FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW WE HAVE ACHIEVED FIVE STAR RECOGNITION AS WELL AS COMMUNITY SERVICE A huge THANK YOU to our team members who work so hard throughout the year to achieve this very prestigious recognition. It s all about YOU! We are always looking for more motivated, creative, and dedicated members as well as Committee volunteers. In particular we need someone with IT skills to maintain our website and prepare the Newsletter. Education & Training has had a void for a while now, why not step up and show your stuff? Awards & Scholarships needs some attention as well. There is so much opportunity here for everyone. Please contact any Officer or Committee member if interested. 2

3 ASMC WELCOMES BACK LYNETTE SCOTT Although Lynette was only gone for a couple of months when she retired from the military, she was duly missed in her role as Chairperson of our Programs Committee. We are happy to say she has returned to Hanscom working as a Civilian and has resumed her duties as Chairperson. Welcome Back Lynette, nobody missed you more than me!! MAY S MEETING WILL BE HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 4 TH It seems as though getting space to hold our meetings is becoming harder to do. May s meeting has been pushed out to Thursday, June 4 th at the Chapel. Our speaker will be Rick Jackson, presenting on the US vs. FMS Comparison and Contrast. We will be offering two slices of tasty pizza and water for $5. You must register in advance. Stay tuned for more information. This meeting was cancelled due to low attendance. 3

4 SEAN DUFFY PRESENTS TO ASMC AT APRIL S MONTHLY MEETING Mr. Sean Duffy, CFO to the Air Force Program Executive Officer for Command, Control, and Communications Infrastructure & Networks at Hanscom addressed about 40 attendees at our April 30 th meeting last month. Mr. Duffy s presentation was about Capitol Hill politics; he described how the Senate & House deals with the Liaison Officer in their roles and responsibilities. He captivated the audience s attention by informing us how working on the hill is different today than it used to be emphasizing how politics rule Washington. Sean emphasized that the Number One rule as the PEM is to absolutely follow the President s Budget the PEMS do not monitor nor are they decision makers. Attendees enjoyed the presentation as well as pizza for lunch offered by ASMC. 4

TWO ASMC UPCOMING COMMUNITY EVENTS When: Saturday, June 27th, 3:45 pm - 5:00 pm What: Volunteers will assist veterans at NECHV by serving meals during dinner Where: New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA When: Saturday, July 11th 12:30-4:30M What: Food Service for the homeless. The work includes table setup, food preparation, greeting our guests, meal service and cleanup. Where: Church of St. John the Evangelist, 35 Bowdoin Street, Boston *This is a non-denominational event* Saturday's/Sunday's Bread has been serving free hot meals to people in need in Boston every weekend day for over 28 years.
