INSPIRING OTHERS is the heart and soul of LEADERSHIP HOW DO YOU DO IT? WITH PASSION Heartfelt energy that flows through, not from us INSPIRES OTHERS when we share it Leading with Passion Lead with Purpose Lead with Vision Lead with Heart Lead with Attention Lead with Integrity 10 Essentials Lead with Discipline Lead with Generosity Lead with Credibility Lead with Grace Lead with Spirit Leading with Passion 4
PASSION requires PURPOSE PURPOSE = MEANING and CONTEXT Drives the form, the details and the execution Begins with INTENTION the WHY? Shared purpose = shared passion Purpose comes mostly from the heart, not just from the mind Leading with PURPOSE PASSION requires VISION Purpose is WHY, Vision is WHAT VISION = CLARITY and DIRECTION The vision must be understood by all and it must be compelling From vision comes focus upon goals Goals create something to accomplish Leading with VISION PASSION requires HEART HEART = The FUEL to pursue Purpose and Vision Gives us courage to take risks, to go first, and perhaps fail Gives us compassion the foundation of genuine relationships, trust, conviction Fosters commitment and loyalty Leading with HEART 5
PASSION requires ATTENTION ATTENTION = Focus on the NOW Where Purpose, Vision, and Heart come together The devil is in the details Finger is on the pulse of the current state of affairs and on people/relationships Leading with ATTENTION PASSION requires INTEGRITY INTEGRITY = Authenticity A core virtue that removes ego and replaces it with a fervent stewardship of the greater good Provides a powerful compass by which to lead Builds trust, which leads to highly effective teams Leading with INTEGRITY PASSION requires DISCIPLINE DISCIPLINE = Doing whatever it takes Means walking your talk with responsibility and accountability Requires initiative, action and follow-through Dependability, going the extra mile Goal setting and getting are the tools of Discipline Helps maintain balance between tasks, activities, and relationships Leading with DISCIPLINE 6
PASSION requires GENEROSITY GENEROSITIY = Giving abundantly in all things Generosity generates Knows that giving means receiving Leads to cooperative, win/win efforts Leading with GENEROSITY PASSION requires CREDIBILITY CREDIBILITY = Belief in you Comes from practicing what you preach Also comes from abiding belief in self Breeds commitment, which cultivates passion Supports Purpose and Vision, opens Hearts and minds Leading with CREDIBILITY PASSION requires GRACE GRACE = True connectedness Comes from being humble and grateful, and from appreciation, dignity, and respect Is an energy more than a character trait Provides a calm strength in leadership Leading with GRACE 7
PASSION requires SPIRIT SPIRIT = Positive Energy Leads to conscious actions, not subconscious reactions or responses Engenders hope, faith, optimism, and creativity Knows that there is no problem without a solution Leading with SPIRIT 8
