1.1 INTRODUCTION WELCOME Thank you for your interest in Auburn Gymnastics Center s team program. Our team will provide an opportunity for your child to develop confidence, poise, individuality, mental and physical discipline, determination, work ethic and self-respect. Your gymnast will mature among individuals and circumstances that will demand his or her finest efforts and judgments. Your child will develop close relationships with other young athletes who demand the best of themselves and expect the best in others. Gymnastics is one of the greatest overall body conditioning activities your child could experience. Some physical attributes you will find developing in your young gymnast will be strength, flexibility, kinesthetic awareness, muscular control, muscular endurance, coordination, timing, explosive power, agility, balance and grace. Some of the mental attributes we hope to develop are positive self-image, self-motivation, tenacity, patience, goal setting, courage and teamwork. It is rewarding and fun to work hard, improve skills and achieve goals. TEAM AGC HISTORY Brent Phelps purchased Auburn Gymnastics Center in April of Initially AGC had a total enrollment of less than one hundred students with no team at all. During our first competitive season we had five girls compete levels seven through nine. During our second season ( ) we added a competitive boy s team bringing our total competitive athletes to over sixty. Our team program has consistently grown and we currently train over one hundred competitive gymnasts. Auburn Gymnastics Center currently trains several State, Regional and National Champions. Auburn Gymnastics Center moved into our new, 28,000 square foot facility in April of Our facility is one of the bestequipped gymnastics training centers in the United States. Auburn Gymnastics Center hosted the Region 2 Congress for Coaches and Judges, the 2015 and 2016 National Hopes Elite Qualifier, several Sectional and State Championships, National Judges Cup, Western National Championships and Junior Olympic National Championships as well as our All American Invitational. In June of 2016 Auburn Gymnastics Center acquired Roach Gymnastics in Sumner and we are planning on opening a third location in the DuPont area in July of Our team program continues to produce some of the top gymnasts in the country. We currently have three athletes competing at the collegiate level (University of Utah and University of California Berkeley). AGC has won Washington State Optional program of the Year for the past seven consecutive years. TEAM AGC PHILOSOPHY We exist to make a positive impact in the lives of our students. Our goal is to develop happy, healthy, confident young men and women. AGC is dedicated to providing a positive atmosphere for all parents, students and staff members. Our focus is and will always be the best interest of the child. Safety is of the utmost importance and will never be compromised. Our coaching staff retention is unparalleled in our industry. Our staff has been together for several years. In fact, Coach Jill McGee was hired day one, back in April of 1997! 2.1 TEAM COSTS AND FEES TEAM AGC PAYMENT GUIDELINES Auburn Gymnastics Center s Team Program runs on a monthly basis. 5 If your gymnast becomes injured, ill or otherwise does not complete or finish the season (by your decision or ours) for any reason whatsoever you are still responsible for team assessment expenses. This is the case even if your gymnast never competes. Team sweats and bags are the responsibility of each family. Once you purchase sweats and a bag, you can use them until they wear out, are outgrown or until the gym changes design. You are welcome to trade, buy or sell your sweats and bag amongst other families in our gym. Our coaching staff will ask teams to bring in their sweats and bag for inspection. Auburn Gymnastics reserves the right to determine if new sweats and bag are needed based on size and condition. If you need to purchase sweats, you will be invoiced from the gym. A situation may exist where a team or group of athletes have an opportunity to participate in a special competition or event. Additional events not on our schedule will be at a cost in addition to the normal competition assessment fees. This may include State Teams, Regional Teams and/or International Teams. Additional fees may be required for athletes in the Elite and/or Developmental Programs. FUNDRAISING AGC parents have the opportunity to fundraise through the Booster Club to help offset the cost of competition. The Booster Club is a non-profit 501c3 organization. All competitive team athletes are required to be a member of the Booster Club no matter if they fundraise or not. Please contact the Booster Club for additional information concerning their organization and fundraising. Auburn Gymnastics Center reserves the right to withdraw funds from your fundraised account should your account become past due. All gym fees, including tuition, assessment and other fees must be current with assessments being paid in full before you can be reimbursed for other team related expenses. By signing the Parent Handbook Acknowledgement, you expressly agree, understand and give pre-authorized permission for AGC To withdraw funds for your fundraised account for past due tuition, assessments or gym fees. PARENT POINTS Involvement with competitive gymnastics at AGC is a family commitment. Auburn Gymnastics Center hosts at least one competitive meet each season. In order to ensure that every family helps to make each competition that AGC hosts a superior event, we require each family earn parent points by volunteering at the gym. During the season each family will be required to earn 10 points for each competition AGC hosts. There is a point coordinator who will keep track of your points and also post any point opportunities. Only adults can earn points for your family. If you do not fulfill your points your account will be charged $20 per missing point. Details of this requirement will be explained as we near the competition season. 2.2 TEAM TRAINING TIMES Auburn Gymnastics Center is a nationally recognized member of USA Gymnastics. We are very competitive in our State, as well as Regionally and Nationally. Our team program provides a competitive team oriented atmosphere. All team athletes are REQUIRED to attend all scheduled competitions.

It is very important that gymnasts arrive to practice on time. We condition for the first part of our workouts and it imperative that the gymnasts are there to keep their strength up. Without proper conditioning your gymnasts will be more prone to injuries. Some levels have options for training days. Auburn Gymnastics Staff will work with you concerning your specific days and times. Once a final schedule is determined for your athlete you may not substitute days. Deviation from your schedule is not permitted for any reason. You may not come to a day that you are not assigned. This policy will be strictly enforced. We welcome your presence at team practice, functions and at every competition. We are a family friendly and family oriented gym. We want your input and support because we want your child to succeed. Please remember to remain positive withy our gymnast at all times. The following rules and policies are designed to ensure a fun, safe and successful program for everyone involved GUIDELINES: Parents are required to stay in the viewing area at all times. Parents should not enter the gymnastics area of the gym for any reason whatsoever. Please remain positive and supportive of your gymnast, coaches and the gym at all times. Negative comments will not be tolerated. If you have questions, comments or concerns please ask. Communication is important and we have an open door policy for all gymnasts and parents. Please come to any of your child s coaches if you have a problem or concern. We are in business to serve you and your child. Your thoughts are important to us. Complaining to other parents will not solve your problem, nor can we if we don t know about it. If you respect us enough to entrust your child with us, please respect us enough to know that we have the best interest of your child at heart. Please let your child s coach know if there is a problem with your child such as injury, illness or medication. Please communicate anything that may affect your athlete s ability to workout or compete. This is very important, as we may need to change our training plan for your gymnast. Parents perform their role at home and outside the gym area. Within the gym the coaches and administrators of the gym play their roles. Please do not coach your child. Your comments may detract from what the coach is doing and could give the gymnast another thing to think about. This interferes with the development of the coach/athlete relationship. Please do not compare your gymnast to other gymnasts on our team or gymnasts from other teams. We are a team and we all work together as a team. On the physical side it is your job to ensure your gymnast gets enough sleep, gets proper nutrition, gets to and from the gym and competitions on time, has the proper clothing and equipment. All team gymnasts are required to have two pairs of useable grips at all times. The emotional side of our sport is just as important. It is your role to provide unconditional love, support and encouragement especially when your gymnast is having difficulties with gymnastics. Please attend all gym and parent club meetings. The meetings serve many purposes including giving the coaches a forum of communication and providing you with a way to ask questions and get information. Fulfill all obligations of having an athlete on team from supporting your gymnast to paying tuition on time. School is more important than gymnastics. The majority of our gymnasts are excellent students. There are times an athlete may need to miss all or part of workout due to a school related assignment. Please let us know if your gymnast will not be at gym.

Please plan family vacations around our competitive schedule as much as possible. We are a team-oriented gym and your gymnast is part of our team. All athletes are required to compete in all regular and post-season meets including Sectional, State, Regional and National Championships. Spring break is a very busy time for competitive gymnastics and workout at this time is important. Auburn Gymnastics Center requires approval of all camps or clinics your athlete may wish to attend. Team AGC may select a camp and encourage all team members to attend the camp together. Gymnasts may not be dropped off at the gym more than 10 minutes prior to workout unless prior arrangements have been made. Pick up your gymnast on time! Gymnasts are not allowed to wait outside the building. It is possible that a gymnast will have to leave our program. This may include the gymnast leaving due to the actions or inactions of his or her parents. We never want to punish a child for the actions of his or her parent(s). We cannot tolerate parents who by their words or actions do not support the policies and values of our team program. Auburn gymnastics Center reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason. Refunds are not given on any tuition or fees paid to Auburn Gymnastics Center should you be asked to leave our program. If your needs are not being fulfilled by Auburn Gymnastics Center please let us know. Our coaches, administrators and owner have an open door policy and we encourage communication. We acknowledge our program is not for everyone. If you decide to leave AGC and go to another gym please let us know before your try another gym. Letting us know you are considering a change will allow us to end our relationship in a positive manner. If you leave Auburn Gymnastics Center for any reason whatsoever (either by your choice or by our choice), you will not be given a refund of any fees paid to the gym. This includes assessments and any and all gym related fees. By signing the acknowledgement of this handbook you fully understand, agree and accept this policy. 3.2 PARENTAL ROLE DURING COMPETITION Auburn Gymnastics Center includes coaches, athletes and parents as part of our TEAM. We encourage all of our parents to attend every competition. Having a strong cheering section is an advantage for our team. GUIDELINES: Always pay the appropriate admission fees when attending meets. Not paying is cheating and stealing. This is not the way we would like our gym represented and it sends the wrong message to your athletes. Cheer loud and often, however do so in a respectful manner. Don t be disruptive to other gymnasts, parents or judges. Cheer for all members of our team as well as any outstanding performances you see at a meet. Become friends with parents around you and cheer for their athletes as well. Good sportsmanship is important! Promote AGC in any way you feel is appropriate. T-Shirts, banners, etc. are awesome. Never speak in a negative way about our gym or our athletes of the coaches or athletes of another gym. Please stay positive. Please do not contact your gymnast once they have been turned over to the coaches at a meet. We want their focus to be on the competition with as few distractions as possible. After the meet your child will come see you! Parents are not allowed to approach ANY officials of a meet for any reason whatsoever. Negative comments about meets, equipment, teams, etc. are not acceptable. DO NOT CALL OTHER GYMS FOR MEET INFORMATION. AGC WILL PROVIDE INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Parents are not allowed to remove a gymnast from the competition floor for any reason. Parents, siblings or friends are not permitted on the floor of a meet at anytime. Gymnasts that have past due assessment fees, tuition, gym and/or Booster Club fees including completing Parent Points may not be allowed to participate in competition.

Your gymnast must arrive at a meet 15 minutes prior to the scheduled warm-ups unless your coach indicates otherwise. Should you arrive late your gymnast may not be allowed to participate in the competition. All athletes must stay at the meet for all team awards including multi-session meets. 4.1 COMMUNICATION Communicating effectively with everyone on our team is a challenge. All team members have a file with their name on it in the team file cabinet located near the front door. We work very hard to get information to you in a timely manner by putting information on the bulletin board, in your file or via . Communication is very important to AGC; therefore we have an open door policy. If you have questions, don t speculate or assume, ASK! Gossip often distorts truths or intent so please talk directly to AGC Staff. You can help us communicate by checking the board, and your file often. Don t hesitate asking your coach a question. If you need further clarification go to your Team Program Director. As a final option you may call and schedule an appointment with the owner. 5.1 RESPECT THE SPORT OF GYMNASTICS The way you act in the gym and at competitions is a reflection on yourself, your teammates and Team AGC. Only the highest standards of behavior are acceptable. The following actions show respect and are expected of Team AGC athletes: Participate in all scheduled competitions. We are a competitive TEAM. We measure our work and progress by competition in front of our families, friends, coaches and teammates. While winning is not the only goal, winning represents that for which we strive. Trying to win means you attend practice every day, you work hard every day, you overcome fear and get up every time you fall down. Attend every practice leading up to competitions. Every competition is important in some way, but some competitions are more important than others. Sectional Championships, State Championships, Regional Championships and National Championships are very important. It is imperative for gymnasts to attend all scheduled workouts leading up to competitions. Show the highest regard for our sport and your hard work by arriving to all competitions on time. Conduct yourself with grace and courage during the competition by accepting all scores in a positive manner. Thank your coaches, judges and meet hosts for spending their time on your behalf. During competition gymnasts are required to wear team warm up and competition apparel. Keep all items needed for the meet in your team bag. All gymnasts must be in warm-ups for awards. Gymnasts must also remain with their team until the awards ceremony is concluded. 6.1 GYMNASTS DAILY ROLE WORKOUT ATTIRE Workout attire must be clean and appropriate. Please review the following guidelines: Girls must wear leotards Sports bras are required as needed Two-piece workout attire is not permitted at any time No jewelry except post style earrings Long hair must be tied back TEAM COMMITMENT We accept team members by invitation and through a trial process. There are always more athletes that want to be on team than we can accommodate. If you are not attending workout you may be taking the place of someone that would like to be on team. We require every gymnast to attend every workout possible. Please phone the gym if you will not be at workout. NUTRITION BREAK Nutrition breaks are given for all workouts that exceed three hours. Please send your athlete with a healthy snack. Every gymnast should also have a water bottle to keep in his or her locker. If you have a question about snacks please ask your coach.

7.1 DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS GUIDELINES The rules and policies associated with Auburn Gymnastics Center have been outlined in this handbook. In the event there is an ongoing pattern of disruption or in case of rule infractions disciplinary action may be necessary. The handbook and procedures listed below are not intended to be inclusive. They represent our beliefs as to what disciplinary actions are necessary and appropriate. We will treat all of our gymnasts and parents as individuals and will seek to impose the most effective disciplinary actions based on each unique set of circumstances. EXAMPLES OF DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS The coach will give the athlete a verbal warning to correct the misbehavior. The athlete will be asked to go home for the day If the problem persists, further disciplinary actions including, but not limited to: The coach may request a meeting with the parents. The gymnast may be suspended from the team for a period of time or may be scratched from a competition. PLEASE NOTE: If a gymnast is suspended from workout or for a competition for any reason the fees associated with training or competing are not refundable. The gymnast may be asked to leave the program if we cannot get him or her to conform to the expectations of the team, coach or gym. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OF FEES WHATSOEVER IF A GYMNAST IS ASKED TO LEAVE THE PROGRAM. ALL ASSESSMENT FEES OUTSTANDING WILL BE DUE. 8.1 GENERAL INFORMATION LEAVING WORKOUT Gymnasts must ask permission to leave the gym. This applies to leaving practice early, going to the restroom or calling home. Your coaches need to know where you are at all times. GYMNAST RESPECT Gymnasts should treat other gymnasts with respect and kindness. We are a team and we expect gymnasts to be good teammates. Athletes should be especially kind to younger gymnasts as they look up to older teammates. GYM RESPECT Athletes should act in a way that shows respect for themselves and the gym. We want the gym to be a happy, fun and positive place. There is no place in our gym for belittling comments, displays of anger and/or disgust, talking back to coaches or other athletes. HONESTY Gymnasts, coaches and athletes should be honest. Cheating is the ugliest form of disrespect. It shows disrespect to your coaches, teammates, parents and yourself. If you cannot or will not complete an assignment be honest about it. This includes communicating with your coach. INJURED GYMNASTS Injured gymnasts are expected to participate in practice and gym activities to the extent possible. We will do our best to work around the injury. INCLEMENT WEATHER Auburn Gymnastics Center follows the Auburn School District for gym delays and closures. If there is no school in Auburn due to inclement weather or conditions then we will not have workout. If the Auburn School District has late start we will have gym. In case of natural disaster such as earthquake the gym will be closed.

COLLEGE BOUND ATHLETES Auburn Gymnastics Center has several scholarship athletes competing for a variety of university programs. We have experience helping college bound athletes find a program that will suit their needs. All gymnasts in grade nine or higher are asked to submit a copy of their grades to Auburn Gymnastics Center to help in planning for college gymnastics. Students should work with Auburn Gymnastics Center concerning SAT Testing and NCAA Clearinghouse. SCHOOL SPORTS Level 9 and 10 athletes will not be allowed to compete in any high school sports without permission from the coaching staff. Lower level athletes may be allowed to participate in school related sports. Please contact the Program Manager for more information. If your athlete participates in sports other than gymnastics please inform your program director prior to participating in that sport. If you need to reach your gymnasts in an emergency please call AGC at You child can also use the gym phone if they need to reach you for any reason. If a parent chooses to have their child bring their cell phone to gym, please comply with the following rules: Absolutely NO CHECKING TEXTS during practice. Cell phones may be looked at only during designated breaks. Cell phones must stay in your child s locker at all times. Please do not text your parents with complaints during practice SPEAK WITH YOUR COACHES! During competitions phones must ALWAYS stay inside your gym bag. Please also be aware that posts can be misconstrued and the ownership of Auburn Gymnastics Center will not tolerate anything that is regarded as inappropriate toward the program, coaching staff, another athlete or athletes, or even towards another club. Please use social media gracefully and with respect to all others involved. GUARANTEES AND PROMISES Auburn Gymnastics Center does not make promises or guarantees on the future of your gymnast s career. This includes camps, levels, state championships, regional championships, nationals, TOPS, Hopes and Elite gymnastics. We never have and never will. Our program and coaches will help your gymnasts work towards their gymnastics goals. 9.1 TEAM TRAVEL RULES Auburn Gymnastics Center will hold a parent meeting prior to the season to review all travel rules and policies. Travel is not included in tuition or assessments and all travel costs are the responsibility of the parents. Travel is an important part of our team program. Level 4-10 athletes will travel to at least one out of state meet per season. All athletes are REQUIRED to attend all scheduled travel meets. Failure to attend any travel meet may result in removal from our team program. Athletes and parents represent Auburn Gymnastics Center while on travel trips. Please maintain control of your gymnast at all times. Gymnasts should not be allowed to run in the halls at hotels or act inappropriately at any time. Please be aware that wearing AGC clothing associates you and your athlete with AGC. Athletes are required to be at the competition site on time. Athletes that arrive late may not be allowed to compete THANK YOU Auburn Gymnastics Center takes gymnastics and the development of your child seriously. We realize we spend several hours per week with your child and we understand the responsibility associated with that influence. If at any time you have a question or comment concerning your child s well being, please contact Brent Phelps immediately.

The coaches and staff at Auburn Gymnastics Center would like to thank you for your involvement and support of our program. You and your child are important to us and we appreciate the opportunity to coach your gymnast. We look forward to a fun, safe and successful season! 11.1 CONTACT INFORMATION AUBURN GYMNASTICS CENTER, INC web: th Street SW Suite 106 phone: Auburn, Washington AUBURN GYMNASTICS SUMNER web: th Street East D-103 phone: Sumner, WA OWNERS cell: Coach Brent Phelps gymbrent@aol.com Coach Lauren Phelps cell: teamagc@yahoo.com Team Address teamagc@yahoo.com *PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING FORMS AND RETURN THEM TO THE GYM: 1. 16 FINANCIAL OBLIGATION By signing this Financial Obligation, I fully understand and agree to the Rules, Policies and Procedures of Auburn Gymnastics Center, including the following: Assessment payments are due on or before the 15 th of each month beginning June 15, 2016 with the last payment due on or before February 15, A late fee of $30 will be added to each payment received after the 15 th of each month. Returned checks will be charged a fee of $30 and the account will be placed on a cash only basis for the remaining payments. Tuition payments and assessment payments must be made separately. You may transfer funds from your booster account to pay assessments. Payments are due on the dates listed above no matter if they are paid by you or your booster account. Please consult the Booster Club on the payment transfer process, as this is not handled by Auburn Gymnastics Center. Auburn Gymnastics Center can withdraw funds from your Booster Club Account should any gym account become past due (tuition, fees and/or assessments) at anytime. All gym fees must be current and assessment fees must be paid in full prior to fundraised money being withdrawn for other expenses, including, but not limited to travel. If your gymnast becomes injured, ill or otherwise does not complete or finish the season (by your decision or ours) for any reason whatsoever you are still responsible for team assessment expenses. This is the case even if your gymnast never competes. This is further explained in the Auburn Gymnastics Center Team Handbook. Gymnasts with accounts more than 15 days past due may not be allowed to workout and/or compete until the account is brought current. If you are late or default on this financial obligation AGC has the right to seek legal action to enforce collection. In case of suit or action is instituted to collect this note or any portion hereof, the undersigned agrees to pay such additional sum required for collection including but not limited to collection fees, court fees and/or attorneys fees in Washington State. All gymnasts are required to compete in all meets including travel meets. Travel is not included in the assessment and is at each athlete s expense, including State, Regionals, Westerns and Nationals. Training sessions and team activities are required at Regionals, Westerns and Nationals. The coaching staff will estimate your gymnast s level with payments beginning accordingly. By November 1, 2016 the initial level of you gymnast will be established. Should your athlete compete at a different level we will compute the difference in assessment and you will be credited or billed. The assessment is the amount you will pay to compete for the season. Assessments are used as indicated in the AGC Team Handbook and individual accounts are not kept in an effort to preserve NCAA Eligibility. There are no credits or refunds at the end of the season whatsoever. If there are funds left over at the end of the season Auburn Gymnastics Center will use the funds to help pay for coaches education and or team related equipment. TOTAL ASSESSMENT: I HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO THE PROVISIONS STATED HEREIN AS WELL AS THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED IN THE AUBURN GYMNASTICS CENTER TEAM HANDBOOK REGARDING COMPETITION AND ASSESSMENTS AND THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYMENT.
