1 Welcome back, to the business year for ASQ Section 1103, Carolina High Country. Our November 2015 program will be of high interest, we think a brewery tour. Read on. Over the course of the year (September thru May), we offer our members nine (monthly) opportunities to meet, the second Monday each month, and benefit from an interesting program. Often, valuable quality improvement tools, sometimes networking both of which offer valuable opportunities to our Quality Professional colleagues for learning or career growth. Come join us, whether as a new entry to the industry or a long-time member there s always something new to learn. You might just catch the spark that launches your next chapter of life. 3 Chairman s Corner ASQ Committee Help Still no takers have come forward in response to last month s urge for help - there is a need to repeat the message. Please give consideration to being a volunteer on our Committee. We need help. The future of ASQ Carolina High Country Section 1103 must now take front stage. Our leadership team has done a great job in service to our members. Very good programs, ongoing certification opportunities, recertification service, links to HQ, a significant student scholarship fund and even networking among colleagues, when in-need and not. I thank the entire Carolina High Country team for their years of voluntary support. It is important for any organization to look forward, to set direction for growth and continuity. We do not have a continuity plan for future leadership. We need one. One of my key responsibilities as the Section Chair is to organize and engage the resources needed for us to deliver on our mission statement. You see our section mission statement in the header of every newsletter. We have a resources issue, and we need a continuity plan to bring new members into our leadership committee. With that will come growth and future plans. The committee people who make up our section leadership are listed toward the end of this newsletter. These are volunteer positions, as with all ASQ sections, as we are a not-for-profit professional organization. We invite those with talents, time, and interest to step forward. We need help. And honestly, there are benefits. There is quite a lot of support available from ASQ HQ and from our existing team. For example, our Internet Liasion had commented how easy it was to take on her role aided with the information available, such as membership listings, listings, and the support of other experienced members on our leadership team. It was not hard, and she does a great job at it. Our Section 1103 was the initial ASQ section when North and South Carolina represented one region. It has split many times since then. Frankly, if we are unable to muster enough new volunteers to this calling, the section is in jeopardy of significantly reducing the activities offered, and even at risk of collapsing and folding. Don t hide in the wings come forward and volunteer to help. It s indeed another perspective on Fallacy of Run-From, except on a more personal level now. Quality Jobs: Job openings can be posted here. Do you know of a need for good quality talent? Or are you that quality talent that is looking for a job or advancement in your career?
