1 Chartered in 1987 Message from the President Happy New Year Chattanooga EWI ladies! I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season. The New Year brings so many opportunities for us as an organization. Our Board has been working diligently on fundraising activities, monthly meeting themes/speakers, events, member participation/recognition ideas, and much more. I wanted to share with you some of the things that have been accomplished, thus far. Three items were voted on and approved by the Board and our Chapter members in December. First, Karen Hannifin was given Life Member status of our Chattanooga EWI chapter. Her dedication and 3-time President service is very much appreciated. We are so excited she gets to enjoy retirement from TVCU (much deserved) and also will continue to serve and support EWI in her new role as a Life Member. Congratulations Karen! Secondly, we voted on amending our chapter bi-laws to include member in transition and student member options. The member in transition affords our representatives options if they cease employment with a member firm, but still want to continue to be active in EWI, while they seek employment with a new and/or existing member firm. Additionally, the student member is a fantastic opportunity for college students to join EWI to learn more about careers, connections and our community. Lastly, the Board and Chapter members voted for the First Tennessee matured CD funds to be used to start a Chattanooga EWI endowment with Chattanooga State. This is so exciting for our chapter, because it provides one more lasting legacy. The impact this organization has made within our education community is astounding and is a credit to our terrific, hard-working, committed representatives and member firms. As noted, our UTC endowment is fully funded, and now we will have a Chattanooga State endowment to add to our list of successes. Our Board members are working on many more exciting programs, and fund raising ideas. I cannot wait to share more good news with each of you in the coming year, as our Board finalizes the ideas. If you have not joined a committee, please do so. It takes each of us to continue to make an impact in each other s lives, careers, and community. Please, continue to reach out to our Chapter Representatives. Several folks have been dealing with some critical health issues, and there have been some representatives that we have not seen in sometime. Your care and concern goes a long way! I look forward to seeing each of you at our monthly chapter meeting on January 15 th at the Walden Club. Do not forget your raffle table item(s), and your money for the raffle table. 2 Upcoming Meetings/Reminders Regional EWI Chapter Forum Hosted by EWI of Chattanooga April 13, 2019 Purpose and Goals The purpose of a Regional Chapter Forum is to bring together Board Members, future leaders and members from chapters within a local region for the benefits of networking, sharing best practices, discussing challenges and brainstorming new ideas. The Forum provides a setting for neighboring Chapter Board Members, Committee Chairs, and Members to connect and bond, and offers an opportunity for growth through the exchange of success stories and lessons learned. Attendees All current and incoming Chapter Board Members, Committee Chairs, future leaders, and all members are invited to attend the Forum. The Corporate Board is also invited to attend. The goal is that all chapters in the region are represented at the Forum, with as many Board Members from different Board positions in attendance as possible. The attendee list may be expanded to include incoming Chapter Board Members, Past Presidents, Committee Chairs and other members who are interested in serving their chapter in the future. EWI of Chattanooga is honored to extend an open invitation to this Forum to all EWI Chapter Representatives who would like to attend. Registration Fee The registration fee for attendees includes two meals on Saturday, keynote speakers, work sessions, and any meeting materials. (Friday night dinner is not included.) Session Speaker: DeJuan Jordan Life Shifts: Thriving in the Midst of Change and Transition Special Keynote Speakers: Christa Mannarino Mindful Leadership Sonia Young, The Purple Lady The Purple Path of a Perfect Life Transportation The DoubleTree will provide transportation to and from the hotel to the Hunter Museum. They will also offer a space for bags to be held during the meeting. Town Hall There will be a Town Hall with several of our current and past Corporate Board members, including but not limited to: Ronwyn Anderson, Corporate President Kristi Emmons Jones, Corporate Director Cheryl Hawkins, Immediate Past Corporate President Dianne Luckett, Past Corporate President DEADLINE FOR EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION IS March 15, 2019 EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION FEE: $125 if registration and payment are received before March 15, 2019 REGISTRATION FEE: $150 for all registration and payment received after March 15, 2019 Cost includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday and all Seminar materials (Registration fee does not include cost of Friday night dinner.) 4 Upcoming Fundraisers Nose to Toes Drawing EWI of Chattanooga will be selling tickets that reach from your Nose to your Toes for a 50/50 drawing to help cover the cost of the Regional Chapter Forum. The drawing will be held at the closing of the forum and some lucky winner will receive 50% of the cash raised. You must be present to win. Tickets from your Nose to Toes for $10.00 No Dirty Dishes Basket EWI of Chattanooga will be selling tickets for $10 each for a chance to win a basket full of Gift Cards for restaurants and gas cards. Drawing will be held at the closing of the forum. You do not have to be present to win. Handmade Queen Size Quilt Raffle EWI of Chattanooga will be selling tickets for $1 each for a chance to win a handmade queen-size quilt donated by one of our members. The quilt will be displayed at the Chapter Forum. All proceeds will go toward our Scholarship Fund. Drawing will be held at EWI of Chattanooga s September meeting. You do not have to be present to win. Pot of Gold Tickets We will have more details at our February meeting. So, be ready to try your luck!
