1 EVALUATION PLATFORM ON OBESITY PREVENTION (EPOP) A short presentation Québec, June 2013
2 The starting point (1) There are, in the province of Quebec, numerous interventions aiming to promote healthy lifestyles in order to prevent obesity, involving a great number of actors and organisations, and consuming a large amount of resources. 2
3 The starting point (2) The majority of evaluations which have been or are currently performed focus on the implementation of these interventions. 3
4 The starting point (3) With rare exception, the individual and population impact of these interventions is unknown and there is a real need to increase the number and to improve the quality of scientific studies aiming to assess their effects. 4

7 Mission Mission and Objectives To develop expertise, conduct evaluations and promote a culture of impact assessment in the field of obesity prevention among young Quebecers* Objectives Develop and maintain a strategic framework and tools for impact assessment in the field of obesity prevention among young Quebecers taking into account the perspectives of key players in the Quebec Experience** and international perspectives Take a critical look at the Quebec Experience in terms of obesity prevention for young Quebecers in support of decisions made by government authorities and stakeholders Conduct evaluations on the impact of interventions, programs and policies related to obesity prevention among young Quebecers Support in-the-field evaluation by helping key players in the Quebec Experience who want to conduct impact assessments Promote networking and information exchange with stakeholders in the Quebec Experience, academia and national and international organizations relevant to the best practices in impact assessment in the field of youth obesity prevention 7
