1 Community Managers Network Minutes of the Meeting Held: Friday 21st November, noon 5 Hauteville Terrace, Eastwood a. Welcome and Apologies Committee Attendees: Bronwyn Webster, Cam Opie, Terra Lea Ranson, Carla Leversedge, Reg Budarick, Matt Rose, Nick Day, Shane Thompson, Pru Blackwell Network / Guest Attendees: Linda Brown, Maria Callander, Jenny Sandow (proxy), Cheryle Gray, Lisa Teburea, Amy Pokoney, Theresa Brown, Kate Simpson (Together SA) Apologies: Ros Edwards, Joanne Menadue, Steve Watson, Kristen Manson, Celina Luya b. It was a very inspiring presentation and it was agreed that the committee will pursue opportunities to explore the issue further in d. Standing Items as per Strategic Plan 1. 2 o Urban Development and Community Infrastructure o Community Infrastructure event invitation (refer attachment) Update provided o Children and Families o Youth TLR provided update on Youth Conference. TLR provided update on potential EM forum with LGA on the topic of Youth in October. Youth Network to update information about youth on their website. o Ageing It was suggested the HACC reform group reconvenes. Network to send letter. JS suggested a meeting before end of year. ERA paper provided by CL was distributed to committee and noted. o Volunteers o Evaluation o Disability Distributed and noted o Letter to planning review on behalf of Local Government Access and Inclusion Network (attached for reference) o Lifelong Learning o Health and Wellbeing CG provided Opal update and the committee agreed to continue to monitor recent developments. 2. Providing mutual support and facilitating exchange of knowledge and best practice 2.1 Develop and promote resources for new LG community staff (CO) Proposal for induction kit from Fiona Verity has been distributed to committee and discussed and all were very happy with proposal. 3 2.2 CMN Annual Conference o Evaluation Summary and Financial update (MW) Verbal update on evaluation summary and finances provided by MW. 2.3 National (BW, CO) Letter coming to LGMA regarding money dispersed to each State. 2.4 Links between CMN and academic, research and professional associations o ARC linkage proposal (PB) Recent re-signing of commitment letter distributed in meeting and Pru provided update. PB also provided update on Human Services Working Group. New recent ambassador for Volunteering noted. o Update on LGR&DS Funding for Ageing Strategy (BW/LT) (refer attachment) LT and BW provided update and it was discussed that a subcommittee be formed, to include representatives from Onkaparinga, Marion, Campbelltown, ACC, Mt Barker,. CMN Committee will invite relevant representatives from these councils and it will be chaired by Bronwyn Webster. 2.5 Current Issues and Best Practice o Discuss potential presentations or workshops for upcoming meetings 3. Broadly promote the value of Local Government community services and community development work 3.1 Promotional & Communication Activities (BW/MW) e. Review of Action List f. Any other business It was suggested that there is a great opportunity to work with Together SA by hosting a forum for the members of the CMN, GM and CEO Networks. Note 1/8/14: LGMA (SA) name has been changed to LG Professionals SA. BW/CO Deferred from August to future meeting Committee to respond to inviting for issues to be raised to Minister and suggestions for tour All Note: has been sent. Letter to be drafted and sent to Minister Bronwyn to contact SACOSS and Tracy to circulate any work from YACSA regarding response to Interim report on Welfare Reform BW Pending BW/TJ TOR working group (Bronwyn, Cam, Nick, Terra Lea) to begin discussions and bring findings to future meeting Chair to invite other community related networks and associations to the conference and then convene a meeting of Chairs after the Conference Chair to begin work on incident reporting information sheet.
