6 ACTIVITIES 2014 WORKSHOP Actions and inspection procedures on food safety for inspectors This series of workshops was a joint project with the Chilean Food Quality and Safety Agency (ACHIPIA). The topics were on actions and inspection procedures on food safety for inspectors of the following services: Health Regional Secretaries; Agricultural and Livestock Service, and National Fishing Service. This workshop was an update on food safety and GMP concepts for inspector and cross knowledge of different services in charge of inspection in order to avoid double work. This workshop was reproduced in five different cities of Chile. November 28, Santiago December 1, Antofagasta December 5, Quillota December 10, Talca December 12, Puerto Montt

9 EMERGING ISSUES LABELING Background: A new labeling Act was approved in 2012 This Act needs a regulation to be applied Two public consultation (2013, 2014) has been made at this respect Current situation: Practically, this is one of the most restrictive regulation in Latin America Many complaints from academy, industry and international organisms has been received As ILSI we participated in both public consultations given our scientific opinion.

11 TAKE 10! Project Advances Step 1: translation and adaptation of the original material into the Chilean language and curriculum; Step 2: pilot study has been implemented in a public school (Escuela Luis Matte Larrain) in Puente Alto, Santiago. In this pilot study 3 first grades participated. The pilot period covered was September to November 2014 (100 school hours). The anthropometrical measurements, behavioral changes, strength, blood pressure along with teachers perception and comments will be presented in a report at the beginning 2015.

(10 min PA) Twice a day/5 days a week Municipality Schools School Managers 2nd Phase OCTOBER Physical Ed. Teacher guides half of the physical activities, and the other half is done by the Primary School teacher. Twice a day/5 days a week Receptor 3rd Phase NOVEMBER The Primary School teacher acts as monitor and the Physical Ed. Teacher supervises. Twice a day/5 days a week 4th Phase DECEMBER Evaluation. School teacher gets certification.
