though the small town of Rioz rests just 12km away. Trips into town are organised every week based on the activity schedule. A large garden surrounds our building, and we have an activity room we call le Bateau. In le Bateau we arrange cultural activities with the young residents of the centre, and also organise events that the locals can come and participate in. Accomodation : Volunteers and residents live together in one part of the house. Our house is very big! The staff and their families live in another section of the house but we all eat and socialise together. It is important for volunteers to take part in the collective life and to try and get to know the residents because we live together as one group. The volunteers share their bedrooms with residents and usually another volunteer; there maybe 2 or 3 people in one bedroom. The rooms are mixed gender so male and female share the same room. As stated above, the daily intercultural exchange is a great way to achieve some of the goals of the project. The lives of both the volunteers and the residents are enriched as they confront their similarities and differences, and this produces some very powerful moments. As can be imagined, it can be difficult to get things running smoothly when you are living with 25 other people. To make things easier and more comfortable for everyone, there are a few rules that must be respected at the centre. The first is that, with the exception of organised special occasions, no alcohol is allowed at the centre. This is out of respect for residents who have had alcohol problems in the past. You can use your phone when you need to but we just ask that you don't use it frequently in the house. There is also a fixed phone that is available to the volunteers (you will need a phone card) and internet is also provided so you can stay connected with family and friends. The final rule is that we expect all those who live at the centre to respect night time quiet hours. Terminal : Paris

LTVSJ15-04 LA FERME DU FAI LE SAIX 01/04/15 01/11/ RENO, SOCI 18+ The Project : Villages des Jeunes is the regional delegation of Solidarités Jeunesses in the Provence Alpes Côte d Azur region. The association act for the social integration and the participation of all volunteers as a part of its action, in particular helping the socially disadvantaged, locally, nationally and internationally. Its objective is to allow people from different social and cultural situations to work together on something useful. To enable this, the association runs two international hosting centres, the Faï farm and the hamlet of Vaunières. From these places, the association leads various types of activities (workcamps for disadvantaged people and volunteers, hosting events promoting social and international exchanges ) which bring together people of different nationalities and cultures (volunteers, families, travellers) through several activities (decorating the buildings, environmental work, hospitality work, cultural activities, raising awareness about key issues such as environment) which operate within different areas both social and professional (such as vocational training, restoring abandoned buildings, preserving the buildings and the environment and thus the heritage of these places, supporting local projects and stimulating local social activities). Location : The Faï farm is situated 3,5 km from the village of Le Saix, the closest village, and 17 km from the city of Veynes, in the north of the Provence-Alpes Côte d Azur region. Located at an altitude of 1000 metres in a valley, the place benefits from a well preserved environment composed of forests and mountain rivers. The mountains around offer many possibilities for beautiful hikes. Quite close to the Faï farm (25 minutes by walking) and up in the mountains, the ruins of an old abbaye, the Abbaye of Clausonne, which have been renovated by volunteers can be visited. Le Saix, the closest village to Faï, has a population of about 80 inhabitants. It is set in a very rural area where people live mostly on agricultural and pastoral activities and are eager to develop tourism. The closest cities are: Gap (40 km), Grenoble (100 km), Sisteron (60 km), Marseille (200 km). Role and Tasks : The volunteers are part of the permanent team who runs the project throughout the opening season. They are involved transversely in all the actions that are carried out by the association. They help with the management of the centre : prepare and clean the accomodation, plan the menus, organize activities and animations, orientate and inform the newcomers. Volunteers also lead some activities and, through these activities, facilitate interactions and cultural exchanges between the very different people who come in Faï. Volunteers have a key role in supporting the permanent staff with more specific hosting, like young adults or teenagers faced with social, familial or professional difficulties. Volunteers organise activities and animations during weekdays, evenings and weekends and help the permanent team to take care of the public with more specific needs. As members of the permanent staff, volunteers are given some responsabilities and support the project of the association in the centre through different activities: gardening, cooking, technical work, preservation of the environmental, organisation of cultural events. Volunteers are also expected to be camp leaders during the international youth workcamps taking place at le Faï or in villages around. They will receive a specific training for this. Volunteers can get involved in other actions of the association such as promoting international voluntary service and international workcamps to young people and helping with the internal and external communication of the association. Accommodation: The volunteers are accommodated in the Farm House. In the house, there is a living room and kitchen reserved for the staff and the long term volunteers. The volunteers are accommodated in rooms of 2 to 4 people and have their own bathroom. Showers and toilets are situated in other buildings. One of the toilets in Faï is a dry toilet. This dry toilet is part of the project of the association to manage the use of water. Indeed, the Faï farm is located in the South of France which is quite dry, especcially during summer, and one aim of the association is to be environmentaly friendly.

LTVSJ15-05 HAMEAU DE VAUNIERES ST JULIEN EN BEAUCHENE 01/01/15 31/12/ RENO, SOCI 18+ The Project : Villages des Jeunes is the regional delegation of Solidarités Jeunesses in the Provence Alpes Côte d Azur region. The association act for the social integration and the participation of all volunteers as a part of its action, in particular helping the socially disadvantaged, locally, nationally and internationally. Its objective is to allow people from different social and cultural situations to work together on something useful. Work : The volunteers will participate in the following activities: The project/work camps: This category describes the ongoing work that occurs at Vaunières. It is the area in which education takes place, and where people can exchange through work. It concerns environmental projects (cleaning rivers, clearing brushwood, gardening), cultural heritage projects, restoring and improving projects of buildings in villages or in the hamlet. In agreement with the paid staff, the volunteers who want to may become pedagogic activity leaders on these projects. The volunteers will be housed in social hosting along with other young people. They will stay in Vaunières for one month to one year. They will overcome important obstacles, family and school related, etc. Sharing collective life (workshop, meals, evening activities), the volunteers will accompany the young people in their journey towards remobilization. Hosting: The hamlet of Vaunières has space to welcome groups, families and individuals who are on holiday and/or desire to participate in projects. The volunteers will be encouraged to participate in leading these activities (cooking, organising cultural nights, games, hikes in the mountain). Cultural activities: We strongly encourage the volunteers to join our team in designing and organising cultural activities which take place in Vaunières or in the nearby villages. The team of the hamlet has put specific tools in place which will enable the volunteers to appropriate this aspect of life on the site. Personal projects are seen as a way to reflection, discovery and personal enrichment for the volunteers, and to this end, after an initial period of settling in, the volunteer will have the chance to carry out one or more individual or collective projects that go along with the goals of the overall project. Special Requirements: - have a genuine interest in the proposed activities; - be willing to live in a group for several months; - be particularly interested in the collective social housing project - be aware that the hamlet of Vaunières is located on a mountain in a very isolated place. - Want experience life deep in the heart of Nature Location: Vaunieres village is situated in the low Alps (alt 1200) and is set in the heart of the mountains. The weather is the one you get in the south of France, it is sunny and dry although it gets quite chilly at night since we are in the mountains. Moreover, there can be a lot of snow in winter, from December to February. Dates of the project: open all year. Volunteers can come between 6 to 12 months and agree with the host project on the length before their arrival. Terminal : Lyon, Marseille or Paris

LTVSJ15-06 REV BEAUVOISIN 01/01/15 31/12/15, RENO, SOCI 18+ The project: Solidarités Jeunesses is an organisation that works for non-formal education. It runs a number of small community centres in rural environments and organises short and long-term international workcamps, social integration projects, training programmes and actions for international solidarity. Founded in 1974 by a small group of locals, le Réseau d'entraide Volontaire has become regional delegation of Solidarités Jeunesses in Role and tasks of the volunteers: Volunteers will get to know and take an active part in the projects of our association: animation of one afternoon per week for kids from primary school, workshops with youngsters from the village, activities with older people from the seniors' residence, English conversation workshops with locals, hosting groups... depending on the different partnerships and their own proposals. They will also participate in the renovation and maintenance of the organization's house and do some gardening (we have chicken and cultivate some vegetables and want to make the garden a real meeting point for us and the villagers). During their stay, volunteers could also be involved in a long term work camp and help to restore local patrimony or preserve environment in a community of the area. The different projects, works and tasks of collective life (kitchen teams, cleaning...) will take about 30h per week. We are also organizing short term work camps and youth exchanges in summer in the region of Languedoc- Roussillon. The volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a training for animators and be campleaders. They will learn French, participate in cultural activities and use their talents to enrich the project and life of the association. Location of the project: The house is located in the centre of the village of Beauvoisin (pop. 4000), 15 km from Nimes and 40 km from Montpellier. A bus runs between Beauvoisin and Nimes 3 times per day. The sea is just 35 km away, and the surrounding areas are very rich and diverse, offering visitors the chance to see the plains of Camargue, the mountains of Cevennes, the Mediterranean Sea, vineyards, olive groves, natural reserves and local monuments. Accommodation: All long term volunteers live in the village house in rooms with max. 4 people. They do daily activities together (cooking, cleaning, budget, excursions, etc.), with the help of the permanent staff and the elected officials of the association who live in the vicinity. Languages and specific skills : Basic English would be great. We also want volunteers to be interested in the projects they're applying to and that they are aware of the different tasks (including physical work, collective life, animation) and the rural area, far from the city. Driver's licence appreciated. Dates of the project: open all year. Volunteers can come between 6 to 12 months and agree with the host project on the length before their arrival.
LTVSJ15-07 VIRVOLT LA FERTE SOUS JOUARRE 01/09/15 31/08/16, RENO, SOCI 18+ The Project : The Village International de Rencontres VOLonTaires (International village of volunteer's meeting), propose an unusual outdoor hosting place and an international dynamic to promote the encounters among youth from different social and geographical backgrounds through workcamps, youth exchanges and European trainings. The Ile-de-France regional delegation of Solidarites Jeunesses was founded in 1995 to develop the dynamic of international workcamps in the region of Ile de France. Established since 2007 in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, it became the VIR'VOLT organization. The loan of a communal caamping site since 2009 enabled the association to host all the year long international volunteers and to start promoting social inclusion activities for local disadvantaged youth based on the principle of «working together, living together» The International village is a self-managed structure (cooking, cleaning, place's maintenance) in which we pay a special attention to the respect for the environment (waste sorting, vegetable garden, ecologic toilets). Location : Vir'Volt is established in the ex-municipal campging site of la Ferté-sous-Jouarre, in the north of Seine-et-Marne department. La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, which has inhabitants, is close to the Champagne region, and at only 15 minutes from Meaux and 40 minutes from Paris by train. The organization is situated closed to the city center, on the Marne riverside. Main stores, city center, and railway station are accessible by walking. In the city or nearby, there are a swimming pool, a public library, many organizations, the Royal Boui Boui circus (Vir'Volt's neighborhood), a dairy, the Big War museum (Meaux), and also a rich historical local heritage (Vaux-le-Vicomte, medieval city of Provins, Blandy-les-Tours castle) ROLE AND TASKS OF VOLUNTEERS : The activities organized with the volunteers concern mainly manual workshops carried out together with local youth at risk of social exclusion. The volunteers and youth work together in the garden, do some renovation and restoration of buildings, etc..., and help in the kitchen to prepare the lunch. Volunteers could be a good example for the Stagiaires showing them how to work in groups. The work is undertaken in a team and managed under the responsibility of a qualified technical supervisor. Volunteers will learn also techniques on educational projects about sustainable development such as organic garden, green house, compost area, etc... Other activities carried out by the volunteers include : - organizing workshops in schools, - leading international summer workcamps, - and promoting the association through local events. The volunteer will also support the staff of the association in organising the hosting of youth groups, seminars and international training sessions organised during the sping/summer period in the project site. Volunteer Project: We strongly believe that volunteering should be an opportunity to reflect, to experiment and to take initiatives. That is why we think it is important for the volunteer during his/her voluntary service to implement one or several personal ideas in accordance with the values and the project of the association if he/she wants. As a part of the daily tasks, the team of volunteers will manage a budget for shopping and will e in charge of some routine tasks such us cleaning and cooking. Once a week volunteers will assist to a French lesson and they'll be able to take part in other activities in the town if they wish. Important to know that long term volunteers will work with youths ages from 16 to 25 who are called Accomodation : All year long, Vir'Volt is hosting 4 to 5 long term volunteers from different countries. The volunteers will live in the camping zone of Vir'Volt. They will share the small house with other volunteers and the staff. The house has a bathroom, a kitchen with all the necessary tools for cooking, staff offices and a room which is used for meetings, to have lunch and where volunteers can spend time together by playing guitar, talking or simply enjoying their free time. Long term volunteers will sleep in Roulottes (wooden houses) with cosy bedrooms, dry toilet and with the heating which is available during the winter.
We provide bed sheets, as well as towels and working clothes if needed. The collective aspect is an important part of the project. The volunteer will participate in the group life, together with the staff, interns and the guests and will share lunch during the week. A computer with internet access is available in the house. Some bikes are also available. Dates of the project: The volunteers usually arrive in September and stay for one year. LTVSJ15-08 CITRUS LAGUEPIE 01/09/15 31/08/16, RENO, SOCI 18+ The project: Solidarités Jeunesses is an organisation that works for non-formal education. It runs a number of small community centres in rural environments and organises short and long-term international workcamps, social integration projects, training programmes and actions for international solidarity. Created in 2003, the association CITRUS, represents the project of Solidarités Jeunesses in Midi-Pyrénées. The main activities of the association CITRUS are the organisation of workcamps with international volunteers, the organisation of workshops raising awareness on the environment, and the promotion of volunteering. Role and tasks of the volunteers: Volunteers will work 30 to 35 hours per week and take their holidays in consultation with the team, according to the season and needs of the association. Two half days per week are given to the conception and realisation of a personal project and for the langage trainings. By participating in workshops and meetings organised by the association, volunteers are actively involved in the associative life, contribute to the general organization of the implemented activities, and can propose their own ideas. - Manual work: Volunteers will participate to the renewing and reconstructing of an old farm and its buildings, which is called La Mayounelle, in order to create a centre of reception and intercultural meeting, as well as the restoration of the small buildings in the surrounding municipalities. The work is undertaken in a team, and managed under the responsibility of a qualified technical supervisor. - Local animation: The volunteers will participate regularly in activities of local animation, in cultural events or in activities with educational character in partnership with the municipalities, institutions and the local associations. The association supports for example the local schools to set up workshops regarding the environment, within the framework of the project of the collective garden. - Workcamps: Long term volunteers may become campleaders during the summer in other villages of the region, under the support of the permanent staff. Every year, a collective training of one week is organised by Solidarités Jeunesses to enable them to acquire the necessary skills to function as workcamp leader. They can also invest themselves in the preparation of workcamps (prenegotiation meetings, logistic support, establishment of tools, selection of the location etc.) Location of the project: the project is in Laguépie, a small village with 730 inhabitants, in the region Pays Midi-Quercy, situated in a rural and isolated area, about hundred kilometres north-eastern of Toulouse. This territory of Occitan traditions is covered by an associative net, which organises social and cultural activities, in an environment marked by weak economic activities and the ageing of the population. Laguépie is about thirty kilometres from the towns of Albi ( inhabitants), Gaillac ( inhabitants), and Villefranchede-Rouergue ( inhabitants), and also about 70 km from the city of Montauban ( inhabitants). Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in collective housing, share rooms (2 to 3 volunteers per room) in a big house in the centre of the village, which is provided by the municipality. All the hosted people participate in the tasks of daily life and are requested to respect the collectively established rules of life - schedules, sharing out daily tasks, etc - everything that concerns the intercultural exchange. The volunteers will have regular and free access to Internet, a telephone line in order to receive calls at the hosting place, and by looking out for possibilities of transportation according to needs (bicycles, minibus, public transport possibilities by bus in the local area, and train station in Laguépie : one hour by train from Toulouse). Languages and specific skills : We expect that the volunteer has a good understanding of the global project, and that he or she wants to be part of the group dynamic of and the collective life. We consider volunteering as an act of exchange between a volunteer, who offers his or her time, work, and energy for the benefit of a project of common interest and a host community that offers the volunteer a field of learning, testing and personal development. We ask that volunteers are motivated, open minded and ready to make concessions in order to work as a team and live with other people very different.
Terminal : Toulouse, Paris Dates of the project: open all year. Volunteers can come between 6 to 12 months and agree with the host project on the length before their arrival.
