9 CRAN: Research Training Opportunities Solicit guidance from members of Council and Training Directors: Are current training programs integrated/ comprehensive for multiple substances? Are there redundancies? Are there training gaps/needs? How should we go about addressing these issues?

10 Ongoing Collaborations between the NIAAA and NIDA Intramural Research Programs An integrated NIAAA/NIDA addictions clinical research program, under the leadership of a single Clinical Director (Dr. Markus Heilig) Collaborative Genetic/Genomics clinical studies Optogenetics and Transgenic Technology Core (OTTC) Joint training and career development opportunities (e.g., NIDA/NIAAA/Johns Hopkins substance abuse clinical fellowship) Molecular Targets Discussions (3 X/ year)

11 Ultimately, CRAN will: foster more effective communication between Institute staff, and improve collaboration and knowledge exchange among diverse scientific communities through both formal and informal collaborations.
