Short Profile Currently working as the Assistant Dean of students at Chiromo Campus of University of Nairobi, where I have been involved in interaction with University students both in psychotherapy and administratively. At the University of Nairobi I was involved in the team that drafted the disability policy for the institution. I have 25 years teaching experience and I have lectured at University of Nairobi, United States International University, Kenyatta University, Institute of Human Resource Management (I HRM) and Kenya institute of counselling. I have consulted widely under the ambit of IHRM and Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) on individual and organizational performance. Publications, I have presented three conference papers in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the auspices of International Kenya Association of Professional Counselors Counseling Conference. Some of the papers that I have presented include Trauma the Silent Killer - Experience from the Commission of Inquiry Into the Post Election Violence September 2009 and Expressive Arts and Play Therapy - Art Communicates August/September I am working on publishing these conference papers. As a consultant and trainer, I have gained valuable experience on human resources issues relating to performance, motivation factors, people skills and counselling and particularly issues related to early childhood using art therapy. I have worked with different age groups in the counselling area and in the area of human resource development. I have worked as a consultant 1

2 for several leading companies especially during the company of the year awards (COYA) and organisational performance index (OPI) organised by Kenya Institute of management. More recently trained the youth in the Kenya youth empowerment program in communication skills. I have trained human resource managers, trained early childhood teachers on how to motivate and engage young children, business leaders on how to motivate their employees and offered employee separation counselling services for huge quasi-government organizations like Telkom during retrenchments. I am a creative problem solver and team player, specializing in early childhood and human resource development and organizational development, counselling, people skills and corporate citizenship. I have strong communication skills and I have undergone extensive training on facilitation, consultancy and hold Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University and Master of counselling from Durham University UK. Currently registered as a PhD student in the Department of Psychology University of Nairobi. 6. Career Objective: Utilize my professional skills to be an effective counselor/lecturer /trainer who can inspire and guide the current and next generation through counselling and service to the community as well as exploring newer dimensions for human excellence. 7. (ix) Debriefing sessions for the Samaritan Purse International Relief staff Mombasa office from June 9 th to 10 th, The purpose of the debriefing sessions was to enable the Mombasa office team share their experience of losing their friend and colleague as a means of helping them to accept and adjust to the fact his absence 2

Specifically, the objectives of the debriefing were to increase the reality of the loss, guide the group deal with both expressed and dormant feelings, help the group overcome certain impediments so as to readjust after the loss, facilitate the group to handle loss by experiencing pain and grief appropriately and assist the group to let go aptly of their dead colleague and make a conscious effort to continue working with their usual vigour and their life even after his demise. February 2008: Debriefing Students and Staff at University of Nairobi affected by Post Election Violence. This entailed providing counseling and formation of a group for therapy. Other interventions we provided were financial and provision of a hot line for communication. August 2010 training on the enneagram a model of understanding the different personality types.understanding personality types helps management and staff how best to work efficiently in spite of these differences. Trauma resiliency model training from July 7 th to 9 th 2009; this was a skilled based intervention training focused on stabilizing, reducing and/or preventing the symptoms of traumatic stress in clients and practitioners and restores the body s natural resiliency. (xiii) Palliative care November 9-13, 2009; this training was on medical care or treatment that concentrates on reducing the severity of disease symptoms rather than striving to halt, delay, or reverse progression of the disease itself or provide a cure. The goal is to prevent and relieve suffering and to improve quality of life for people facing serious and complex illness through prevention and relief of suffering, early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. (vix) (xv) Supervision play therapy August 24-28, 2009; the purpose for the training was to establish an interpersonal process by use of therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial challenges and achieve optimal growth and development as a form of counselling or psychotherapy that therapeutically engages power of play to communicate with and help people, especially children. In addition, the training focused on how clients can express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process so that they could know and accept themselves and others by showing personal commitment, acceptance of responsibility, act ethically and adopt ethical behaviour. Non violence and peace building September 21 st to 26 th, 2009; the training focus was on introducing several approaches in peace building that prescribe a path of non-violence towards minimizing inter-human violence in-order to reside in a state of peace and happiness. 8.
