1 Through Trial To Triumph

2 Message from the Executive Director After the fury of the most devastating typhoon that hit the country last November 2013, thousands of lives were lost; and millions of houses, schools, and livelihood facilities were damaged and destroyed. The work was massive, yet we saw the cities and municipalities we worked with (Tacloban, Ormoc, Tanauan, Tolosa, Palo, Daanbantayan, Medellin, the Province of Leyte, Cebu, Iloilo, Bohol, Eastern Samar and Aklan) rose from the fallen rubbles to new organized, disaster-prepared and changed communities. The power of partnership, volunteerism, compassion, and, most of all, our desire to help the people affected by typhoon Haiyan made us rise as one powerful force on earth to bring hope to the survivors of the most powerful storm that hit the Philippines. We would like to thank the Philippine Government Agencies and Local Government Units, the UN Agencies, the International Non-Government Organizations, the People s Organizations, Civil Societies, Universities, Corporations, Churches, and Individual-caring people from all walks of life who worked with us hand in hand from our emergency response to recovery efforts for typhoon Haiyan. Moises Jun G. Velasco HOPE worldwide - Philippines Over US$1 million dollars and tons of goods-in-kind from our donors and partners were mobilized. These donations supported and assisted more than 330,000 survivors during the emergency response and rehabilitation works of HOPE worldwide for one year. Some of the monetary donations would also support the construction and operation of the three (3) new Centers of HOPE on 2015 in Tacloban, Ormoc and Daanbantayan. These centers would continue the recovery program on shelter, livelihood, education, health, psychosocial support and protection of children. Once again, we wish to thank all of you for devoting yourselves in helping the needy; and for choosing HOPE worldwide Philippines as your channel in giving hope and in helping the survivors of disasters. Your generosity and support are telling these people that they are not alone in their trials and are giving them strength to continue to their triumphant battle towards sustainable development.

I am thankful that I was able to be part of this special Saturday morning. - Julia Macher, Austria It felt good to volunteer even for the first time because I was with my brothers and sisters from all around the world. It felt even better when you know that this would help those who were affected by the typhoon. Bernadette Albarico, Cebu PH In fact, it gives us the opportunity to give encouragement to our fellow victims. For we have experienced the same challenges like most of the affected people. My kids are inspired and happy to be part of this activity as well.
