2 WELCOME FROM THE ORGANISERS 10th November 2014 Dear Delegate, We are delighted you have chosen to attend the inaugural UCLp Postgraduate Nutrition Course. This course is aimed at trainees, new consultants and allied health professionals and offers a systematic three-day course in the day-to-day practice and evidence base of current clinical nutrition. It is based on the nutrition curriculum of the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) and the Life Long Learning (LLL) programme in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism developed by ESPEN. The course aims to be highly interactive including scenario based teaching sessions, practical workshops and discussions. We are very grateful to both the BSG and BAPEN Medical for fully endorsing this course and also to our international faculty of experts in Nutrition. We thank you in advance for your feedback for the three-day course, which is essential for its future improvement and development. 3 COURSE INFORMATION The aim of the course is to provide a strong foundation of knowledge in Nutrition from which future gastroenterologists and allied healthcare professionals may build and develop a specialist interest. The three - day course has the following objectives: Provide comprehensive and evidence - based clinical information on the assessment and management of patients who require nutritional support from patients with intestinal failure to those requiring bariatric surgery. In addition, delegates will gain a basic understanding of key metabolic pathways and their relevance to clinical nutrition. Address all major areas within the Royal College of Physicians training board (JRCPTB) curriculum in nutrition with learning outcomes directly transferable to the JRCPTB e-portfolio. Provide an engaging interactive learning experience in clinical nutrition and assessment through clinical scenarios, workshops and interactive key pad discussions.
