April August 2009 Baker Act Training (Roger Peters, PI) Project team leader. Developed an online suicide prevention awareness and risk assessment training module for Baker Act facility staff. Created content, edited online version, developed test questions, and facilitated team communication. July 1, September 30, 2008 Statewide Suicide Prevention Implementation Program (funding from the 2007 Florida Legislature) Principal Investigator. Developed, in coordination with the Office of Suicide Prevention, a comprehensive suicide prevention program to implement the State Suicide Prevention strategy with the intent to reduce the suicide rate in the state of Florida. Project focused on four major content areas: social marketing, training, community capacity building, and specific interventions. In addition, an overall emphasis will be on the organizational and implementation structures and processes to sustain the initiative in local communities. July 1, 2007 August 30, 2008 The Relationship of Suicide Death to Baker Act Examination, Client Characteristics and Service Use Patterns: A sub study of FMHI / AHCA - Medicaid Behavioral Health Studies Principal Investigator. Conduct a secondary analysis of existing data sets (Medicaid, Baker Act and SAMH/IDS) to identify people who were hospitalized for a suicide attempt and those who died by suicide during The research team examined a number of characteristics of the individuals themselves, patterns of service use (mental health and substance abuse) in a period before and after the attempt and prior to the death by suicide. July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 Iowa System of Care (SOC) Evaluation and Consultation Principal Investigator. Provide consultation on the Northeast Iowa Children s Mental Health Initiative (CMHI) evaluation component, complete a multi-site evaluation of the current status of Children's system of care in Iowa, and work with key individuals as Iowa continues to implement and improve it s system of care for children and families. Coordinate and collect information regarding school-based mental health screening programs in three states through interviews. Provide information for analysis that will aid in creating a new communications tool kit. The project s focus is to assist Brown County, Wisconsin with their development of a coordinated system of care for children s services.
