THERE IS A BIG GAP BETWEEN WHAT WE SAY WE WANT AND WHAT WE ACTUALLY WANT. LEARNING HOW TO CLOSE THAT GAP, IS WHAT BRINGS CHOICE AND CREATES A FUNCTIONAL & AWESOME HUMAN. Matt Lavars
META DYNAMICS FOUR ARCHETYPES When you re coaching, the attitude you must have is to gauge where your client is at any point. Coaching is not just about putting together a plan, or simply getting the right goals in place for a client; it s about genuinely tapping into their perceptions, desires, and dreams. The Four Archetypes can help you and your client create lasting change and transformation in their life. The Archetypes were developed from the Meta Dynamics methodology based on decades of research and experience in the coaching industry. ARCHETYPE #1 VISONARY (Leader & Proactive) ARCHETYPE #2 ARCHITECT (Action Taker & Proactive) ARCHETYPE #3 DYNAMO (Planner & Reactive) ARCHETYPE #4 COLLABORATOR (Networker & Reactive)
#1 VISIONARY This describes an individual s continued preference to see, defend and advocate for the cultural standards and be a source of inspiration to others. They have the ability to bring people towards the vision and are comfortable with ambiguity and this is consistently shown in their behaviour, actions, and decisions. They exude a sense of certainty in their own judgement and are unwavering to their commitment in the vision. They bring with them a sense of curiosity to explore what is possible, enjoys the bigger picture, and demonstrates divergent thinking. They have a Personal Strengths (of a leader) for the purpose of achieving their shared vision. They demonstrate a continued preference to push through obstacles and to adapt to any changing environment. A key distinction for individuals on this dimension is their capacity to take obstacles as challenges with a personal sense of responsibility. ANTHENTIC SELF Know purpose Able to handle life and inspire others Self-love SHADOW SELF Think it s all life and death Easily distracted Make excuses
#2 ARCHITECT Individuals who are high on Structure demonstrate the attributes to create systems and processes that are in place or needs to be in place in order to allow for a successful environment. They have a quick witted ability to determine relationships between ideas and a tendency to engage in analysing information for problem solving. As an Architect, they demonstrate strengths in contingency planning. They will create sustainable structures through the anticipation of potential challenges and make decisions based on consequential and critical thinking so as to not result in those they lead having to engage in last minute fixing. At times, strong Architect individuals may appear stubborn and sceptical to change and must learn to accept other methods and/or processes from others that could yield a better outcome. ANTHENTIC SELF Seek and apply the strategies that work Can be relied on when needed Calm and able to think through consequences SHADOW SELF Don t know where to focus Don t know the strategies that work Too easily confused and overwhelmed
#3 DYNAMO The individual is autonomous in functioning independently without reliance on others. Strong Dynamos are identified by their determination to achieve their goals and outcomes that they set for themselves and others. They succeed by perseverance, originality and a desire to do whatever is needed or wanted by the group in which they represent. Great Dynamos think on the spot when presented with a challenge and are quick in identifying and organising the resources needed to achieve an outcome. They tend to respond to praise and criticism more so than others and are driven by the expectations of their group. ANTHENTIC SELF Learn from your mistakes Act decisively Take Responsibility SHADOW SELF Do what s comfortable Procrastinate Change your mind often
#4 COLLABORATOR The Collaborator has strong preference and innate ability to connect with others and a strong commitment in wanting to guide those around them. They are responsive and responsible as team players and generally free real concern for what others think or want. The common strategy taken as a Collaborator is by handling problems and challenges with consideration for the other person s perspective. In doing so, they create a level of trust with others in their capacity to identify strengths and stretches in others and leading them in the direction of shared vision. Having a fundamental need for human interaction, their ability to empathise with others is put to good use. However so, they will not easily make decision which work against this. ANTHENTIC SELF Work with others to achieve dreams Knows how and who to trust Easy trustworthy SHADOW SELF Talk about dreams Take everything personally Easily judges and searches for fault in others There is so much more to Four Archetypes and the Meta Dynamics methodology, the only proven and research-based coaching methodology founded by Sharon Pearson.
