1 Sarah Michelle Totten Curriculum Vitae Stanford University School of Medicine 3155 Porter Drive, MC5483 Palo Alto, CA Office: Cell: EDUCATION University of California, Davis Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry, March University of California, Riverside Bachelor of Science, Chemistry, March Riverside, CA RESEARCH EXPERIENCE Postdoctoral Researcher (Current Position) Canary Center for Cancer Early Detection Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Radiology March 2014 Present Advisor: Assistant Professor Sharon J. Pitteri Palo Alto, CA Currently developing chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry analytical techniques for the glycoproteomic analysis and site-specific glycoform mapping of blood and tissue-derived human glycoproteins. These methods will be incorporated into a proteomic workflow for the identification, quantitation, and validation of biomarkers for early detection of cancers, with a focus on prostate and pancreatic cancers. Graduate Student Researcher University of California, Davis, Department of Chemistry September 2009 March 2014 Advisor: Professor Carlito B. Lebrilla Thesis: Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Human Milk Oligosaccharides: Correlating Glycan Expression to Mother and Infant Health Developed high-throughput analytical methods for profiling free glycans native in human milk and infant feces using LC-MS/MS for large data sets. These methods were used to determine variation in glycan type and abundance with respect to maternal disease state and the anthropometry, morbidity, and gut microbiota of the infant. Totten Page 1
