3 Mission: To assure the safety and well-being of the public and to advance the professional practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine by establishing and promoting national evidence-based standards of competence and credentialing. Vision: Acupuncture and Oriental medicine provided by NCCAOM credentialed practitioners will be integral to healthcare and accessible to all members of the public.

4 Goal I: Goal II: Goal III: Integrate NCCAOM credentialed providers into healthcare in the United States. Distinguish NCCAOM as the expert source for AOM credentialing and competency standards. Expand the value of NCCAOM credentials to assure and advance professional opportunities for NCCAOM Diplomates.

5 Spearhead application to the BLS to move Acupuncturists from sub-code under Health Diagnosing and Treating Practitioners, All Other to an independent occupational code. Completed in 2016 Develop and nurture relationships at the federal and national healthcare institutions to promote certified/licensed acupuncturists Provide verification of certification and passage of NCCAOM examinations to regulatory bodies, employer, and insurance providers Provide demographic and clinical practice information on AOM practitioners to national organizations/agencies and insurance providers

Create Press Releases to Promote AOM and NCCAOM Certified Practitioners Provide testimony and letters to states regarding NCCAOM Standards Promote NCCAOM

12 Kansas First Practice Act enacted in 2016 NCCAOM working with KsAOM to finalize rules and regulations process with Board of Healing Arts Counsel. NCCAOM approved funds to assist KsAOM with this process. Wyoming First Practice Act Enacted March 2017 Bill to create a first practice act passed both Houses; and as of 3/14/17 Governor s signature. NCCAOM provided funds to help with this process. NCCAOM will also work on rules and regulations process afterwards AL, SD, OK No recent developments for a first practice act.
