1 CPT 6 Stainless Steel Primary Hip System Surgical Technique The proven, simple solution

2 1Osteotomy of the Femoral Neck Superimpose the Osteotomy Guide on the proximal femur. Position the guide over the center of rotation of the femoral head. Mark the location of the neck cut. Remove the guide and make the cut. 2Open the Medullary Canal Use the Starter Awl to open the canal in line with the femoral axis. Insert the Charnley Awl to confirm alignment and remove medial trochanteric bone. 3Open Lateral Canal Use the Box Osteotome to cut laterally into the lateral femoral neck and medial trochanteric bone. 4Rasp the Femoral Canal Pass the smallest femoral rasp down the intramedullary canal, and use sequentially larger rasps until templated size is reached. Note: Size selection should avoid oversizing and allow for an adequate bed of cancellous bone.

3 5Trial Reduction and Range of Motion Assemble cone provisional and trial head. Perform trial reduction. 6Cement Preparation Plug the distal canal. Inject bone cement and pressurize using femoral pressurizer seal and pressurizer plate. 7Insert Femoral Component Attach centralizer and assemble femoral component onto stem inserter. Insert femoral component to align etch mark at osteotomy level. Remove stem inserter as soon as stem is seated. Place cement restrictor seal and plate around stem and press against osteotomy cut to restrict cement during polymerization. 8Reduce Hip Once cement has fully polymerized, remove seal and plate, impact femoral head, and reduce hip. Note: The thumb should be placed over the medial femoral neck to maintain cement pressure during stem insertion.
