1 CITRUS Export MRLs update February 2017 I. The information contained in this document is provided as guidance as an aid to help ensure compliance with maximum residue limits (MRLs) in countries, as listed, to which citrus fruit are exported. II. No absolute guarantee can however be given that export MRLs will not be exceeded in all instances. It is therefore strongly recommended that this information be used in conjunction with residue monitoring to avoid violative residues. III. The MRLs listed in this document have been developed on the basis of currently available information obtained from domestic and international regulatory authorities and agrochemical companies. IV. Where MRL is indicated, residues should not be measurable unless a default or other commodities MRL exists or if Codex MRLs are recognised. V. Please note, that Citrus Ltd (CAL) cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information as MRL standards are subject to continual change and as inadvertent transcription errors may have occurred. VI. It is also strongly recommended that farmers maintain accurate and detailed records of all farm chemicals applied. Notes: 1. AUSTRALIA, CODEX,, USA and EU: In the absence of a set MRL, in effect a zero tolerance applies. 2. CANADA: MRLs as of February In the absence of a set MRL, a default MRL of 0.1 mg/kg applies. 3. MALAYSIA: In the absence of a set domestic MRL, Codex MRLs may apply, in the absence of a Codex MRL a maximum residue limit of 0.01 mg/kg applies. 4. SINGAPORE: In the absence of a nationally set MRL, default to the Codex level (MRLs as per S493/2013 wef 01/08/2013]) 5 TAIWAN: Pesticides not listed, except for those import tolerances developed, shall not be detected (MRLs as per 12 th December 2016 Food No ) 6. INDONESIA: As per Regulation No. 55/Permentan/KR.040/11/2016 -Food Safety Surveillance for Entry of Fresh Food of Plant Origin 7. NEW ZEALAND: Compliance with n Food Standards Code recognised by NZ due to Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement for n exports. 8. JAPAN: In the absence of a domestic MRL, the default level of 0.01 mg/kg applies. 9. EU: MRLs as at January MRLs indicated based upon unofficial translation of GB , as applied from 1 August, 2014 and WTO SPS Notifications 1051 and Care needs to be taken as translation of commodity names can be problematic. Also, with the various proposed MRL changes identified the timeframes for adoption are uncertain. Guidance should be sought from importers as to their status. 11. Thailand: In the absence of a national standard Codex MRLs may apply, based upon TAS MRLs as at December Korea: At present in the absence of a domestic MRL Codex MRLs currently may apply. Korea is moving to a positive list MRL system. For chemicals with no domestic registered use residue levels above 0.01 mg/kg will deemed a breach unless an import tolerance established. The new system will come into effect for Citrus fruits on January 1 st, Extent of potential MRL cancellations is currently unknown. 13. Hong Kong The Pesticide Residues in Food Regulation (Cap. 132CM) came into operation on 1 August # The registration status of the chemicals listed may vary for each commodity and in each State. Prior to using any chemical, consult the label and/or regulatory authority in your State. LEGEND FSANZ MRLs are used as the default n MRL unless otherwise indicated. Currently under review by APVMA * Signifies an the limit of quantification (LOQ) NB: Examples of trade names provided do not signify specific product endorsement.
