Hoorah! Spring is finally here with the Parks drying out, boats showing up on the lake and the lawn mowers competing with the growing grass! Your Board of Directors have been examining past budgets and forecasting needs to make the proposed budget reflect the actual costs it takes to run and maintain our Home Owners Association. The Board started working on the proposed budget in January with much thought of what kind of items to include or leave out. Old budgeting policies have been talked about and evaluated, and new policies and understandings made, in order to produce our proposed budget. This Budget is being introduced at a specially called Town Hall Meeting. We d like your input and opinions. Please join us by attending this meeting on Saturday May 19, at 10am in our MPC. The Board is aware that its responsibility to you is: The HOA is to be run in a manner that maintains its monetary investments without risk to the membership, the physical assets such as parks, buildings and water system are maintained with professional confidence, the employees that work for you are friendly, smart, and provide services that you can be proud of, and above all done with honesty and transparency and the willingness to answer questions. Some of our developments of the past month are: Our CPR/First Aid Class is scheduled Tuesday May 22, at 6pm in our MPC. There is a $10 a person sign-up cost, with the HOA picking up the remainder $20 cost. Please sign up early. This class will be posted on the Timberlake reader boards. Our portable heart defibrillator has been refurbished and is now mounted in the MPC. The Lake Safety Committee is working on registering members boats, stay tuned for more information on this. Bring your appetite to some great Activity Committee breakfasts and BBQ s coming up. These are a fun way to chow-down, support our Activity Committee and meet a few neighbors too! That s all for now, Happy Fishing! Tom Hanson Timberlake Board President MESSAGE FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT What a busy first part of the year for the board of directors and the office. We have been working since January on our Community's budget trying to take into consideration all of the needs the community presents. The office staff has been busy helping us compile our budget needs and Sheila has been working very closely with our Treasurer, Maryanne, to ensure that everything comes out as it should for the budget. We are looking at all needs and what expenditures need to happen. It is nice to see the trees leafing out and all the beautiful flowers and trees blooming. It is also nice to see that properties are starting to get the cleanup taken care of from winter build up, and that we are all taking pride in our community by doing our part on our own property. I hear people talking about their gardens and gardening, and I have mine started and I am enjoying the sunshine and the warmer weather to get my vegetables and flowers started. The office is seeing new faces coming in and snowbirds returning from the south. We are seeing a lot more activity out in the community. It is nice to see people out walking and enjoying the beautiful weather and the beauty of our area. As you are walking stop by and say hi to a neighbor. That is all for now. I am looking forward to planting a garden, fishing, and BBQs with friends and family. Mmmmmm! I can almost taste those savory burgers and Italian sausage on the grill. Our thoughts have been filled with budget forecasts and figures as we determine department budgets. Please join us on May 19 at 10 am for the preview of the 2019 budget. Respectfully submitted, MaryAnne Preece; Treasurer General Income & Expenses: Water Income & Expenses: WATER & MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENTS Well summer is trying to get here. Marcus and Craig have started the mowing season. Just a couple of things going on this cycle that are keeping us busy. The Water and Maintenance budgets have taken a lot of time to figure out. Also, the Water Board has approved the bid for the new Booster Pump System. After a lot of work by Marcus Vind, Tom Hanson, Bill Bruder, Scott Woods, Dennis Winchel, James Taylor and Terry Hubbard going over the bids and talking to the contractors, the water board picked Grundfoes to do the work and the Timberlake Board approved their choice. Craig and Marcus will be putting all new LED light bulbs in the MPC, Maintenance shop, Pump house, storage shed and new LED outside fixtures. They will be changing over to LED bulbs and outside fixtures because of the electrical cost savings to Timberlake. The best news is that PUD #3 will refund us 70% of the cost of labor, materials, and rentals that will be used doing the work as long as we cut our wattage of bulbs and fixtures by 50%. Permits from L&I and the paperwork from PUD #3 giving the OK have been applied for and approved for Timberlake. If you would like some free LED bulbs while they last, stop by PUD #3 and they will give you 8 for free, they are equal to 60 watt bulbs. They are really good and have a long life plus save energy. Enjoy the parks and disk golf course. Terry L. Hubbard, Water/Maintenance Director WATER DEPARTMENT Hello from the Water department. Hopefully the wet weather is coming to an end. When things start drying up, and you are doing yard work, or going on a walk, and see water that is typically not there, please call the office so we can investigate it. It is hard for us to find water leaks in the winter with all the rain, so now we are on the look out. Members eyes are our best tool and have been very helpful in the past. So if you suspect a leak, don t hesitate to call. It helps us out and we really appreciate it. Thanks, Marcus Vind, Water Manager

We felt the need to shake things up a bit. We hope everyone enjoys the French Toast in June instead. Catherine Hubbard, Activity Committee President MESSAGES FROM THE OFFICE I was thinking the other day about when I came to Timberlake Community Club. I was amazed by the amount of complaints regarding the billing. I listened to these complaints and dove into the issues at hand and figured out how to solve the problems. Now we get very few complaints regarding the billing. Although no one or nothing is perfect I would say our improvement ratio has been tremendous. We often hear from our members now of how pleasant it is to come into or call the office. It is nice to be appreciated! Sheila Hedlund Member Services Manager Things in the office are going really well. I have adjusted to my new job and duties in the last 90 days. I have gotten an opportunity to meet a lot more of the members and I am enjoying working at Timberlake. Looks like spring is finally coming around very slowly, but the weather is getting nicer and nicer every day. Love seeing all the beauty Timberlake s has to offer here with the woodsy atmosphere. I look forward to being here for a long time. If we haven t met, stop on by and get some coffee, tea, or popcorn and say hello! Have a wonderful beginning to your spring and enjoy the beauty of summertime. Pam Thorne-Cochran, Member Services PERMITTING COMMITTEE Happy Springtime! Permitting has definitely picked up. Members have been taking advantage of the nice weather! A reminder for this Spring, please make the effort to apply for building permits. We will come out to make sure you are building within your property lines. Sometimes your property line is not where you think, and we can help you with that. Here s our permitting numbers for the year to date: 1 Garage, 4 Tree Cutting, 7 Fence permits, 6 Homes, 2 Carports, 2 Sheds and a variety of phone calls. Thank you. We have many good members and neighbors who take pride in their homes. Besides the appearance of our community, we also need to think about the sounds in our neighborhoods. I receive many complaints about dogs who bark endlessly and keep people awake. Please be a good pet owner and not only contain them on your property or on a leash while out and about, but also have consideration for your neighbors who may sleep at unusual hours, or those who are infirm or babies who desperately need rest. It may be necessary to have them indoors at night to contain their barking. While walking with your four-legged friends, make sure you have bags to pick up after them. And finally, as the warm weather approaches, please make sure your pets have shelter, water, and that you clean up their excrement so that the odor doesn t create an unhealthy nuisance. No animal should have to live their lives in their own feces. Be kind to your pets and neighbors, please. Cheryl, Timberlake Covenants Coordinator LAKE SAFETY COMMITTEE Our new updated lake safety and use rules were approved by the TLCC Board at the March community meeting. The new rules are available at the MPC or online at timberlakecc.com. Every TLCC member is encouraged to read and follow the new updated rules so we can all keep our lakes as safe as possible. Please remember that it is the responsibility of members to inform their guests of these new updated rules and to make sure they are followed. The boating season is just a few weeks away so it is very important that members with power boats do two things before the season begins: 1) Complete a Washington State Boater s Education course which can be done online for free at www. Boatus.org/Washington. Once you complete the course, submit your Certificate of Course Completion along with an application (which can be found at www. Parks.wa.gov/boating) to the Washington State Parks and Recreation office for a Boater s Education Card. This card is now required by the state and to register your boat with TLCC. The state of Washington requires that any operator of a watercraft with a motor of 15 horsepower or more have a Washington State Boater Education Card. The only

4 exceptions to having a card are members who were born before January 1, 1955 or have a current U.S. Coast Guard Marine Operator s License. 2) All power boats are required to register with TLCC this year. To register a boat, you must be a member of TLCC, have a current State boat registration, and a Washington State Boater s Education Card. Only boats that are 16 feet or longer and/or with greater than 10 horsepower motors are required to register with Washington State and TLCC. To help make this process as convenient and efficient as possible, the Lake Safety Committee will have several boat registration days scheduled during May and June. The dates and times will be posted on the reader boards. Boat registration can also take place at the MPC during normal working hours. We are in need of more volunteers for the Lake Safety Committee. If you are interested, please provide your contact information to the MPC staff. Let s all do what we can to make our lakes safe and enjoyable for all users by following the lake safety and use rules and being courteous to each other. Timberlake Community Club is offering the Timberlake Membership an accredited CPR/First Aid Class. This class is at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday May 22 in our MPC. The class will be approximately 3 hours. Timberlake Members wishing to attend are urged to sign up soon, as class size will be limited. Please sign up in person or by phoning the office at (360) Cost is $10.00 per person. Members attending will receive a proof of training card, along with all training materials. DID YOU KNOW? If you need a tractor for spring time duties such as spreading gravel or digging a trench, your Timberlake Maintenance Department can help. Depending on availability, we ll provide a tractor with an operator to help with your tasks. Member cost is $75.00 per hour. Call the office at (360) to schedule. AUTOMATIC PAYMENT PLAN Our Automatic payment plan is up and running! If you would like to sign up for this program you may obtain a form from the website or from the office. There is a $1.50 fee per billing for this service.
