1 Janne Boone-Heinonen, PhD, MPH, FTOS (503) ACADEMIC APPOINTMENT 2011-present Assistant Professor, Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Oregon Health & Science University; Portland, OR EDUCATION Postdoctoral Fellow (June 2009-Feb 2011) Interdisciplinary Obesity Training Postdoctoral Fellowship (NIH T32) University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC Mentor: Dr. Barry M. Popkin PhD in Nutrition (Nutrition Epidemiology), 2009 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC Mentor: Dr. Penny Gordon-Larsen Dissertation: Do active communities support activity, or support active people? Residential self-selection bias in the estimation of built environment influences on physical activity M.P.H. in Biostatistics and Epidemiology, 2003 Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR Mentor: Dr. Jodi Lapidus B.S. in Biology, cum laude, 1997 Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA RESEARCH INTERESTS Janne Boone-Heinonen s research investigates individual and environmental determinants of diet, physical activity, and obesity, with particular interest in life course and neighborhood health research. Her current research investigates dynamic, multi-level impacts on maternal behavior and early life outcomes that contribute to life course obesity. She uses interdisciplinary cross-sectional and longitudinal statistical methods applied to population-based cohort studies to address methodological challenges in obesity epidemiology.
