I am 19 years old and was raised in the small town of Fenelon Falls, Ontario. I am enrolled in the Nuclear engineering program and am in my second year. I plan to represent our faculty by making decisions that would better student life on and off campus. HEALTH SCIENCES DIRECTOR RYLEY GEMMILL HEALTH SCIENCES DIRECTOR The UOIT Student Union since its inception has had a vision of creating the best student experience for those who are lucky enough to call themselves Ridgebacks. As a newer school with and rapidly expanding campus and community I want to be part of the legacy that shapes the student experience here. By promoting academic and networking opportunities so our graduates have the best chance to succeed, by advocating for services our student need such as mental health supports so they can succeed in their studies, to having the best events so your time here is more than a degree. A vote for me is a vote a commitment to the student experience in and beyond the classroom. PRYANKA BALLEY My name is Pryanka Balley, I am in my fourth year completing my Bachelor of Science. I would like to take this opportunity to ensure the Faculty of Science, and its student body, are exceptionally represented and advocated for. As a director, I will work tirelessly to provide more opportunities and services to students within the faculty. These opportunities will reflect diversity, inclusivity and a progressive mindset. I truly believe that our community has a lot to offer, and growth lies in unity. In order for our vision to come to life, as a director I will arrange events that spread awareness, take the student voice into account, and lastly engage every single member of the faculty. (three candidates) BISHOY MIKHAIL My name is Bishoy Mikhail and I am currently running for the Director for the Faculty of Social Sciences. I am a third-year Criminology student, and I have enjoyed experiencing the many opportunities UOIT has to offer, but I also see areas for improvement. Being part of the Board of Directors will not only aid future endeavors of students but also ensure that their voices are heard. I have a long history of advocating for the needs of students and improving your student experience is my main goal. I am well aware that students have many concerns in need of addressing and I plan to make those OUR priority. We need: - More on-campus jobs - More study space - Affordable food on campus - Faculty integration DAKODA CLUETT I am running for Director of Social Sciences and Humanities. I am currently enrolled in Legal Studies at UOIT. I am a responsible, determined, and hard-working candidate. I am actively involved with the community and thrive on volunteer opportunities. In addition, I am an open-minded and welcoming individual. I always listen to other's viewpoints and treat others fairly and with respect. Once elected, I will work hard and strive to accomplish several goals. My focus would be bettering the downtown campus in order to benefit students enrolled in Social Sciences and Humanities. I want to represent all the voices of the social science students and present new ideas and opportunities that would make their experience at UOIT the best it can be! KAENAT AZIZ My name is Kaenat and I am interested in running for the position of VP Downtown. I am a first year female student looking for an opportunity where I can grow as an individual in a positive and exciting environment. I feel I can be a great representation of the downtown community and help out to the best of my ability. I hope to regulate events and make the downtown campus active in the lives of individuals who want and need it. I have some experience in this field because I helped Ibrahim Daniyal with campaigning while he was running for Liberal party candidate in Pickering. I like to be involved and that's what I hope to do with this position.

2 DEV SIVANESAN Hey UOIT! My name is Devakeerth, better known as Dev, and I'm running to be your next Student Union President! Over the past 5 years I've been ENGSOC VP Student Life, ENGSOC VP Internal Affairs, and your TSA President for the past 2 years. These experiences allowed me to work with students and champion their causes. My vision for how we can make a better university experience starts with: Increasing funding for the clubs and societies on campus Making the process easier for clubs and societies to run events Promoting a healthier lifestyle for students by having more choices of food on campus Increasing study space during exam time and student work opportunities around campus Follow me on Dev 4 Prez OWEN DAVIS I am humbled by the opportunity to be a voice for the student body at UOIT after studying here for the past 4 years. #ONTech4U is a platform that was developed after thorough consultation, is student-driven, and with every point being entirely achievable. As the President of the UOIT SU, I would advocate for our rights, support the services for students, and help build a better campus community. In order to do so, I want to do everything in my power to advocate to get you a more fair food service contract, greater parking availability, more student services support workers, additional group and individual study space, and more that we, the student body, deserve. 3 VICE (three candidates) ARANI NAGULESWARAN VICE Hi! My name is Arani Naguleswaran and I'm a third year Criminology and Justice student. As a student, I'm passionate about making an effective change at the downtown campus. I hear the voices of the students and demand for a change. If elected as the Student Union VP of Downtown, I promise to bring forth this change by: 1. aiming to upgrade security levels at the parking garages located near the Downtown campuses; 2. planning towards bringing a larger and cheaper variety of food within campuses; 3. working towards getting more study spaces at the Downtown campus; 4. committing to allowing students to wait inside of Regent Theatre during midterms and final examinations; and 5. bringing upon more support groups at the Downtown campus. KATE CINCO VICE Downtown Campus students feel secluded from the university due to the lack of resources and activities. We are a school with two campuses but it is time to look at us as one community. Here are few of the main points from my platform: 1) Make access to North Campus easier by having the same parking pass, allowing students to take full advantage of all school services. 2) Expand the Union Cafe (formally Tuck Shop) to Bordessa Hall and adding more food choices in Charles Building. 3) Create more study space and upgrade the student lounge to increase student comfortability. There will always be room for new ideas and improvement. Change starts with you and together we can make the best of our student experience here at UOIT. MIGUEL AGUDELO VICE Hi UOIT! My name is Miguel Agudelo, and I am running to be your Vice-President of Downtown. I am in my second year of the criminology program in the Downtown Campus of UOIT. As a commuter, I have understood the struggles and the student life of the downtown campus. There are many areas of improvement. As the Vice-President, I will work towards: More reliable transportation Including your feedback from previous events, and incorporating it into future events Increasing and improving food variety and lowering the prices More engaging events More attention to the downtown campus I believe that this position will help us improve the student experience and services at the downtown campus.

4 VICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS GABRIEL BETLEN VICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS In my tenure at UOIT, having been active within student politics for two years representing my faculty (FESNS) in 2016 and 2018, I have seen the often daunting tasks that have come before UOIT students organizing themselves. The years following the founding of the UOIT SU have felt like an upward battle to regain the trust of students, but this has come at a sacrifice in other departments. I want to bring advocacy for UOIT students back as the central mission of the UOIT SU, as well as promote more interaction from the bulk of the disconnected student body through building a real sense of community among students. I firmly believe that as the VP of Student Affairs for the 2019 term, this will be possible. JESSICA NGUYEN VICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS This past year has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as your Student Union President. From a sold-out concert to a pumpkin patch, and a skating rink right on Polonsky Commons - this has been a thrilling year for our cohesive community of UOIT Students. To ensure that the momentum continues on, I am very happy to announce that I will be running to be your next VP Student Affairs. Last year, the goal was to #EnvisionTheFuture, but I'd like to take it one step further. This year, we are #BuildingForTheFuture.

But let's face it, there are issues that needs to heard and addressed for you to have an amazing experience while studying here at UOIT. I believe it is important that you have a right to have your voice heard. My main goal is to establish an environment where you can feel safe, a place where equality is embraced, and for you to enjoy your time as you are here at UOIT. At the same time, I want to provide better services and events to help you transition for next year. I promise to consider your ideas and put them into action. So, believe in me and vote for me as I will always be on your side working for you. TIFFANY BEST VICE OF STUDENT SERVICES Hello, my name is Tiffany Best and I am a third-year kinesiology student. I am excited to announce that I will be running to be your next Vice-President of Student Services for your UOIT Student Union. I am currently the President of the UOIT Health Science Society for the term. My experience from this position, gives me added qualifications to connect with UOIT staff and faculty members, as well as advocate for students needs. My goal is to sustain current services as well as create new opportunities that will benefit student academics, inclusivity and overall university experience.
