1 Faculty of Health, Arts and Design Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) / Bachel of Psychologcal Sciences (from 2017) OUA Teach Out and Transition Infmation Imptant Infmation about Changes to Your Course The Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) changed to the Bachel of Psychological Sciences from Study Period 1, Changes were made to the design and delivery of units of study to ensure that we maintain the quality and relevance of our courses in line with the changing demands of industry and global trends. These changes came into effect from the start of HOW DO THE CHANGES AFFECT ME? If you are a current student admitted into the Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) you need to review this Teach out and Transition plan carefully to ensure you complete the units scheduled f teach out in a timely manner. Students who wish to undertake the Bachel of Psychological Studies must apply f the new course. Please contact OUA f further infmation. NOTE: If you have not complete STA20007 in 2017, you are required to move to the new Course (Bachel of Psychological Studies) due to APAC requirements as there is no replacement unit. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I change to the new course? Current students enrolled in the existing Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) may have the opptunity to transfer to the new course. This will nmally depend on the number of units completed and how they transfer to the new course. Table 2 below illustrates how each unit translates between the different course options. Can I continue in my existing course? Students currently admitted into the Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) can continue their current course of study. there will, however, not be any new admissions in to the Course. While the course rules remain the same it s imptant to note some replacement units may apply. Again refer to Table 2 to see how each unit translates between the different course options. When planning your re enrolment, please also note the final time some units will be offered. Please note: Each row relates to the same, the equivalent/replacement, unit. You can easily see how a unit ( its equivalent/replacement) sits within each course option to 2014 Course Rules 2017/ 2018 Course Rules F students who wish to remain in the 2011 to 2016 course structure f Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) To qualify f a Bachel of Behavioural Studies (Psychology) a student must complete 300 credit points (usually 24 x 12.5 cp units) comprising: 16 ce units PLUS 8 units of approved study comprising: co maj, and/ mins, and/ electives F students who choose to transition to the new degree, and f students newly admitted into their degree from 2017 To qualify f the Bachel of Psychological Sciences students must complete 300 credit points comprising of: 5 ce units (62.5 credit points) 8 Psychology Maj units (100 credit points) PLUS Secondary studies (137.5 credit points) comprising an approved co maj (8 units); AND/ 1 to 2 min/s, and/ single unit electives. Regardless of any credit awarded within this degree, students must complete a minimum of 8 units of study with Swinburne University as part of this degree. Students wishing to undertake Bachel of Psychological Sciences must register with the University after successfully completing the three introducty OUA units (PSY10003 Psychology 100, STA10003 Foundations of Statistics, PSY10004 Psychology 101). This is because of the specialist nature of the Psychology profession and the strict pre requisite accreditation requirements of the Australian Psychological Society
