1 V O L U M E V I, I S S U E I The Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Helen Keller Doctoral Dispatch F A L L Welcome to academic year ! With the semester well underway, and most of us engrossed in classes and research by now, we thought it would be a good time to reconnect. As the holiday season rolls in, it is important that we press pause and reflect on this past year. In order to accommodate everyone s schedules, we have created a Doodle poll to identify the best time for a get together. Please take a moment to complete the poll linked below the graphic. We had a very successful job search panel in September. A big thanks to Dr. Geiger for organizing and hosting the event, and to Drs. McCoy, DeNard, and Flynn for their openness and willingness to share their experiences! Let s all congratulate Susie Beltran for going on the job market! Now that she s so busy, she is passing on the Doctoral Dispatch baton! Please welcome our new editor and first year doctoral student, Lauren Cox. Doc Student Outing: Did you notice the quote up top? A new quote will be featured in each coming issue of the newsletter. Submit your favorite ones to lecox@uic.edu.
