Where did the term Iron Curtain come from? What did it mean? 6. How long had Americans feared Communism? 7. What did George F. Kennan s ideas lead to? Define what it means. 8. Describe the Truman Doctrine; what was its purpose? 9. Describe the Marshall Plan; what did it do? 10. How was it supposed to stop communist expansion? 11. Summarize the Berlin Crisis and all that happened during it. 12. How was the Crisis solved? What did the Crisis confirm?
2 13. What was the final result of it? 14. How is a Cold War different from a regular war? 15. What 2 organizations came about during it? Who belonged to each one? 16. What nations sought independence during the Cold War? 17. What happened in China? How did the US feel about this? Activity: When finished with these questions; get a blank Berlin map from the teacher. Color-code the map according to the listed boxes. Color the corresponding tabs that make up the city of Berlin. Once finished, glue the top tabs of the 4-part city of Berlin over the area of Berlin on your map. Then glue the top tabs of the 2-part city of Berlin over the 4-part. Use the map on page 793 as a guide. Place your finished map in your History binder. (3 points)
