Diets Why Don t Work by Adele, Get Gorgeous Owner Wish I d done it 10 years ago I just want to say a big yippee & thank you to Adele. I am not going through GG as she planned, I am still on module 4 up to & including & the pounds are slipping away...5 gone now! I feel comfortable in my clothes, have sustained energy, cheat a bit & don t feel too bad because my tastes have really changed. I just don t get so hooked into carby temptations anymore...it IS FAB! Wish I d done it 10 years ago!!! THANK YOU ADELE - although I still curse you as I do some of the exercises can you hear me?! Jenny Morris Get Gorgeous Member Whats inside: What can you do to be healthy & feel great without starving yourself & suffering from lack of energy.
The Top Diet s & why they don t work. Which is the best diet for you? The diet world is changing dramatically, some public nutritionists like Trudi Deacon suggest that the diet world is moving through a revolution. Popular TV Dr Michael Mosley is convinced low fat diet is causing serious health and obesity problems. So where do you turn? Working with people everyday, I see women who want a normal life and become healthy and lose weight. I help them to incorporate small habit changes that will help sustain a happy and healthy way of life. Diets don t work because you can t cut calories and expect your beautiful body to burn fat. Your body will simply shut down and onlygive you the energy to do the minimum amount of activity - like breathing! What happens to working or preparing every-one else s dinner? You can t afford to be exhausted and carry on with your to do list and of course appear smiling, calm and in control at all times Which reduced calorie, starving yourself, exercise like a lunatic diet is going to be the one that works for you? NONE OF THEM! (In my opinion) Adele, Get Gorgeous Owner 2016 is going to be a great and successful year for me and my family Get Gorgeous has helped me boost my will power. It is a fresh new idea that has made me think again about how I eat and exercise. There were a few things in the course I knew already but didn t want to face up to, such as the amount of sugar and additives in my food that I was ignoring, but now I feel renewed and empowered by Adele s words to change mine and my family s life for the better. I am now exercising more, sleeping more and no longer suffer from sugar cravings is going to be a great and successful year for me and my family. Andie Habeshaw Journalist and mummy of two Get Gorgeous Member
The Slimming World Diet Swap high-fat foods for low-fat foods that are naturally filling Choose low-fat Free Foods - fruit, vegetables, pasta, potatoes, rice, lean meat, fish and eggs. Weekly group meetings. Follow an exercise plan to become gradually more active. The plan is designed to help you lose about 1-2lb a week. No foods are banned. No calorie counting. Allowed occasional treats. Family-friendly. Body Magic booklet gives ideas to help you raise your activity levels. Meeting as a group can provide valuable support. Slimming World doesn t educate you about nutrition. Without learning about calories and portion sizes, you may struggle to keep the weight off in the long term when you come off the programme. Group meetings may not appeal to everyone. Meal plans lack flexibility. Struggle to make healthy choices once you ve left the programme.
The Slim-Fast Diet Low-calorie meal replacement plan if BMI 25 and over. 2 meal replacement shakes or bars, and one regular meal from Slim-Fast website. 3 snacks a day including crisps and chocolate. Lose 1-2lb a week. Follow the diet for as long as you want. Meal replacement. Convenient. No guesswork in portion control and calorie counting. No foods are forbidden. Meal replacement diets do little to educate you about eating habits. There is no long term behaviour change. Risk of putting the weight back on afterwards. Hard to get your 5 A DAY of fruit and veg. Meal replacements are unhealthy.
The Cambridge Diet Eating a range of meal-replacement products. Bars, soups, porridges and shakes can be used as your sole source of nutrition or together with low-calorie regular meals. Support from a Cambridge adviser. Meal replacements nutritionally balanced getting all the vitamins and minerals but not from real food. Cutting out carbs causes bad breath, a dry mouth, tiredness, dizziness, insomnia, nausea. Constipation from cutting down on fibre. Hard to stick to. Stand out from family by giving up normal meals Isolating Swapping food for a snack bar or a shake can be boring and lack real nutrition. Not long term.
The 5:2 Diet - the most popular in recent years Based on intermittent fasting (IF) Eat normally for five days a week and fast on the other two days. 5:2 is a simple way to reduce calorie intake. More likely to stick to two days a week than seven days. Two days a week on a restricted diet can lead to greater reductions in body fat, insulin resistance and other chronic diseases. Claims can improve lifespan and brain function, and protect against conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer s. 5:2 model may help lower the risk of certain obesity-related cancers, such as breast cancer. Unlimited feasting on non diet days. Still need to make healthy choices and be physically active. Skipping meals make you feel dizzy, irritable, give you headaches and make it hard to concentrate, which can affect work and other daily tasks. Other reported side effects are difficulties sleeping and daytime sleepiness, bad breath and dehydration. Be careful to avoid nutritional deficiencies, dehydration and over eating on non-fast days. Boring, repetitive.
The Paleo Diet - (The Caveman Diet) Foods that can be hunted and fished or gathered such as eggs, nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. Eating habits of our hunter-gatherer ancestors during the Paleolithic era before the development of agriculture around 10,000 years ago. Cereal grains including wheat, dairy, refined sugar, potatoes and salt as well. Encourages eating less processed food and more fruit and vegetables. Reducing your consumption of high-calorie foods will reduce your calorie intake and help you lose weight. The diet is simple and doesn t involve calorie counting. Flexible: 80/20 rule, where you ll get 99% of the benefits of the Paleo diet if you adhere to it 80% of the time. Long-term healthy eating plan. Reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and other health problems. There are no accurate records of the diet of our Stone Age ancestors, so the paleo diet is largely based on an educated guess. Health claims lack scientific evidence. Encourage large amounts of meat, which runs counter current dietary thinking. Many versions ban dairy products and wholegrains, which form part of a healthy, balanced diet. Expensive. Not one for vegetarians! Nutritional deficiencies because excludes key food groups. Lacks variety. Might be better to mimic your ancestors activity levels, rather than their alleged diet! eating on non fast days.
The Sirtuin Diet The current Amazon bestseller is based on wonder foods that will turbo-charge your weight loss. Daily Mail states you can lose 7lbs in 7 days. Switch on your body s fat-burning powers - your ancient sirtuins genes. These genes are metabolic regulators control our ability to burn fat. Fasting and mild exercise activate our sirtuin genes but that is too difficult so all you have to do is eat Sirt foods and of course buy the book. Fasting and juicing for 7 days and maintenance for 7 days Dramatic and rapid results losing average 7lbs in 7 days. Claim muscle mass maintained or increased. Participants rarely feel hungry. 7 day menu plan and recipes. Free from rigorous exercise regimes but say moderate exercise has multitude of benefits but not for weight-loss. Includes red wine and chocolate! Written by self proclaimed pioneers of the modern day medicine movement. 1,000 calorie limit Fasting and juicing. 2 juices and two meals a day I d be STARVING. Increase calories on the final four days to 1,500 per day. Human cells in a scientific culture dish probably react very differently to the cells in a living person. Diet statements changes from natural satiating to later on claiming not unduly hungry FASTING - Still awaiting proof of increased lifespan for humans but has disadvantages of hunger, irritability, fatigue and fasting always has an affect on muscle loss and possible malnutrition. Sirtfoods Extra virgin olive oil, red onions, parsley, chili, kale, berries - strawberries, dates, wild leafy greens, nuts -walnuts, capers, soy products - tofu, dark chocolate - cocoa, herbs turmeric, parsley, green tea, coffee and red wine - activate sirtuins and switch on skinny gene. Endorsements the bible, study of 40 people, Lorraine Pascal, David Haye, Jodie Kidd, Sir Ben Ainslie. Research is based on countries where high amount of Sirtfoods in their diet Kuna.
Get Gorgeous Weight Loss New one to you? Well I had to get a little plug in somewhere after all this hard work reviewing and looking in depth at all the diets on the market. Get Gorgeous isn t a diet. It is a lifestyle change. It has 12 simple steps which change your habits and last your lifetime. The Get Gorgeous programme is a proven, well researched, easy to understand system that is delivered to you each week for 12 weeks. No gimmicks just 18 years experience. Achieves long term healthy goals and guaranteed weight loss based on education and exercise NO DIETS. Get Gorgeous programme uses exercise, education and soul support from me and others on the same road to weight loss enlightenment. There are none! Diets need to work with you and find out first of all what makes you tick, what makes you reach for the Mars bar rather than the carrot: Is it about the availability of the carrot? lack of time in preparing the carrot? simply craving the sugar rush? maybe like me you feel you jolly well deserve an entire Thornton s box because you have worked so hard? or do you just get plain fed up? Find the reason, unlock the key, take action, don t diet. At Get Gorgeous once we have worked to find your food motivations, and done a wee bit ofmeasuring, prodding and pinching to find out when we are now we can accept, love and move forward. Move on to a healthier you, using sustainable habits and a clear nutritional pathway. So crash diets aren t sustainable but healthy eating and losing weight slowly is. That is where my Get Gorgeous programme comes in.
What we can learn from diets? Let s discuss what we can learn from diets, what can they help us mere mortals with? They raise nutrition awareness. Generally when you are on diet, you start paying better attention to what you eat. Eating nutritional food is the key to losing fat and improving your health. Whether your attention is trained on avoiding carbs, eating more vegetables, looking out for organic/free-range food, avoiding animal foods, or avoiding non Paleo food, it s all good. When you are on a diet you start to care more about what you re eating in the first place. Diets focus on the quality of your food. Most diets want you to eat more natural, free-range animal-based foods that are higher in protein, higher in fat, and are minimally processed. Vegan and high carb diets want you to eat more natural, plant-based foods that are higher in fibre, antioxidants, and are minimally processed. Diets avoid junk food. Of course there aren t many diets out there that recommend that you eat more processed, chemical-laden junk food! Most diets want you to eat minimally processed nutrient-rich foods and that is the key to a healthy lifestyle. They help eliminate nutrient deficiencies. Highly processed foods are often low in nutrients because they ve been stripped out during processing. When you eat whole foods foods which aren t processed, their nutrients are still intact. So you are getting more for your buck! Sorry awful expression there, but you know what I mean. When you eat a biscuit (sorry girls it is processed) you will be hungry in 10mins you will not feel satiated. However if you were to eat wholemeal toast with peanut butter on it, you are going to feel fuller for longer. Heard that expression before! If you are looking to improve your health begin by eliminating most of the common nutrient deficiencies such as: water, vitamins and minerals, proteins, and essential fatty acids. Diets help control appetite and food intake. When you re more aware of what you re eating, you choose more satisfying, higher quality foods, you almost always end up eating less food. You will feel more satisfied. I don t mean calorie counting here. Just making different choices about your food will enable you to reach your weight loss goals almost by accident.
Diets promote regular exercise. Exercising regularly, whatever that means to you from walking with the dogs or kids to school, it is your key. Start by recording what activity levels you do at the moment, and begin to build it up slowly. Make exercise your habit. When you combine with a mix of high and low intensity activity, you dramatically improve you ability to turn the food you eat into muscle instead of fat. So when the diet principles are understood we can use them to move forward to make life changing dietary habits instead of going on a diet. Simples! What do you think, have you had some wee gem of information that you have taken from a diet and use now. Maybe you couldn t look at an avocado or cheese for years, but eat jacket potatoes till they fall off the trees? Once you raise your nutritional food awareness you can eat healthy and lose weight. Diets do have some healthy advantages, now you understand what those advantages are you can incorporate them into your lifestyle. Adele x Adele, Get Gorgeous Owner
