If you ve never fundraised before it can look like a daunting task, but don t panic, we ve put together this guide to help take out the stress and guess work out to ensure you make your

3 WHAT IS COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING? Community fundraising is a great excuse for getting your mates together to raise money for a good cause. By becoming a Cerebral Palsy Alliance community fundraiser you will be helping individuals and families across New South Wales and the ACT living with cerebral palsy. If you ve never fundraised before it can look like a daunting task, but don t panic, we ve put together this guide to help take out the stress and guess work out to ensure you make your activity/event a success!! Where do you begin? Before you start, think about. How much money you can raise? Set a realistic fundraising goal. Don t set yourself up to fail; set a target that you think you can reach. It doesn t matter if you raise $10 or $10,000 every cent counts! Who will be your sponsors? Take a look at your immediate networks, friends, family, employer, work colleagues and local community. Think about how they could sponsor or donate to you and the amount that could be raised from each group.

4 How should you fundraise? How you raise your funds is completely up to you! This is the time to get creative, put your heads together and brainstorm. You can try something new, one-of-a-kind activities/events attract a lot of attention, or go with tried and tested activity/events which you know will be successful. Why not try online fundraising? It s fast, easy for you and your donors to use and takes most of the stress out of fundraising. Take a look at cerebralpalsy.org.au/get-involved for more details. But what ever you do make it your own. Inject your personality and style into it! Your sponsors will not only be supporting Cerebral Palsy Alliance they will be supporting you as well. Here are some ideas to get your ball rolling Morning/Afternoon tea Hair Beware shave, cut or wax Garage sale Sporting event BBQ Trivia nights Themed work days Chocolate drives Cocktail party Give it up for a week Slave for a day Blackmores Running Festival Sun Herald City2Surf

5 Keep it legal! Before you can proceed with your activity/event you ll need to apply for an Authority to Fundraise, simply fill out the application included in this guide and return by or fax: When your activity/event has been approved you ll receive a letter stating your Authority to Fundraise on behalf of Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Other important things to consider: applicable insurance requirements (your activity/event will not be covered under Cerebral Palsy Alliance insurance policy) applicable council/government permits applicable licences Cerebral Palsy Alliance advises you read the Department of Gaming and Racing guidelines on fundraising and the Charitable Fundraising Act Helpful links: Promotion Get the word out! The more you promote your event, the more chance you have of achieving your fundraising goal. Think about your target sponsor groups and the best way to reach them. There are endless ways to promote your activity/event from flyers, posters, to word of mouth, facebook and TWITTER. Cerebral Palsy Alliance s logo is available on request; any use of this logo must be approved by Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Please MPaiva@cerebralpalsy.org.au with your promotion flyer/poster etc.

Funds can be deposited to Cerebral Palsy Alliance in a number of ways.

6 GIVING THE RAISED FUNDS TO CEREBRAL PALSY ALLIANCE This is the part that makes all the hard work worth it! To ensure we can start putting your funds to good use (and to keep everything legal) Cerebral Palsy Alliance requires funds to be presented no later than two weeks of your activity/ event. Funds can be deposited to Cerebral Palsy Alliance in a number of ways. Deposited directly in to Cerebral Palsy Alliance bank account: BANK: Commonwealth Bank of Australia BSB: A/N: Please note your event reference number must be on any deposit banked directly into Cerebral Palsy Alliances account. Without this reference the funds may not be identified as your event. We also ask that you cfundraising@cerebralpalsy.org.au to notify us of the deposits. Cheque or Money Order to be made out to Cerebral Palsy Alliance: Cerebral Palsy Alliance Community Fundraising PO Box 6427, FRENCHS FOREST NSW 2086 Credit card: Fill in the deposit slip provided and post to above address. Alternatively you can call the community fundraising coordinator to make a payment over the phone. In person: Cerebral Palsy Alliance 187 Allambie Road Allambie Heights NSW 2100 LAST BUT NOT LEAST. Almost there! All you need to do now is send back any receipt books/credit card payment slips, a soft copy of required receipt and your budget sheet. Don t forget to THANK everyone who supported you. You ll probably find most of your supporters will be keen to hear how much money you raised.

Does your activity/event require Public Liability insurance? (Note - your activity/event will NOT be covered by Cerebral Palsy Alliance insurance policy) Does the activity/event require council/government permits? Does the activity/event involve auctions, competitions or raffles? Will you be seeking sponsorship for the activity/event? If yes, Cerebral Palsy Alliance requires a copy of your sponsorship proposal and a list of your target sponsors before approaching. Applicant Acknowledgement I have read and agree to Cerebral Palsy Alliance Community Fundraising Rules and Guidelines and indemnify Cerebral Palsy Alliance from and against any claims for injuries or damage arising at or from the activity/event that is subject of this application. I agree to conduct my activity/event in accordance to Cerebral Palsy Alliance Rules and Guidelines and understand that Cerebral Palsy Alliance reserves the right to withdraw approval of this activity/event if I fail to do so.
