3 Musculoskeletal Imaging
4 Robust Musculoskeletal Imaging Musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging is a rapidly expanding imaging segment with projected growth due to escalating obesity and aging patient population in the US. MSK injuries and conditions can lead to disability and chronic disease states in patients, making confident and early diagnosis beneficial to long term health and health care cost reduction. MSK imaging ranges from very small field of view for areas including fingers and toes to larger areas such as hips and spines. The diversity of imaging requirements makes consistent image quality both a challenge and a fundamental requirement for all imaging departments. MRI, a critical diagnostic tool for evaluating the complex MSK anatomies and pathologies, provides high signal to noise (SNR), high spatial resolution, and unmatched contrast differentiation. Advanced imaging capabilities have a proven impact to positive clinical outcomes, establishing MRI as a viable alternative to arthroscopic diagnostic procedures, and has enabled positive modification of the treatment plan for patients with early stages of arthritis. To support the diverse demands of MSK imaging, service providers are looking for comprehensive MRI capabilities that include: A versatile imaging suite for high quality imaging including thin slice, small field of view imaging with high SNR and CNR Isotropic imaging capability for reconstructing data sets into any plane to visualize challenging intricate anatomical structures Comprehensive cartilage assessment using unique imaging acquisitions and sophisticated analysis capabilities Uniform fat suppression for all anatomy and all FOV s to visualize intricate MSK structures obstructed by signal from bone Dedicated anatomically specific coil technology to provide high uniformity, anatomical coverage and SNR Echelon Oval provides the full spectrum of the leading musculoskeletal imaging capabilities, including image acquisition features with uniform fat suppression across a range of anatomies and FOV s, and unique cartilage imaging capabilities.
5 Robust Musculoskeletal Imaging Versatile Imaging ADAGE - Combination of multiple echoes in a gradient echo acquisition provides very high SNR and CNR in a single acquisition for exceptional cartilage differentiation primefse - User selectable receiver bandwidth enables exquisite FSE image quality in the presence of prostheses or implants RADAR - Motion compensation in any plane, any coil with imaging contrast flexibility High Resolution and Small FOV ADAGE Isotropic Imaging isofse - One acquisition, with imaging flexibility to reformat into any plane or slice thickness - Thin slices provide detailed visualization of intricate anatomical structures - Oblique images for tendons and ligaments obstructed by other anatomical structures Sagittal Acquisition Coronal Reformat Cartilage Assessment microte Hitachi exclusive provides visualization of deep, calcified layer of cartilage by employing TE value as low as 0.25ms to enable visualization of anatomy with very short T2 values T2 RelaxMap - Quantitative T2 imaging for superficial and intermediate layer cartilage assessment within a morphological image micro TE (0.50 ms) T2 RelaxMap
6 Fat Suppression HOAST and Regional Shimming - Ensure the highest field uniformity enabling consistent fat suppression for all MSK imaging RF Fat Saturation - Consistent uniform fat suppression ranging from large FOV for hips and spines to small FOV fingers and toes FatSep - Acquires four image contrasts in a single acquisition with water fat separation that is less susceptible to metal artifact Water Excitation - Fat suppression with excellent visualization of cartilage when combined with Balanced SARGE or RF-Spoiled SARGE Proton Density RF Fat Saturation RSSG FatSep Coil Technology Workflow Integrated Technology (WIT) RF Coil System Integrated spine coils provide large coverage and high uniformity for exquisite hip and spine imaging Hand and Wrist Coil 7 channels with three modes of operation delivers high spatial resolution and SNR for even the smallest FOV Shoulder Coil Provides uniform coverage and penetration with coil stability Extremity Coil 12 channel large aperture design supports high-resolution extremity imaging and promotes patient comfort Flexible Extremity Coil - Provides high resolution extremity imaging for forearm, elbow, upper arm and lower leg Foot/Ankle Coil - Boot design provides easy set-up with optimum coverage delivering highresolution, high uniformity imaging Micro Coil - 47mm coil provides high SNR and resolution for imaging anatomy such as fingers and toes Dedicated RF Extremity Coils provide high SNR and in-plane resolution
