A. Roe took over as PI of this project upon hire on March 21, PI of Project: $44,597 was awarded to Paul McCawley from Utah State University for the project, Multi-Disciplinary Methods for Effective, Sustainable, and Scalable Evaluations of Nutrition Education Programs on 10/01/2015 to end 08/31/2016. A. Roe took over as the PI for this project upon hire on March 21, Due to budget cuts from the parent funding agency, this project was not started as planned and the scope of work and award were revised on 09/01/2016 to end 08/31/2017, in a new amount of $21, Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in Food and Nutrition, University of Idaho. Conduct research related to child feeding behaviors, supported by grants from the Idaho Wheat Commission and the American Pulse Association and the USA Pea and Lentil Council Graduate Student, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, Neuroscience and Aging Laboratory. Explore the relationships between dietary factors and cognitive function, conducted a research study to better understand the role of choline in cognitive function and cerebrovascular health of older adults. Applied for grants through the Egg Nutrition Center and Balchem, Inc Graduate Student Laboratory Practicum, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, Neuroscience and Aging Laboratory. Assisted in laboratory research to determine whether folate deficient diet affects the function and/or integrity of the perirhinal cortex and entorhinal cortex and abeta plaque size and accumulation in the cortex; assisted in animal behavior testing (Novel Object Recognition test); used immunohistochemistry to stain plaques and fluorescent microscopy for quantification. Funded by a grant from the Alzheimer s Association Graduate Student Laboratory Directed Study, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, Carotenoids and Health Laboratory. Assisted in laboratory research to determine the difference in carotenoid concentration and lipid peroxidation in human brains with and without Alzheimer s disease; used high performance liquid chromatography to quantify carotenoids and malondialdyhyde Research Assistant (Graduate Student), University of Montana. Conduct research with wildland firefighters, prepare equipment for the field, collect, analyze, and report data on the effects of carbohydrate supplementation on the cognitive function of wildland firefighters during arduous fire suppression. Funded in part by the US Forest Service and US Army Laboratory Tech, Montana State University. Analyze blood samples from Montana State University; perform ELISA assays to look for various blood components.
