7 ER-WCPT The voice of physiotherapy to the European and EU authorities Established 1998 An organisation of professional associations from 39 countries that must be members of the WCPT Representing 172,000 PTs Non-profit, non-governmental, independent organisation funded by Member Organisations (MOs) subscription fees Office and secretariat in Brussels 7

8 ER-WCPT is 1. An Observatory Monitor and follow developments and trends at EU and national level Analyse and respond to them, always being proactive. Inform all possible interested parties of developments for possible collaboration or alliances 2. A Network of resources Share actions, know how, knowledge and tools. Benefit from good experience or best practice from colleagues or MOs. 3. The Voice of the profession at National and EU level Recognised and valued by the EU and National stakeholders

17 EU Matters WG Maintain a high profile of EU matters within ER-WCPT Review EU Directives relevant to physiotherapists Examine all issues in relation to free migration under the General Directives of the EU and recommend action Clarify procedures and requirements of migration Examine EU initiatives on Health Policy and implications for physiotherapy practice and make recommendations Consider the implications of enlargement in the EU Maintain liaison with EU authorities Advise Executive Committee on relevant EU publications

Promote reciprocity of recognition of physiotherapy qualifications 4. Promote education as an important tool to promote free movement and the right of establishment of physiotherapists in Europe
