2 Spring Conference Sign-Up It s time for Spring Conference Sign-Up at Middleton Elementary! Conferences are on Thursday, February 23rd and Thursday, March 2nd. Select the link below to sign-up with your teacher(s). Please contact the teacher if you need assistance or have any questions. In addition to signing up with your classroom teacher, you have the option to also sign up with a specialist teacher if you choose to. 3 Parent Resources Community Education offers a variety of support groups for families, including an Anxiety/Depression Support Group of Parents, ADHD Parent Support Group and Autism Parent Support and Networking Group. All of the groups are free of charge. Below is the detailed information for each group outlined by Community Education. Further details can be located at Anxiety/Depression Support Group for Parents If your child is experiencing fear, anxiety or signs of depression, you know how challenging this can be. Don't go it alone! We've got lots of resources and practical tips to help children and adolescents dealing with depression and anxiety. Topics will include what is depression and how does it differ from being sad, what is anxiety and how is it different than worrying, sources of support for children/adolescents and parents, medication, therapy and other resources will be discussed. Also discussed will be how to know if or when hospitalization is needed for suicidal ideation and self harm behaviors.this group will meet the third Wednesday of the month from 6:15 to 8:15 at Cottage Grove Middle School. The members of the support group and the interests of the group will dictate the types of presenters and topics for future meetings. You may join the group at any time. Parents can attend one or more meetings. Facilitator: AMY CARRISON, Psy.D., LADC is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Minnesota. She has worked with adolescents for 15+years in a variety of substance abuse treatment settings. Amy enjoys working with children and adolescents who are struggling with a variety of issues. ADHD Parent Support Group Looking for resources, speakers, and the camaraderie of fellow parents raising children with ADHD? Join us for one or more of these monthly meetings where topics range from ADHD and school, support systems, friendships, medication, discipline, and positive family time and more. Join any time. Facilitator: Vanessa Schulte, M.S.W, LICSW is a Licensed School Social Worekr and a Licened Social Worker in Minnesota. She provides counseling services to children, teens, young adults and their families through Counseling Psychologists of Woodbury and also has experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

4 Parent Resources Continued Autism Parent Support and Networking Group Don't go it alone! Community Education now has a well received monthly support group for families and friends of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Join us to learn about share together the challenges and victories of raising and working with children with ASD. The group will offer informal presentations on select topics as well as allow time for families to talk with each other about the topic presented or on subjects that may be of interest to them. The members of the the support group and the interests of the group will dictate the types of presenters and topics for future meetings. Meets monthly on Tuesdays at ERHS beginning again on Jan. 17th from 6:30 8:30 p.m Facilitator: Kristin Batson is a mother of a 8 year old son with Autism. She is heavily involved with helping others make their way through the maze of Autism treatments and spends time with parents and teachers new to it. Kristin has attended two Autism Research Institute Conferences and has experience and interest in both traditional and nontraditional therapy.

5 PTO NEWS Carnival Update: Friday, Feb 10 th 6:30-8:30pm Classroom Baskets: Keep sending in your donations! Word on the street is that many classrooms baskets are looking sparse. No time to shop or not sure what to get? Feel free to send CASH and your classroom coordinator will shop for you! These baskets can be found in either the silent auction or the raffle on Carnival night. We have extended the donation deadline through Monday, Jan 30th. Ticket Orders: Forms should have come home this week. Pre-ordering by next Friday, Feb 3 rd, will earn you 5 free tickets! Even better, you can bypass the busy lines at the beginning! You can also pre-order raffle tickets (Want to save time there too? Fill them out ahead of time or pop a return address sticker on them!) Auction Happenings: Don t miss out on the crowd favorite at the Silent Auction, the TEACHER FEATURES! Many of our amazing staff have donated some fun auction items. Find things like: - Lunch or breakfast with your teacher - Rock Hunting with Mrs. Garry - A ride on the 'Zamboni' with Mr. Steve, the custodian - Conducting Lessons & a chance to conduct at the concert with Mr. Utell - Principal for the Day - And so much more! Do you own your own business? Are you a photographer or author? Do you have a cabin you could spare for a weekend? Do you sell a fantastic product like Thirty One, Health/Beauty Supplies, etc? 6 Yearbooks are on sale! How do I buy a yearbook? All purchases must be done online. Go to and use code for Middleton. You can also search by state and city to select Middleton. Follow the steps on the screen. After your order is submitted you will receive a confirmation containing the specifics of your order. When is my order due? The deadline for purchasing yearbooks is February 24, I can t remember if I ordered a yearbook yet this year? Go to and click on Get details of your previous orders by . It will let you know if you if you have placed an order for The yearbook team can also check current orders for you, just inquire at Middletonyearbooks@gmail.com When will my child receive his/her yearbook? Yearbooks are delivered to the classrooms the last week of school. How do I order multiple yearbooks if I have more than one child who attends Middleton? You can order yearbooks for multiple Middleton students at once: Go to Enter for Middleton Enter one child s name and grade, click next Select that child s yearbook options, click next On the billing page, you will see an order summary on the right. Below that is a link that says Place additional order for this school click on that. You will be returned to the page where you enter your child s name and grade. Enter the second child s information, click next. Repeat these steps until you have ordered yearbooks for each child then enter your billing information and finish the process. I have some good photos I d like to see included in the yearbook. What should I do with them? We would love to include your pictures of any school event, whether a restaurant night, field trip, PTO event, classroom activity, etc! Teachers do a great job providing our team with photos taken throughout the year, but we need yours too! We ve added a few extra pages to the yearbook so we can include as many candid shots as possible we know the kids love to see themselves in multiple places in the yearbook!
