Glucose- glucose- glucose- glucose Your organs are made of muscle. Muscle is made of protein. Your blood pressure exists because of the water and salt balance in your body.

17 PasteurizaBon Process Pasteurization is often used to prevent the excessive spread of harmful microorganisms It is process where food is heated for a period of time at certain temperature to destroy the harmful microorganisms Without altering the taste or nutritional levels of the food certain levels and heat are established for individual foods such as Milk Cream Fruit juices Beer, wine, ciders

18 Purpose of pasteurizabon Pasteurization is used for 3 main reasons: To provide healthier foods To prolong shelf life of foods To preserve the nutritional priorities of foods Pasteurization alone cannot keep the food from expiring, therefore it must be refrigerated afterwards in order to slow the growth rate of any microorganisms left after pasteurization (ex: milk will spoil if left on the counter in room temperature)

19 Purpose of PasteurizaBon cont. Other methods exist to reduce the level of microorganisms in milk, however Pasteurization if the one most commonly used. Canadian Law requires milk to be treated to eliminate harmful microorganism, and has been enforced since 1926 in Quebec

20 Parameters to be controlled in cultured cells There are 7 parameters to be controlled individually for each medium (liquid or solid Water level (in liquids) Nutrient composition Mineral level Oxygen and carbon dioxide levels Temperature ph Amount of light (in the case of cell bacteria that require light grow)
