1 Communiqué Mary Frances Trust s Newsletter January 2018 IN THE SPOTLIGHT HAPPY NEW YEAR Welcome to the first edition of Mary Frances Trust s Newsletter of Many of you know that we have been working on a new look for Communique the past few months and we are not yet done. Over the next few months you will see the Newsletter evolving and hopefully include more of what you want to read and see. We are speaking with our readers through the Mary Frances Trust Advisory Group but are keen to hear more views so if you have any comments, feedback or suggestions please Suki, our Fundraising and Communications officer on suki@maryfrancestrust.org.uk. The course is open to people who need support with emotional wellbeing. This free course will be held on Mondays. 4 WHAT S ON IN EPSOM & EWELL BADMINTON CLASSES Did you know that participating in sport has a positive effect on your emotional well-being? 5 INTRODUCTION TO PILATES This course has been designed for people who are new or in the beginning stages of Pilates. You will learn Pilates Fundamentals and exercises, from the simplest to more complex. Pilates is also calming and known as "movement as meditation." The course consists of 6 sessions, at a cost of 3 per session Location: The Brickfield Centre Portland Place Epsom KT17 1DL Starting on Monday 15th January 2018 Time: 1pm 2pm All attendees must register with Mary Frances Trust before starting the course. 6 Surrey Safe Haven s WHAT ARE SAFE HAVENS Safe Havens provide out of hours help and support to people and their carers who are experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress. There are five Safe Havens open in town centre locations across Surrey and North East Hampshire to residents of any district or borough within this area. So, for example, if you live in Epsom you could go to the Guildford Safe Haven. They are open evenings, weekends and bank holidays and are designed to give adults a safe alternative to A&E when in crisis (please see individual services below for opening times). Each Safe Haven is staffed by a mental health practitioner from Surrey and Borders Partnership and two trained Safe Haven workers. Peer support from people with lived experience of mental health issues is also increasingly available. The Safe Havens are provided by a partnership between Surrey & Borders NHS Trust and third sector mental health specialists.
