11 Types of Exercise One Faith, Aerobic Recommended 150 minutes per week Walking, running, bicycling, dancing, etc Anaerobic Short exertion; ideal for skill or muscle building Weight training, jumping, sprinting Strength Weight lifting, Pilates, resistance bands Flexibility Stretching like yoga or Pilates, Which is best? The one that you do! But ideally- work up to getting a mix of all 4 11
12 Less Common Exercises One Faith, Water (i.e. water aerobics, water jogging, etc) Self-defense classes (Aikido, Krav Marga, etc) Sports leagues (Kickball, softball, etc) Dance (i.e. Zumba, Pound, etc) And more! Unlimited options Tips: Encourage any activity that elevates heart rate. If it doesn t challenge you, it doesn t change you! Encourage variety! Prevents burnout Increases the number of muscles used Remember: consistent activity better than consistent exercise More benefit in being active all day than just one chunk of time per day 12

16 One Faith, May Challenge: Synod Steps Challenge Goal: to get the synod moving! May Teams of 4-6; daily average steps The Reward: Each member of the top team will receive 200 Vitality points. For the top 10 teams, each team member will receive 100 Vitality points. All participants will receive 35 Vitality points. 16
17 One Faith, May Challenge: Synod Steps Challenge 1) Consent You must consent YES to be in the Challenge Community by 4pm CST on April 30 th if you want to participate in this challenge. The challenge community tab will appear in 48 hours if you newly consented. If you consent after this time, you will not be eligible to participate in this challenge. 2) Register & Build Registration May 1 May 14 Log into your Vitality account to register for the Synod Steps Challenge under the Challenge community tab Accept the Rules of the Road Gather a group of 4-6 people, select a captain, have them create your team, accept their invitation to your team 3) Sync Up Double check each member on your team has their fitness devices synced to their Vitality account. 17
