This states how many cannulae fit into a tube with an inner diameter of 1 (1 inch = 25.4mm) inch 1 inch The AAMI AAMI uses uses only only even even numbers numbers (18, (18, 20, 22, 20, etc.) 22, as etc.) measuring as measuring units. A similar measurement definition exists in Great Britain and this is known as the SWG (Standard Wire Gauge).
