3 At the beginning The surgical techniques in the field of gynecologic oncology undergoes significant changes with technological innovations. Life-long learning is an important part of continuing professional developmental activities and should be supported by well-structured courses. It is essential to learn the applied surgical anatomy and the surgical principles of open and laparoscopic surgery with concise lectures focused to the proper surgical technique, hints, and pitfalls to prevent and to solve the complications, given by experienced educators. The surgical procedures as well as the training process will be more effective with a multidisciplinary educational environment including the disciplines of anatomy, radiology, general surgery and gynecologic oncology. The two day hands-on course will be organized with TRSGO and MEMAGO on open and laparoscopic surgery in gynecologic oncology. The practical part will include a hands-on animal(pig) laboratory session. Operating room with 10 operating tables will host 20 participants. 15 open and laparoscopic surgery teachers will act as proctors. As a result of the inherent limited space, the 20 participants(gynecologic oncology fellows) will be selected after an application process. After selection by the jury, the registration process will be completed. The registration will be free of charge. The course programme will be announced later Course Objectives The Advanced Open and Laparoscopic Gynecologic Oncology Course for Gynecologic Oncology Fellows is planned to teach the surgical techniques on gynecologic oncology for advanced cervical and ovarian cancer with a multidisciplinary approach. The training methods are lectures, videos, and hands-on open and laparoscopic surgical techniques by animal(pig) dissection. At the end of this cadaveric dissection course, it will be possible for the participants: To consolidate necessary skills for advanced open and laparoscopic surgery in the peritoneal cavity and retroperitoneal space To find the opportunity to learn the new technologies for surgery including open and laparoscopic techniques To learn of all procedures required to surgically stage and manage gynecological cancers To learn surgical procedures step by step with related clinically-oriented anatomy accompanied by anatomists and gynecologic oncologists To explore the critical anatomical landmarks in the more detailed manner Management of intraoperative complications To learn place of laparoscopic surgery in ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer This course includes specific and practical protocols required to safely complete the surgical staging and management of gynecological cancer: Target Audience The ideal profile of the course candidate is an gynaecological oncologist fellows Teaching Format The advanced course is a 2-day course in advanced Gynecological Cancer and Laparoscopic Approach, offering advanced theoretical sessions combined with practical training on live tissue (pigs). The course will be conducted entirely in English. Registration Registration is free of charge General Information The ideal profile of the course candidate is a gynaecological oncology fellow. Attendance to the course is limited to 20 participants. Applications will be treated on a first-come-first-served basis, and selected by TRSGO and MEMAGO jury.
