1 TERM 2 PLC LIGHTHOUSE CO-CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES SENIOR SCHOOL ENROLMENT FORM Yoga, Fitness, Body Ride and Expressive Arts classes now on offer! Co-Curricular options for Term 2 are bigger and better than ever now many are being offered at the PLC Lighthouse. All activities start in Week 1 of Term 2 and are detailed below. Please retain this information as a reference for the dates, drop-off and pick-up details. If your daughter would like to participate in any of these activities, please complete the attached enrolment form and return it to the Lighthouse Reception. Alternatively, you can scan and the completed enrolment form to lighthouse@plc.wa.edu.au. Forms are due by Friday 27 April. Late enrolments will be accepted if there are places available. Activities that are undersubscribed will not go ahead. As in previous years, fees will still be charged if a student is allocated a place and does not attend. Therefore, students and parents should check for any possible conflicts before returning their enrolment forms. Fees will be added to your daughter s school account at the end of the term. Withdrawal from an activity should be advised to the Lighthouse reception in writing or via as soon as possible. A qualified instructor will be taking each class. Students in Years access to fitness centre Students in Years will be able to start using the cardio space in their own time from the start of Term 2, once they have completed their induction and handed in the Fitness Centre Use Student Form. All students will complete induction during class time this term. The cardio space is available from 6.00 am to 7.00 pm weekdays. There will also be scheduled times when students can access the circuit room with supervision. Students can also access the Fitness Centre during study periods. 2 Expressive Arts Colour My World is a creative group activity that promotes physical and emotional wellbeing through expressive art activities. There is mounting evidence showing that engaging in art activities can be helpful to reduce stress and encourages self-expression through painting, drawing and 3D artwork. Each workshop will run for two hours, 3.45pm-5.45pm once per week (Tuesday), starting in Week 2. Details of each workshop are listed below. Students from Year 5 to Year 12 are invited to enrol. All 8 sessions $80 / Individual session $15. Materials are included in the cost unless specified in the workshop description. Maximum participants per session 15 students. The programme will only be offered if a minimum of 10 students commit to attend. Wish Upon a Dream (Dream Catcher) Students will create dream catchers. Dreamy Landscapes (Textiles Paintings) Students will need to bring a landscape image that they will wish to re-create with multi coloured fabrics, beads, shells and feathers onto a canvas. Watery Still-Life (Learn how to paint with Watercolours) Still-life composition of fruit. Student will learn the techniques of how to paint with Watercolours. Observational Landscape Painting (Painting in Acrylics) Students will need to bring an A5 photocopy of a photograph of their favourite holiday destination Back to Wood (Wooden Brooches and Cork Pendants) Students will create wooden broaches and cork pendants. All That Flutters Students will learn the techniques of creating their own feather jewellery with wire, feathers and beads. Someone Else s Treasure (Found Object Assemblage) Students will need to bring old objects such as bicycle wheels, tennis racquets or sifts.

A 45-minute high-energy spinning class with upper body and core toning segments to give you a full body work out. This class is fun and inspiring; you will walk away from the high-energy atmosphere feeling strong and invigorated. Participants will be set up on the bike to fit your bodies then coached on how to cycle safely with good technique. Body Ride & Core (Open) Day and Time Tuesday 6.00 pm 7.00 pm Fitness Centre The ultimate full body challenge are you willing to take it on? A 45-minute high-energy spinning class, finishing with ten-minute core toning segments to give you a full body work out. You will walk away from the high-energy atmosphere feeling strong and invigorated. Boxilates (Open and Years 7 12) Day and Time Monday 6.00 pm pm with Kelly, Day and Time Tuesday 7.00 am 8.00 am with Annelise Day and Time Thursday 7.00 am 8.00 am with Viola Movement Boxilates combines boxing and Pilates to challenge your strength, coordination, flexibility and get your heart rate up. It is an interval-style workout that switches between cardio boxing and slow, controlled Pilates core exercises. The class is positive, uplifting and you'll work up a sweat to some great music. Boxing & Fitness (Years 7 12) with Jess Day and Time Thursday 6.00 pm 7.00 pm Fitness Centre This class will get your heart rate pumping. You'll start with a warmup and then go through the basics jabs, hooks, uppercuts along with how to successfully duck a punch. After learning these skills, you partner up and try the new moves out with some conditioning and interval training, as well as an ab workout. Dance Mix (Years 6 10) with Sascha Day and Time Monday 3.45 pm 4.45 pm Movement Get your groove on, sweat away your stresses and get moving with a fun and uplifting Dance MIX class. Combining the latest moves from music clips, Hip Hop and Zumba, this class is perfect for dancers of all abilities who want to have fun. In Dance MIX you will learn new dance routines and finish with a core conditioning workout. Fitness Training (Years 7 12) with Liv Day and Time Wednesday 7.00 am 8.00 am Circuit Get fit and have fun with your very own fitness trainer, who will motivate you, keep your workout varied and help you get the most out of the gym. These sessions suit all fitness levels and provide a chance to challenge yourself physically and mentally as you work towards healthy, positive goals. Konga (Years 6 12) with Adelle Day and Time Wednesday 5.00 pm 6.00 pm Movement Konga is an easy-to-follow, high intensity fusion of boxing, cardio, dance and sculpting set to music from all decades. Expect to squat, burpee, sprint and sweat while some big tunes transport you to your happy place, no matter your fitness level or dance ability. Martial Arts (Years 7 12) with Jess Day and Time Thursday 3.45pm 4.45pm Movement Through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, students will learn self-defence skills and build confidence, body awareness, balance, discipline and self-control. Taught by Jess, who holds a second dan black belt in Taekwondo and is trained in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this class will show that lessons learnt on the mat can have a lifechanging effect. Pilates (Open) Day and Time Thursday 6.00 am 7.00 am Movement Pilates involves a series of spring resistance-based exercises for deep muscle strengthening, stabilising and development. These classes are designed to improve postural alignment, challenge strength and flexibility whilst still maintaining a strong foundation of techniques. The class is adaptable to suit a range of pilates experience and fitness levels and options will be given to ensure all participants are challenged. Pilates & TRX (Open) Day and Time Tuesday 6.00 am 7.00 am Circuit Find your core, challenge your body and change your life. Our Pilates & TRX classes are a series of spring resistance-based exercises used for deep muscles strengthening, stabilising and development. Our Pilates classes are designed to improve postural alignment, challenge strength and flexibility whilst still maintaining a strong foundation of techniques. The class is adaptable to suit a range of Pilates experience and fitness level and options will be given to challenge all participants. TRX suspension will be integrated into some parts of the class with pilates principals applied. You will leave Yoga feeling physically and spiritually invigorated. Led by a qualified instructor who will help you learn a safe and stable foundation for yoga practice, this class is suitable for beginners to advanced yoga students. Zumba (Years 7 12) with Tori Day and Time Wednesday 7.00 am 8.00 am Movement Love to dance, sweat and move? Then get ready to turn it up! Zumba is a dance based fitness party where the energy is contagious and the instructor will have you grooving and dancing along to easy to follow choreography. Movement
