We are so looking forward to a wonderful school year! This year has started off great already, our students are showing great PRIDE behaviors from the start. Our theme this year is Be Kind. Talk to your students about what it means to be the kind kid and how to choose kind. It is going to be a wonderful year at TJ and we can t wait to share all of the good news and activities with you via our newsletter every 2 weeks! New Lunch Policy Updates to the following guideline regarding school lunch payments for charged meals will be implemented starting Monday, October 8, 2018.

When the school year starts, a student s free and reduced lunch status carries over from the previous year.

2 New Lunch Policy Updates to the following guideline regarding school lunch payments for charged meals will be implemented starting Monday, October 8, Please note there has been a change in the amount of debt a student can accrue and what can be charged when a student has a negative balance. When the school year starts, a student s free and reduced lunch status carries over from the previous year. The deadline to turn in a new application for free and reduced lunch will be the end of the first week of October. Students can charge up to $7.00 of debt or $1.00 of debt if they are at reduced status for daily featured school meals (these amounts would allow the student to charge up to two (2) meals). No a-la-carte or snack items will be allowed to be charged to an account with insufficient funds. Once a student exceeds these limits, they will be provided an alternative meal to be determined by the school district and will no longer be able to charge on their account. Once the account is paid in full, the cycle starts over again. All meal balances (positive or negative) carry over from the previous school year. Field trips will be here before we know it and we need those emergency forms all filled out! THANKS! CANNED FOOD DRIVE! We will be having a canned food drive contest the week of September 10 th. The top two classrooms at both Jefferson and Longfellow with the most canned food will earn a pizza party and a chance to name the Eastlake PD s new K-9 pup! FINGER PRINTS If you are wanting to go on a field trip this year you will need to have your finger prints taken at the board office. Please call up and schedule an appointment as soon as possible, this process can sometimes take an extended amount of time. Thank you in advance for volunteering your time! 2
