Winter Christmas Party: Gary and Nancy Meunier's Rally: To be held in Southbury, CT. The theme is: Age of Aquarius. Old Business and reminders: Chapter K's monthly meeting was held on October 1 st at Zachary's in Burlington. There were sixteen (16) members and guests in attendance; David LaJoice, Director; Bill and Marion Hird; Bill and Penny Malloy; Earl and Lisa Pease; Bonnie and Brian Pease; Dick and Kay Trudell; Tony Pare; Nancy Meunier; Laurie Barnett and Muriel Morse. George Parizo from Chapter A was present. Birthdays: Happy Birthday Kay and Mary. Kay's birthday is October 19 th. Mary's birthday is October 11 th. Anniversaries: No anniversaries this month. David L. would like an update from everyone regarding their birthdays and anniversaries. These are the ones we have. Please make sure the information is accurate. Thank you! Other Discussions: Day rides planned and led by David Gauthier ; all rides except those on meeting days, meet at Maplefield's in Essex UNLESS otherwise indicated; be prepared; full tank of gas, empty bladders, 9:00 a.m.). Ideas for next year's rides and/or places you would like to go. Bring your ideas/thoughts to the November Meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please your thoughts and ideas to David Lajoice. Roger Burr offered his thoughts at the October Meeting. He would like to ride to Thousand Islands, NY and/or Tozier's in Bethel. Both great ideas. However, the Thousand Island, NY trip would have to be an overnight ride. It is approximately 7 hours and depending on the route you take, it is anywhere from miles one way. Kay suggested a trip to Best Friends Family Diner in 13 Lake Street, Rouse's Point, NY for their all you can eat buffet on a Saturday Night. The Destination Ride Please be thinking about next year's destination, ride, thoughts. Do you want it to be a destination ride or a mystery? Please send your input to David LaJoice prior to the November Meeting.

3 Lisa Pease would like to go to Hampton Beach, NH. David L. asked her to find a date, rooms and prices for this location. Member Enhancement Coordinator starting January 1 st will be known as the Chapter Member Enhancement and Social Coordinator. Dick Trudell is our Chapter Member Enhancement Coordinator. He had some concerns regarding the Social Coordinator piece being added to his title. David L. reassured him he has been and is doing a fantastic job and that he was confident Dick would continue to do a fantastic job. All members of the Chapter will offer their thoughts, ideas, help throughout the year making his job easier and the transition seamless. Tim with Chapter A has been having a difficult time with his Dad being ill. David asked that folks be patient with him during this period. Penny will send a card letting Tim know he is in our thoughts... we are keeping Tim and his Dad in our prayers. Laurie: Laurie attended VT Chapter A's get away weekend to Wells Ogunquit Motel Resort and Cottages. They are at: 203 Post Rd, Rt 1, Wells, ME. Their telephone number is: (480) There were sunrise events, rides, food and more. There were group rides e.g Portland Light House where we flew kites. The New Hampshire Chapter also held a Road Captain's Course which Laurie attended along with several Chapter member's from around the area. If you plan to attend Chapter A's next year get away, plan to make your reservation in January of Rooms fill up quickly for that timeframe. New Chapter positions as of January 1 st, 2018: Chapter Director: The name may be the same but the responsibilities have changed. The new role of the Chapter Director is more of a Coordinator of fun, activities, rides and more fun. To coordinate Chapter gatherings, that means you don t have to do them all. To suggest ideas to your staff/team and they can do it. We don t want you focused on your finances, just on fun and riding. You lead through facilitating your Team and your Chapter Participants into fun activities, making certain that any new Member is welcomed and made a part of this special place in GWRRA, their Chapter! Most importantly to this new role, you do not do it alone! A good resource for this new role can be found at Chapter Ride Coordinator: As we change our focus we need to have someone coordinate our rides. This position will be under Rider Education so this person has to believe and participate in our Rider Education Program and be at least a level 2, which is why they are an Officer of Rider Education. Their role will not be the same as the previous role of the Chapter Educator as we want you to focus your energy on planning all variety of rides that suit your Chapter Participants. As you get ready for that ride, you will conduct a very informative Rider Meeting and you will encourage safety, i.e. T-Clocs, group riding techniques; safety clothes and more. You accept the Riders that show and they need to be in compliance with State law. You will encourage, communicate and lead the way sharing GWRRA s benefits of safety as developed through our Rider Education Program. You will not be focused on paperwork but on the opportunities to ride and share. If you sign

4 Members into the program, that is a bonus, but sharing your passion for the ride is your piece of the fun equation. Chapter Member Enhancement and Social Coordinator: As the name implies, this Member will be the Chapter social coordinator. Planning fun events and reaching out to the Ride Coordinator from time to time to incorporate a fun ride with some fun social events. Encourage your Chapter to participate in some of the fun programs that GWRRA has to offer. Reach out to those prospect and new Members faithfully every month until you talk with them and invite them to join you. You are the key to Chapter fun, enjoy it! You are GWRRA s vital communicator to those who are Members of GWRRA, share your passion! Chapter Treasurer: We will still have some finances that will need to be handled and the Chapter Treasurer is the person to do it. They know how much money they will need in a month and/or year, and they will report how the treasury is doing monthly at the Business or Staff Meeting. If someone wants or needs to do a specific fundraiser, they will coordinate that with the Chapter Director and Treasurer. NOTE: Chapter finances are needed for a Charter fee; web hosting; some newsletters and Member appreciation. That means a major fundraiser may not be necessary. Focus on socials and rides and do 50/25/25 s to pay for your necessary expenses. We re changing the focus to camaraderie, riding, fun and social and the finances just need to support what we have to do. What Happens to Rider Education? We will cover it more as we discuss the positions in the District, but the primary responsibility for the Rider Education Program will happen at the District level. The District will encourage the Chapter Rider Coordinator keeping them up to date and aware of the goings on with the Rider Education Program and assist as needed to meet the needs of the Chapter. As you read the District Structure you ll understand their new role as well. For more on this subject, please go to: Safety Report (David Gauthier): Please be aware fall is upon us. This means a change in the weather, leaves and other debris along the highway. When these leaves are wet, they become very slippery. Fall in Vermont also means tourist season. This along with school in session means a lot more traffic on our highways. Please drive safely. Also, please stay away from Rt 100 near Waterbury. It is possible you will be held up for long periods of time. **************************************
