Action Items EC Meetings (18 th /21 st September, 2014 Copenhagen) All went through the action items and updated the status of each. During discussion of the action item related to the JHP and the planned invitation of the Springer representative to the EC meeting, the council members agreed that before inviting Springer representative and initiating the discussions over the journal royalties, it is necessary to think about the strategy that EHF will to follow. Paolo Martelletti (PM) will be in contact with Olga () regarding reaching out to the Springer representative. Dimos suggested to organize a committee who will think about the strategy and planning of the discussions with the Springer. Committee members are: Lars Edvinsson, Paolo Martelletti, Zaza Katsarava, Dimos Mitsikostas and Christian Lampl. Prepare the strategy on how to approach Springer to talk about royalties Committee (see above) Invite Springer representative to the next EHF EC meeting taking place during the HIS Olga (Office)

To write a thank you to Michel Ferrari and Alan Rapoport in regards to the iheadache School Dimos To research for potential European members to become part of EHF Olga (Office) 4. Criteria for Paraclinical Investigation in primary Headache Disorders The criteria for paraclinical investigation in primary headache disorders have been finalized and reviewed by the committee. Dimos suggested to invite reviewers from outside the EHF board. Vera Osipova suggested inviting P. Evers or P. Goadsby, while Dimos suggested inviting Michel Ferrari. Dimos will be sending the methodology to those who haven t received it yet. To send Methodology to the ones who do not receive it previously - Dimos 5. Evaluation from EHMTIC 2014 Rigmor briefly went through the evaluation report. She mentioned that successful sessions at EHMTIC were quite crowded which made the crowd unevenly distributed. Next time in Glasgow in 2016, it was suggested to have 2-poster chairs to improve attendance of the poster sessions. Olga will send to all the EHMTIC evaluation report projected during the meeting which showed the feedback of the participants and suggestions for the program in Glasgow. Some of the comments mentioned by the present board members were:
3 - Different level of the quality of the presentations - Dissatisfaction with the communication level with the EHMTIC project manager - Closing ceremony was not that well organized It was suggested that during the next congress, the EHF president should give an introduction speech at the opening ceremony and the new president should be introduced at the closing ceremony. Vera Osipova sent the list of suggestions to the board on how to improve the next opening and closing ceremony. The headache night had a great success and should be continued during the next congress. Send to all the EHMTIC evaluation report Olga (Office) 6. EHMTIC Management fees Rigmor reminded Secretariat to send EHMTIC preliminary financial report to have an idea of the finances. The final financial report is planned to be sent by the end of January. Marcel Dekker requested a quote for managing EHMTIC accounts from the Griffin Stones who currently manages EHF accounts. This will be supplied by the end of January 2015 and further discussed within the EHMTC board at the end of January. Currently MT (Migraine Trust) charges EHMTIC budget fairly high amount and therefore could be re-considered depending of the new quote. To send a quote from the Griffin Stones for managing EHMTIC accounts Olga (Office) 7. Ideas for Programme in Glasgow The suggestions for the topics for the next EHMTIC offered by the board members are as follows: - High / low pressure - Joint venture with EFIC (pain related) - Dental topics - Migraine evolution in elderly (would be presented by Vera Osipova) - ORA & migraine - EHF lecture Some of the main suggestions by the EHMTIC delegates are as follows: - How to treat difficult cases
4 - Do more teaching courses - Medication overuse headache - Epidemiological aspects of headache disorders - Idiopathic intracranial hypertension headache - Migraine aura and stroke - More in pediatric headache - Neuromodulation in headache The full list of the suggestions will be sent to the board members by Olga. 8. The role of Peter Goadsby as an observer in EHF It was agreed that P. Goadsby as an observer of the EHF should be invited to the EHF executive council meeting once the topics of the agenda are relevant for him to be present. In that case, EHF will be covering his travel / accommodation expenses. EHF President should have the same role in the MT board and therefore sent an official letter to P. Goadsby regarding this. As it was suggested by P. Goadsby in his latest , this has to be passed to Wendy Thomas since the request like this can only be discussed the Trust Directors. Dimos will follow up on this matter and send an to P. Goadsby. To send a response to the latest from P. Goadsby - Dimos 9. The role of Audrey Craven as an observer in EHF The role of Audrey Craven as a president of the EHA will be similar to the role of Peter Goadsby where she will be invited to the EHF EC meetings according to the relevance of the agenda topics. During those occasions EHF will be covering her travel expenses. 10. Mrs. Craven welcome to the meeting Dimos welcomed Audrey Craven to the meeting and expressed the board s gratitude for accepting the role of the EHF observer and for coming to the meeting. Audrey introduced herself to all and talked about European Headache Alliance, which is a patient organization having about 18 country members. 11. EAN Strategy Audrey Craven mentioned that EAN is interested in the education and would like to harmonize the knowledge. Being the president of the EHA and European Federation of Neurological Associations
5 (EFNA), she suggested that together with the EHF as a team, they could facilitate the meeting and build relationship with ENA. She talked about the transition of EFNS and ENS into EAN and mentioned that EFNA looks forward to working with the EAN and with the support of the President Prof. Günther Deuschl (elected in June 2014), to unite and pursue the goals of the neurologists in Europe. Audrey talked about the European Month of the Brain and the conference on European foresight policy for brain research and healthcare, co-organized by Irish Presidency of the European Council. One of the other projects planned for 2015 by EFNA together with the Pain Alliance in Europe is the launch of the MEP interest group on Brain, Mind and Pain. The purpose of this campaign will be raising political awareness of the impact of neurological and pain disorders. Rigmor Jensen is the chair of The EAN - Scientific Panel of Headache and mentioned to Audrey that many proposals have been send on behalf of EHF as well as a letter directly to the scientific board but haven t received any replies so far. EHF is planning to address scientific board directly. Dimos suggested to address Prof. Günther Deuschl directly and to offer collaboration, whereas Zaza suggested to contact first Cristina Tassorelli. To contact Cristina Tassorelli and ask for assistance in approaching Prof. Günther Deuschl (EAN) - Zaza 12. Pass a hat for headache / campaign Audrey Craven introduced to all the Pass a Hat for Headache campaign concept which is planned to be organized by the European Headache Alliance. There are 21 patient organizations in Europe while the level of awareness about headache and migraine is still very low. The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of the various types of headache disorder in Europe which will also allow national patient groups to raise funds. The first phase of the campaign will be social media-based and will take place during summer Video testimonies from headache patients to attract involvement and donations. In addition to this, offline events will be organized to sustain the campaign over 12-months period. The launch of the campaign is proposed to take place during the opening ceremony of the HIS in May 2015 by passing the hat.
6 EHA together with its members will be working on the events to mark European Migraine Day of Action 12 th September A standard hat will be produced and will be passed from one country to another and be present at each keynote event. The EHF council members supported this idea and found it very relevant. EHF is willing to support this campaign and promote it at different EHF events/activities such as - the forthcoming winter school of headache in Turkey. 13. Headache schools programme Vera Osipova introduced the discussion about the headache schools and about the input of the EHF to the educational processes in Europe and especially in the developing countries. She mentioned that at present in the majority of the European Countries the initial education in headache field has become the responsibility of the National Headache Societies and is mostly carried out by the local headache specialists. This way, she presumed that EHF schools will be gradually replaced by the National Headache Schools. The program of the National Headache Schools normally covers basic knowledge in the field of headache and could be entirely presented by local headache specialists in local language while the program of the National Headache Conferences covers more advanced topics and could have the speakers from EHF (members). Vera suggested that as of 2016 EHF should endorse and financially support National Headache Events by paying for the travel of the invited speakers etc. This can be restricted to the low-income/developing countries and has be thought through. Winter Headache School to be organized in Turkey on the 20 th February in 2015 can be viewed as an example of a well-organized local event to where the international headache experts are invited. The traditional EHF Headache Schools can still take place upon request. The council appreciated Vera s suggestion and are willing to consider EHF involvement in National Headache Events/Conferences. 14. Headache school in Turkey Aksel Siva presented Winter Headache School planned for the February It will be a 3-days educational activity organized by the Turkish Neurological Society Headache Chapter. The school is organized on a yearly basis since the The participants of the school are usually practicing neurologists, neurology residents, primary care physicians and physicians from different specialties with interest in headache and their number varies from 100 to 150. Aksel mentioned different educational activities taking place during the winter school such as below:
7 Proposal of a new book of the EHF series The headache series overview for the 2015 was proposed by Paolo Martelletti.
8 The next headache series which are in their final status is Societal impact of Headache and will be issued in February The overview of the planned series can be viewed below. VOLUME EDITORS TITLE Status Publishing date Aksel Siva and Christian Cased Based Diagnosis and Management Lampl of Headache Disorders Published September 2014 Timothy J. Steiner and Lars J. She asked Paolo to approach Springer regarding the sales volume of the first headache series before continuing with publishing next headache series. The rest of the council members agreed that the headache series would be useful for young scientists and should be continued with no doubt. Paolo informed all about the proposal by Maurice Vincent and Messoud Ashina of a new publication in the headache filed: The Headache Examination. Their idea is to edit a book on the art of approaching a headache patient form a clinical point of view, at the bed site. To report to the EHF council regarding the sales of the first book series Paolo 16. Endorsement for the Greppi Award 2015 Paolo presented Enrico Greppi Award 2015 by the Italian Society for the Study of Headaches. The endorsement of the award was mutually approved by all.
9 17. EHF meeting for Neurostimulation Dimos continued the discussion about the idea to organize a Christmas EHF meeting in 2015 which would be an independent meeting and non-related to EHMTIC. This should be an educational meeting introducing new information and including teaching courses, and interactive sessions. It will be focused on novel migraine treatments, mainly monoclonal antibodies and neuromodulation. The aim is to welcome young neurologists and GPs. Although some of the present council members had their concerns about the interest from the industries to participate, it was still positively accepted. All EHF council members will join the forces in networking and reaching out to the possible stakeholders of the EHF meeting. As the next step, it was advised to contact Pfizer (Austria) representative with the request for collaboration and with the preliminary program. To draft a preliminary program of the EHF meeting 2015 Dimos To contact Pfizer representative with the request for collaboration Olga (EHF Office) 18. AOB - Date of the next EC meeting in Valencia - Invite 5 National Headache societies presidents It was suggested to have the next face-to-face EHF meeting in Valencia during the IHS meeting in Valencia taking place during the 14 th -17 th may The date of the EC meeting will have to be confirmed on a later stage. Dimos suggested to invite 5 presidents of the EHF National Headache Societies. The budget has be taken into consideration before inviting those presidents. Confirm the dates for the next EC EHF Meeting in Valencia Olga (EHF Office) Check for the possibility to invite 5 presidents of the EHF National Headache Societies Olga / Dimos
