4 About the Composer Raymond Wise, is a native of Baltimore, Md., who brings over 30 years of musical training and experience to this musical collection. As a fourth generation gospel musician, Raymond began singing at the age of three with his family singing group "The Wise Singers." Since then he has appeared on radio and television, directed over 30 choirs, recorded 19 albums, performed with several opera singers, orchestras, dance companies, professional recording groups, and toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, as a singer, pianist, composer, recording artists, dancer, choral director, lecturer, and teacher. As a composer Wise has penned more than 600 compositions including Anthems, Spirituals, Sacred and Secular Choral music, Art Songs, Gospel Songs, Children's Songs, Psalm Settings, Band Music, Piano Music, Rap Music, Dance Music, Commercial Jingles, Opera and Musical Theater Scores. The musical works of Raymond Wise have been performed, recorded, and published throughout the United States and abroad by various national and international recording artists and publishers. Wise graduated from the Paul Laurence Dunbar Community High School (Baltimore, Md). He attended Denison University (Granville, Ohio) where he earned a B.F.A. in Music. Wise studied Opera, Art, and German at the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, Austria. He studied African-American History, Music, and Dance at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California. He completed an apprenticeship in the business and recording of Gospel Music with the Walter Hawkins Corporation in Oakland, California. Wise was awarded a Graduate Fellowship from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he earned his Masters in Music Education and Ohio Teacher's Certification. Wise also completed a Doctorate in Music Education from the Ohio State University. 4

5 Dr. Wise's goal is to use his education and experience to establish an accredited school for the gospel arts in which "gospel music" and the "gospel arts" can be instructed, and promoted. Wise is the Founder and President of "Raise Production's Center for the Gospel Arts (CFGA)," a gospel arts training center in Columbus, Ohio, that provides educational training for gospel artists and the community. Dr. Wise has spent the last twenty years developing specialized curriculums in the gospel arts for CFGA and has also developed and implemented courses in African- American worship, gospel music, Spirituals and conducted gospel ensembles at several universities within Ohio which include The Ohio State University, Denison University, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and the Columbus School for Girls. He currently serves as Professor of Practice in the African American African Diaspora Studies Department at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). Heserves as the Associate director of the African American Arts Institute and conducts the African American Choral Ensemble. He also serves on the national faculty of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) and is a member of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA), and serves as the Ethnic and American Repertoire and Standards Chair for ACDA Central Division. Dr. Wise has also served as the Director of the Hampton University Minister's Conference Choir and Organist Guild and Co-Director of the HUMC Academy that provides intensive training in African American sacred music for college students and also served as the Director of the Choir and Organist Guild. His knowledge of both the gospel and classical music genres has enabled him to serve as a consultant and clinician in academic and gospel music settings. His unique and sophisticated compositional style blends both classical and gospel styles, and helps to bridge the musical gap between these worlds by offering works that provide educational, musical, cultural, and spiritual value. Raymond Wise specializes in helping choirs and musical ensembles to perform Gospel Music and Spirituals with a greater sense of musical and spiritual authenticity. 6 About the Raymond Wise Choral Music Series Raymond Wise has penned over 600 compositions, including gospel songs, spirituals, anthems, sacred and secular choral works, art songs, suites, musical theater and opera scores. A description of the various musical scores and resources available is listed below. To follow will be a listing of musical works that are currently available in sheet music. Score Types The Raymond Wise Choral Music Series offers three types of musical scores. Octavos (OCT): Scores printed scores in the standard choral octavo size and style. Bulletin Size Scores (8 x11): Scores Printed on 11 x 17" white paper, folded, and stapled. Digital Score Available: You may now order digital score. Upon reeivig payment for the amount of score you need, Raise will provide a PDF master with an authorization to reprint letter Digital copies range from per score. This is especially useful 1) If you need scores immediately and regular shipping will take too long to deliver the scores, 2) if want to produce a songbook for your workshop or festival to distribute to participants and 3) If you live overseas and need 1 copy for review or need copies immediately. Digital copies will also help to alleviate overseas custom shipping charges. Music Recordings and Demonstration CD Many of the choral works of Raymond Wise have been recorded and are available on CDs. The number listed under the recording column corresponds to the recording on which the music title is available (See page 20 for a list of recordings). Note that some selections have been professionally recorded but not released on recordings. Other selections have been previously recorded on LPs and are not available on CD. These songs can be purchased on a Demo Tape or CD for an additional fee. A demo CD can also be made for musical selections that have not yet been professionally recorded. Dr. Wise has many recordings of concert performances, rehearsals, or personal renditions that can be made available to provide an example of the song's performance. Cost of Demonstration CDs Demo CDs can be made for a cost of $5.00 per CD plus $1.00 per song requested. Ex. CD ($5.00) + 5 Songs ($5.00) = Total ($10.00) From 1-10 selections may be recorded on a CD pending the length of the songs Instrumental Tracks Instrumental Tracks have been recorded and are available for many of the choral works. Find a "Yes" in the Track Column for those titles that are available in professionally recorded tracks. Find a "No" next to those titles for which a track is not available. Note however, that an accompaniment track can be created upon request for an additional fee of $

Frank Lane, Vice President of Raise Productions, is a native of Columbus, Ohio, who has over 25 years of experience in the Gospel Music field. Frank began his gospel music career at the age of 5, directing choirs in church. Since then he has appeared on radio and television, performed in musical theater and opera productions, and has performed throughout the United States and Europe as a member of various local and national musical organizations. He is known as a gifted Praise and Worship leader, Bass vocalist and composer of wonderful gospel songs for children s voices.
