Brief introduction about CYA Cambodian Youth Action (CYA) founded in October 10, 2010 by Mr. SORN SOPHAT as a non-governmental organization and registered legally in Ministry of Interior of Royal Government of Cambodia in Noverber 11, CYA is a volunteer based organization where all of our staff are working voluntarily toward our vision and mission. We are also known as the first International Voluntary Service (IVS) Workcamp organization in Cambodia among IVS network in the world (NVDA, CCIVS, ALLIANCE of European voluntary serivce). CYA became full member of Network for Voluntary Development in Asia (NVDA) and Coordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (CCIVS). CYA is also partnership with Servie Civil International (SCI) since 2012 and in a guest status of ALLIANCE of European voluntary Service for two years, VISION A world where global citizens are fully participated voluntarily contributing to create a peaceful and sustain development world. MISSION To bring people together with different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures to live, share, and discuss about global issues on the purpose of personal growth, social engagement, and sustainable development. WHAT WE BELIEVE CYA believes that through organizing international voluntary service activities, youth and young people around the world will have chance to meet, share, discuss, and learn from each in order to create their better future and sustainable development in rural/remote community where the children and young people will have more chance to see the world outside their place. CYA PROGRAMS To reach our vision and walk along our mission, CYA has been working on three main specific areas, children and teenager s education, community improvement of the living standard, and environmental preservation and protection together with different programs: Children & Teenager s Education Community improvement of living standard Environmental preservation and protection Throughout the year CYA is organizing different volunteering program for our int l volunteers and with our international partners. The program includes: - Int l Workcamp/Short Term Volunteer - Group/Bilateral Program - Long and Middle Term Volunteer LMTV(2 month 1 year) - Weekend Workcamp Mini workcamp (VSTV) We welcome your motivated volunteers to any

Introduction to int l workcamp/short term volunteer All Short Term Workcamps (STC) last for two weeks with fixed dates Besides the main project, there will be time for sharing with Cambodian volunteers and language learning/ culture exchange and other activities in the communities There will not be any special skills are required, only positive motivation and being open minded Living conditions will be in Cambodian style (willingness to adapt and enjoy simple living conditions) For every STC we provide an info-sheet with more detailed information and workcamp schedule to sending organization Age limitation: for our short-term workcamp, we will only accept the volunteer from 18 until 45 years old. There will only be up to 3 persons from the same nationality will be accepted in each workcamp. III. Description of each project site 4.1 CheaSmon Primary and Secondary School (CSP) In late 2014, CYA is requested to have the project in this community, CheaSmon village, in cooperating with CheaSmon primary and secondary school. The project aims at providing opportunity for children to have chances to learn languages, computer, and to have access to global education/information, creating more job opportunities for villagers, and helping local school to have proper facilities and materials for their education program. In 2016, CYA has successfully organized the workcamps in this campsite with 131 international volunteers participated and this year 2017, CYA is going to organize different activities to achieve our goals in supporting 1) students education; 2) school facilities and security; and 3) community improvement according to the needs assessment we conducted early Education: - Teaching children English, arts, and computer to students - organizing reading activities - Hygiene classes, and environmental classes. Physical Work: - Painting and renovating classrooms - Help Chea Smon secondary school to improve their school facility - Help Chea Smon primary school set up kindergarten class Food and Accommodation All the volunteers are going to live in a local family house with basic living facility is provided mosquito net, blanket, pillows, and mattress. There are fans provided, but sometimes it is not needed due to the change of temperature in the early morning. The toilet and shower room is shared with the host family
5 and the volunteers. The food also provided by the hosting family, but you are welcome to assist in daily cooking. 4.2 TrapaingSangke Fishing and Eco-Tourism Center Trapaing Sangke Fishing Community now is a well known as Eco-tourism place in Kampot city so we are working to transform a local fishing community to become an eco-tourism site by helping them making bridges for tourist to explore the area inside mangrove forest, planting mangroves to protect the sea level rise for the villages and saving fish in the fish production season, teaching basic English for local children, and participate with local people in collecting and planting mangroves seeds. In 2017, CYA is planning to create a space where tourists can enjoy the beautiful sunset inside the mangrove forest. TFC welcomes individuals who are passionate about environmental and physical contribution. As an eco-village, you are not only working as active promoters for environmental and sealife preservation, but enjoying the atmosphere of the natural environment. Physical Work: - Cleaning around the community center - Collecting the seeds and seedling mangrove - Maintenance the mangroves - Constructing the space for sunset Cultural and Educational involvement - Organizing the workshop, cultural exchange with the community children ( children are not able to involve with the community everyday, but making effort to provide them some educational and cultural engagement is an appreciation from the community) Food and accommodation: Volunteers are going to stay in the bungalows which is provided by the community as their sustainable project to support the income generation initiatives. The bungalows are equipped with mosquito net, mattress, blanket, pillows, and fan. The volunteers are also going to share the toilet and shower with each other. The food is going to be prepared by the volunteers in CYA KITCHEN, so that the volunteers are going to take the cooking activities as one of the workcamp activities.
6 4.3 Khmer Smile School (KSS) Since 2013, CYA-Khmer Smile School was started to provide English course to local children and teenagers. By seeing the needs of the poor in the village, House Building project also started to build the house for the poor family, and donating some foods for hungry people in this rural community. We believe that through working together, we can make this community a better place and help our children to create their better future. Khmer SmileSchool aims to provide free access to informal education for the local youth, teenagers, and children in Spean Chreav community, Siem Reap province where their parents generate income to support families by being a tuktuk driver, moto taxi, farmers, and fishermen as many of them are uneducated. In 2017, we plan to re - constructing our school building according to the needs of the students, establishing handicraft center, set up new library and computer center. CYA continues working to support poor families to fix their houses and build toilets. One special activity during the project is Cambodian Real Life Experiencing. We provide International volunteers chance to experience the living with local families and this year we also work with local community school which is 5mn walk from CYA-Khmer Smile school to help them improve tits facility and education part. Education: - Teaching children English, arts to local children and teenagers, providing reading supports with kids. - Organizing hygiene and sanitation classes Physical Work: - Constructing the new classrooms - Building/ fixing house and toilet for local family - Helping local family doing income generation activities - Help local community school to build trash bins and trash burner - Help local community school to repaint their school building Food and Accommodation All the volunteers are going to live in a local family house with basic living facility is provided mosquito net, blanket, pillows, and mattress. There are fans provided, but sometimes it is not needed due to the change of temperature in the early morning. The toilet and shower room is shared with the host family and the volunteers. The food also provided by the hosting family, but you are welcome to assist in daily cooking.
7 4.4 CYA Learning Center Kampot (CLC kampot) CYA - LEARNING CENTER (CLC) started in May 2014 and we are now providing a free alternative education for children and teenagers in Praphnom commune, Angkor Chey district, Kampot province. Three classrooms were built and 285 students are now studying English with their international and local volunteer s teachers. CYA Learning Center is now also providing the computer course for the teenagers and one library is now accessing free by CYA-learning Center students and children around the community. Because of the fast development of this project, in 2016, CYA is going to work closely with local people in the community for income generation. For income generation program CYA is going to work on organic farming and handicraft to involve local people in the farming process and making local products for selling in the city. At the same time, CYA also plans to create a weekend market where farming products and handcraft products will be sell here. In 2016, CYA Learning Center is in needs of more volunteers to help us implementing our project and there will be many things for volunteers to learn from. We welcome all motivated volunteers to join us in making change in this community and learn great thing from this community as well. Join us at CYA Learning Center to bring the parents back home to the village, to bring the children back to school, to make Russeydom a lively village back again for hundreds of families. Join us to support our culture of peace and sustainability. Education: organizing the students with specific topic in English, conducting reading activities in the library, teaching computer skills with the students from the community. Construction: Renovating the center facilities, building new facilities Development: supporting the social enterprises at the center for sustainable development project Environment: conducting the workshop on raising awareness of environmental protection, rubbish, trash management system to be introduced in the community. Food and Accommodation The volunteers are going to stay in the volunteer hosue which is located about 100 meters away from the center. The accommodation is provided with sleeping mattress, mosquito net, pillows, and blankets. There toilet and shower room, but the the volunteers are going to share with each other. The food is going to be prepared by the hosting family, but we are asked to wash the dishes by ourselves.
8 4.5 CYA Global Education Center Siem Reap (GLC-SR) CYA GLOBAL EDUCATION CENTER SIEM REAP was started in August 2016 as a non-profit education center which aims at providing free alternative education for children and teenagers, providing local youth and local people chances to learn languages, computer, and to have access to global education/information through internet and our library and to have their first chance to meet and interact with different people from different cultures and backgrounds from around the world. Handicraft center is going to be the next step of development to involve the women in the community having jobs to do beside working in the field, and to keep them busy from doing useless things. GEC needs your mental and physical contribution for these foundations; we welcome all motivated individuals for the winter! At the starting point of setting the Global Education Center, we welcome motivated individuals for supporting us to make it happen for the community children and families for access of global information and the income generation Education: - Teaching children English and arts to local children and teenagers - Organizing hygiene and sanitation classes - Organizing reading activities in the library with the students Physical Work: - Help GEC-SR to build its facilities - Paint the school building - Doing gardening in the school campus - Establish handcraft center Food and Accommodation The volunteers are going to stay in Angkor Voluntary House which is a guesthouse providing a proper facility for the volunteers which is bed with mattresses, fan, pillows and blanket. There is a shower room and toilet in each room provided. The food will be prepared by the staff, but we are asked to make the washing by ourselves. There is wifi provided, but limited of data usage.
9 5 Information sheet The information sheet will be sent to the sending organization at latest one month before the camp start and it will contain all the detail information about project activities, free time, what will you need to bring, what we expect from volunteers, how to get to the campsite, and so on. 6 Financial condition/participation fee Cambodian Youth Action (CYA) is a not for profit, non-governmental organization which has no funding support from any funding agencies therefore, all participants are required to pay the participation fee. The participation fee is payable via our bank account and it will be USD220 which is covering the food, accommodation during the project and any project expenses. Volunteers are requested to bear their own health and travel insurance. The participation fee will be paid on the arrival day as the volunteers are going to be provided the orientation session by CYA, and the fee to paid is going to be done right after that. Optionally, if you would like to make a transfer through the bank system, we here provide the bank information as shown below.
