1 Welcome to the Rose City Parrot Head Club Newsletter. Greetings Parrot Heads and hello Spring, I ve missed you. Our Tyler, TX tradition since 2010 continues to thrive! We celebrated our 200th member at the last happy hour of 2010 and we are still growing. Over the last couple months your board has been busy planning In January our new board elected that our phund raising efforts will benefit Breckenridge Village once again as well as the East Texas Crisis Center. Planning has already commenced on the Chili Cook Off slated for March 4-5 and the 2nd Annual Tails & Tunes Crawfish Boil which will be Easter weekend again. I m honored that trop-rock singer Jerry Diaz will be playing poolside. For any of you that haven t heard his music you will be impressed. He is regularly heard on Margaritaville Satellite radio and many Parrot Head events all over the country. This will be a great event but get your tickets early as we will limit the event to the first 200 Parrot Heads. We intend to have about the same amount of events this year and just improve on them but you never know what kind of crazy Parrot Head event could be just around the corner. Your board has also designed some new merchandise for 2011 which we will have on display at the Chili Cook Off. I have had some questions on membership renewals so I thought I would answer as many as possible. If you joined in March your renewal dues are up in March. They will be the same as last year ($30 for singles and $35 for couples). If you see Sherial Hamby, Director of Membership or she sends you an please help her out and respond promptly. With the size of our club that makes for a lot of s and tracking down members. Feel free to pay your dues at any happy hour and save a stamp. Nationally, PHiP has grown to almost 300 clubs. We are just out of the top 25 in total club size but I look for us to grow even more this year. You would think by now we would be planning a great big Jimmy Buffett tailgate party right? Well, as many of you know he is playing Houston on May 5 and should be headed this way normally but instead he is playing Jazz Fest in New Orleans and I know some of our members are headed that way. This year we are eligible for club concert tickets, presuming there is a concert. At this point I don t see a Frisco show on the horizon but I can assure you that if his ticket people get in touch with me I will let you you know right away. A few rumors have circulated about a fall show, but again they are just rumors. We always like to hear from our members so give us your input on anything you would like the club to try out this year and we will gladly listen. I guess it s time to start digging out my Mardi Gras beads, pick up a case of Landshark and start celebrating Mardi Gras I hope to see ya ll soon and thanks for your continued membership. Phins Up! We participated in a PATH (People Attempting to Help) school supply drive. RCPH raised $ in cash donations and collected 2 large bags of children s school supplies. AUGUST 2010 Monthly Happy Hour was at Jalapeno Tree and we raised $ for our charities. Membership is now at 167. SEPTEMBER 2010 RCPH closed the summer with a lake party where we raised over $5, for our charities. Special thanks to Linda Rudd and Steve Hellmuth! October 2010 RCPH participated in Buddy Walk where 10 members walked and collectively donated $ and 20 community hours. Monthly Happy Hour was at Clear Springs and we raised $50.00 for our charities. Membership is at 191. November 2010 RCPH presented a check to our charity Breckenridge Village in the amount of $7, Monthly Happy Hour was at Jalapeno Tree and we raised $ for Charity. Membership has surpassed 200! December 2010 Monthly Happy Hour was at Breakers and we raised $ for charity. PHIP Meeting of the Minds convention was held in Key West, Florida. 3 Upcoming Events Rose City Chili Pod - March this is a BYOB event. Happy Hour - March 31st -will be held at Breakers 2nd Annual Tails n Tunes - Crawfish Boil April 23rd -this will be held at the home of Fred and Merri Walsh. Happy Hour - April 28th -location TBD On another note, the North Texas Chapter of PHC has disbanded due to low member numbers. They have donated their remaining funds to a charity Sharkstock and we have asked any members who are still interested in the PHC to join our chapter. If you have any question regarding any upcoming event please contact: rosecityparrotheadclub@yahoo.com This years Jimmy Buffett concert in Frisco, Texas has NOT been scheduled yet.
