9 9 Growth Foundation of India TRANSFORMING LIVES Working on the ground Before we take you through the year that s been, here s a glimpse of what your support has helped us achieve. Ultimately, the true worth of a NGO s work shows in the lives of its beneficiaries Our journey started in 15 th august, 2006, but got registered in 21 st may, Growth Foundation of India was born with the core value and belief that it must be a democratic organization and people s voices should be listened carefully. All our programs have a common theme of people participation and enabling them to have a voice of their own. We started our work with funds raised largely from family and friends as most young organizations do. This was an important part of our journey, which bought in the spirit of volunteering and commitment to the team. Since our inception in Delhi, we have grown to other locations like Uttarakhand and planning to grow in other states too.
10 10 Growth Foundation of India Inauguration of Non-Formal Education Centre in Bhanwar Singh camp Growth Foundation of India have been running Non-formal classes in 3 slums i.e, Bhanwar Singh camp, Majnuka Tila. And shastri park. We continue to provide informal education among childrens in various slums. The organization has adopted a school inranikhet, Uttarakhand. We have covered 221 children in each slum. Our main reason for choosing informal education is to develop confidence building personality in children especially in slums. GFOI are sponsoring 31 students of Block Gangolihat district Pithoragarh For last 3yrs, and have distributed 1,100 shoes& books. We have adopted a school in nagpani in Ranikhet district.
11 11 Growth Foundation of India Health & Eye Check-up camps at Slums Growth Foundation of India have set- up HealthCheck- up camps in association with Medantamedicity at Bhawarsinghcamp. 21,100 people were covered under the health-checkup camp, X-ray done for 1,300 people and 550 people were given further assistance. We have organized health Check-up camps for CRPF. The organization is constantly spreading awareness by distributing booklets. We also had done many awareness programs related to health and hygiene in various schools ofdelhi and Uttarakhand.
12 12 Growth Foundation of India Blood Donation Camp with assistance of Abhyuday Foundation Growth Foundation of India with assistance of Abhyuday Foundation has Organized many Blood Donation Camp. Both the organization with Full coordination motivated at least 925Voluntary donors. The total footfall of the event hasbeen 925 out of which 719 Voluntary Blood Donors were the fortunate members who successfully could donate their blood for the cause.
13 13 Growth Foundation of India Anti-tobacco campaign has been organized by Growth Foundation of India in various schools and areas of Delhi and Uttarakhand. The message of cancer awareness was conveyed with the help of different acts like Puppet show and Nukkad Natak (street plays), Causes and consequences of cancer were shown to children and also measures to prevent them were taught to them. The aim of the campaign was to help children understand the root cause of disease. Around 32,250 children was covered under this campaign. Cancer Awareness Drive
14 14 Growth Foundation of India Initiative towards saving environment Growth Foundation of India works for the betterment of environmental justice in partnership with people and groups from diverse sections of society. We celebrated world environment day on June 5 by donating plants to the people with the message to take care of the environment and how much it s important for the survival. We also distributed more than 6500 plants in various places of Delhi, along with that GFOI conducted a street playto spread awareness on importance of nature. On this event almost 500 people took pledge to support our cause.
15 15 Growth Foundation of India Clothes Donation & Health check-up camp at MajnuKaTila GrowthFoundation of India after the survey found an area in the North-West side of Delhi called MajnukaTila, where groups of people are assembled in small communities. These people were Indian refugees from Pakistan and are now gathered in the backward areas of MajnuKaTila. The organization took an important step towards them and put all their efforts to collect clothes for them. The organization was able to collect12,500 clothes from various localities& schools and distributed them to the people of Majnuka Tila. While Organizing cloth donation campalso organized a health check-up camp for all the people of that community.
16 16 Growth Foundation of India Initiative towards empowering women Growth Foundation of India celebratedwomen s day in in the Bhawarsingh camp with the Agenda to empower & to spread the awareness among women about their rights & responsibilities. This was spread by arranging a speech by Ms. Salsa Sharma, an aspiring biker who have travelled the whole Indiain her bike. She shared her personalexperience about the life and trips. A lot of women were inspired by her speech and her life. We organized many games and Quizzesto indulge the women and prizes were also distributed amongthem.
17 17 Growth Foundation of India Book Donation Drive Growth Foundation of India started a Book Donation drive for the underprivileged children that invites people to donate their books for a good cause. The book donation drive in New Delhi, is organized through drop boxes placed at schools, residential apartments and colonies. Many individuals have also come forward and donated books for the underprivileged children. Around 25,000 books were collected with the help of 35 schools, RWA s and the people of different localities. The Books which were collected through Book Donation drive were used to open library and will beused to help underprivileged children.
18 18 Growth Foundation of India Set-up of Library for slum children Growth Foundation of India believes that a library is a treasure-house of knowledge. A well-stocked library is an asset to the school, college, university. All the books that were collected in Book Donation drive were used in the library that is setup in Bhawar Singh camp, VasantVihar. The children can borrow those books to read and study them at ease at their home. Other Activities An event for Shradhanjali to pathankot martyr was organized by Growth Foundation of India at Lodhi garden. During Ram Leela GFOI spreaded awareness related Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Swach Bharat abhiyaan. We distributed 5000Books to the needy children in that event.
19 19 Growth Foundation of India Inauguration of Old Age Home Growth Foundation of Indiastarted old age home named Sahara with the motive of providing home, comfort andpeace to the senior citizen whoare been neglected by theirchildren. The old age home is big enough to provide roof to 18 number of people. Sahara the old age home have 6 room which will have 18 old aged people, a library consist of devotional Books (Ramayana, Bhagwat Gita, Quran&bible), a sports room and a herbal garden. There are 7 staff for helping the senior persons.
20 20 Growth Foundation of India Self-help group Growth Foundation of India runs a number of Self Help Groups for women in the slum areas of Delhi and various districts of Uttarakhand. The main objective is to enable slumdwelling women to attain social empowerment by achieving economic independence. Wehave formed a batch of221 groupof women & also formed a group of 200 people in minority populationat haldwani, Uttarakhand. The groups of women are taught about sewing and how to make envelope with old newspapers. By learning all these things the women are able to earn by themselves.
